I guess you can because it is true that everything in moderation. But how much is too much? http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/11/29/why-large-amounts-of-fruit-may-not-be-healthy.aspx had a very interesting article on it.

I had been told before not to eat more fruit than what was traditionally recommended. I know for diabetics it is especially to watch out for overdoing the fruit thing, and they even have to monitor the kind of fruit they eat. I guess it is a good thing we can't overeat too many vegetables. At least I don't think we can.

My sister has diabetes, and my dad is pre-diabetic. I'm hoping he can get his diet together to avoid having full blown diabetes.

High carb fruits, like bananas are worse, but of course, can be had if you are diabetic, under controlled circumstances. My grandmother and mother-in-law both had diabetes.

I think it is an individual thing. You are supposed to have so many servings of fruits a day. If you want more and it agrees with you then go for it. There are people that are Fruitarians and them only eat fruits and I think maybe grains. (not really sure about that). So if you Love Fruit Go For It!!!!

ya i guess I could understand that. I am just not too sure on how much is too much. That would be a good thing for me to look into for just in case.

I think two or three servings per day cannot be bad but more might be a bit much.

I never really thought about it until I read this. Not that I eat enough fruit to overdose but now I know!

I knew a girl who ate too many apples once and she had to go to the hospital because she broke out with this nasty looking rash that covered her entire body.

I am sure because if you overdose on anything, even food, the body cannot handle it. It needs balance.

as for eating too much fruit, it is possible. I know of people who have "overdosed" (for lack of a better word) on bananas and had to go to the hospital they were so ill. We are talking a lot of bananas here, but they are high in potassium, and I assume that this was the reason this person was so ill. Eating 5 pieces of fruit though in a day probably won't do you too much harm. You want to be eating 5 - 10 servings of fruits and vegetables anyways, and assuming you have a balanced diet, you'll be fine. If all you are eating is fruit, well, then you'll be deficient in many nutrients.
