Which do you prefer, the music of today or the old music (1960s-2000)?

I want to listen to the songs in the 1960's to 2000 more than I do the present music. I find it refreshing and relaxing, with the cool accompaniment and the mellow voices of the singers, like James Taylor, The Platters, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Beegees, The Beatles. The music today, I could only want to listen to a few like Westlife. What about you? Which do you prefer? the then or the now?

When you talk about music, 60's and 70's have witnessed some of the world's greatest music ever, and not only people of my age group but also rather younger generations still love to listen to those musics which were composed even much before their births! While musics of 60's and 70's provide a melodious and soothing note, today's music at times tend to get very hard. Although there are few soft and melodious tone being composed but these are rare. A sense of restlessness and uncertainty get blended with today's music - may be a reflection of the globe we live in! But I believe music of those golden era will continue to find room in our heart even in the years to come.

I agree with your observations. 60s and 70s are soothing music. and restlessness is for the present. Thanks for the input.

I like both of them as long as they talks about love and peace. Love and peace are things that we need to make a peace, to prevent wars, and to respect other.

Yes, so many, all of them are good musicians and singers way back then. You had no business singing, if you don't really have a voice.

Of course I like our music then, they are relaxing and they have meaning. Unlike the music of today wherein the singers are always shouting. I love the Manila sounds - the APO, VST & Co., Boyfriends for the local, then there's the Beatles, Beegees, James Taylor, Kenny Logins, and more. And when you hear old songs, you can't help but be nostalgic.

I prefer to listen to 1960's-1990's music. Mostly though it is the 70's and 80's old rock I love the best; AC/DC, Aerosmith, Sammy Hagar and other bands like that. I do listen to 80's and 90's country as well. I am a huge Elvis fan too. I guess you could say I like all types of music, but just like the oldies.
