i am a muslim and what i can is that islam is a good religion. we all see on tv reports and news that its seems to be a terrorist religion. thats totally wrong. islam teaches us to have a good and reliable personality. islam says that you must look after your neighbours. thats means share with your neighbours anything that you like. it applys even if you have a non-muslim neighbour. today on tv we see that in other countries there are suicide bombers which is totally against islam principles. the reason is that the first thing you don't have the right to kill innocent people.killing innocent people is a great sin in islam. people do things just because they think its just good to solve problems in their way. these people in islam we call them ignorant people or stubborned people. you try to explain these people that what they are doing is wrong but still they continue.some changes after they realises but some don't. i am talking about killing people. we can't even make a bad joke on people.the reason is once after you say something on someone and he feels bad after that, you'll have to pay for it unless he forgives you.islam teaches that you must be careful about people's feeling and not to hurt them. thats only two things i discussed and there is lot more.
if you have any misconception about islam then post it here and i hope i can clarify it for you.

As salaam alaykum. I try to explain this to a lot of non Muslims here in the US. We are constantly indoctrinated by our media to believe Islaam is evil and they make every effort to associate Islaam with terrorism. We have people who don't know how to decipher the truth from the lies and thus resulting in people having hatred towards Islaam. America tagged Muslims and Islaam all over 9/11 and I still don't believe what we were made to believe was the absolute truth on the matter. A lot of people feel that way. But it is hard for the small 5% of us to preach to the masses about what is really going on when most of them blindly believe what is being broadcast by our government, who will profit from this hatred.
I often believed my idea of Heaven would be where everyone is Muslim. I think we would be more peaceful in general. Islaam teaches us peace, modesty and faith, not terrorism. Terrorism is what it is and because there are Muslim terrorists doesn't mean we are all evil. It is very hard to explain that to people though. Please continue with what you are doing, I commend you for it.

Peace unto you too my brother
Religion is to "re lie on" rely on something or someone way of teachings. Al Islaam is a way of life and not a religion. Men who don't understand, or overstand, or in between stand, always lable something to suit there understanding. In the arabic language Al Islaam is the peaceful way of living. It is not something relied on it is the way you just lived. An Arab and a Muslim is two different people. Anyone can be a Muslim not everyone can be an Arab. If there are Arabs that are called terrorist it does not always mean that person is a muslim or is in Islaam. Muslim is a person of peace and Islaam is a peaceful way of living it has nothing to do with terrorism. People have for years been changing bad for good and vice versa and that what they have done with the words muslim and Al Islaam. Even though I do not practice what people called this religion I still like to call my self a Muslim because I am one of peace. I use to be in Islaam when I was religious but still hold on to all the teaching I learned in Al Islaam.

Hi, I know what you are going to point us. It also made me think again and again which religion in this world has asked to kill innocent people? I think no religion says so. But gthe situation has now crossed all these barriers like religions and all. It has come to a point when we are just so much hurt. Our country is bleeding from what has happened in last few days. Why all these things happen? what they get by killing people like this? If any other have done that to any other nation, what could have been the reaction? hope you understand where it hurts.

But other people in other religions have done horrors. See my replies on http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1815323.aspx. Maybe you do not know much about the history of many people in many religions. I am Catholic and the Catholic church did have people murdered!! Have you ever heard of the Spanish Inquisition?
Here is a link that may give you some history of the horrors...http://www.angelfire.com/realm/soulseeking0/rcc.html

I am a Christian, Lafouine. I personally in favor with you that Islam is a good religion. We have different faith and doctrine but we all have the same direction towards the Ultimate Good, the Almighty One. We have different Ways to follow towards good. There are similar teachings that we follow like' "Love your Neighbor". There are also Christians like Muslims who violates this Law of love. Anyway, we all both must combat those who are evil. Happymylotting!

It's not the religion that is evil but there are some muslims who have a different outlook, or approach to their religion. Every religion in the world is good, they dont teach us to be bad.. and just because terrorism that has happened in the world is by muslims doesnt mean that all muslims are bad and the religion is evil, like i said earlier there's just some muslim people who have a different approach to their religion. By the way, im a Christian.

I am in the UK and the people that own and run our local newspaper shop are from Yemen and they are Muslims and I might add great people. They do not try to push their religion on anyone and they work hard. It annoys me that many of the people such as the Taliban, and others who are creating havoc in the world are in my opinion hiding behind religion and therefore giving all Muslims a bad name. I have yet to meet a Muslim I didn't like and in our neighborhood here in the UK there are lots of them. Rant over - lol.

I just got back from the paper shop (My sweet tooth got the best of me so I went to get some chocolate)I talked to one of the young men that works in there - he is the middle one of three brothers. We always have a good laugh and a joke. I told him I had posted on here about my experience with Muslims and he reached under the counter and handed me a very informative paper titled "What does ISLAM say about Terrorism?" Underneath that was this "... if anyone slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole mankind - and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole mankind."
Al-Qur'an 5.32
How sad it is that those who perpetrated all the terrorism that has taken place in the world didn't read this more carefully and live by this word.

I agree that the religion is not bad or should I say is as bad as any religion is. We all have our belives and ruls and who are we to say that what I belive is beter then what you belive. I live in Australia originaly I am from a Europian country that has some 20% population that are Muslim so I know how people do things. In my old country they push Nationality more then religion in Australia they push religion more. I dont know how informed you are of the Islamic groups in Australia but some imams (I think thats how you spell it) are going to an extreeme lenghts to provoke the non muslim and oftem muslim people as well. Like the comment made that women in Australia deserve to be raped because of the way we dress. Also there was a study done by the islamic consul and they found out that many of the imaams preach things that incourage people to go agains the law in many things. This is something published by the Islamic body so there is no misconception here. I belive that most muslim people are great but those few that fight for what they call "islam" make everyone else bad as well. Another thing is that when people kill in the name of Islam most Muslims dont say anything you only hear the people that support them. We (non muslims) only hear that story your voice is not strong enough for us to hear it. Why is there no protest against those that kill in the name of all of you?

according to the imam did he mentioned this in the press? i mean openly?
please reply. thanks.

"all terrorist seems to be muslim" do you they are muslim because they got a muslim name. no!!!! a muslim is someone who follows the religion islam. islam is a way of living and a good one. its not the name nor the colour now anything else that says your a muslim. a muslim is the one who pratice on all the commanments of god. and god never said to act as a terrorist. the word islam itself in arabic means peace. does terrorist match with peace? thanks for your comments and i hope this answer helped you. thanks a lot.

I must admit i do not know much about your relegion. But i believe that nobody should kill anyone. From the begining of time wars and killing have been going on. There are murders the world over on city streets. I can never understand the so called "cristian wars". If people would just stop having wars and just follow their faith "thou shall not kill" to love and help each other. What a beautiful place the world would be to live in. Think instead of killing each other because of what one believes is not the same as the other. I think most are all about love so why kill? Instead of killing they can all unite in ways of saving our planet. Building instead of destroying. Dont we all want the best for our children.? Love not hate. Build not destroy. Muliply not kill. I also call killers ignorant people. Some may also be very mentaly disturbed.

Say, I'm not a muslim, nor christian, nor jewish, nor hindu. I'm actually an atheist, but I'm not here to criticize any stereotypes of islam religion. Because you know why? That is just like being disrespectful toward muslims (you and others) and I don't know a thing about what it's like to be a muslim anyway. I have never thought that islam is a terrorist religion, and I will never think it is. One thing I know is that there are some similarities between judiasm, (or however that is spelled or said) christianity, and islam. Not a lot, but just a little bits of similarities. If you say that islam teaches you muslims to have good and reliable personality, you are probably right, and I believe that you said the right thing there. Well, most of the TV reports and many other medias are filled with loads of biases, and brings bunch of negative comments about a lot of things that they hate. Perhaps islamic religion is one of them.
Sounds like you are very angry with the fact that there are many biased facts flying around here and there through the media about islamic religion, carrying bunch of negative comments and not a single positive comments. Just treat those comments as one of those what you call it, racist comments. They are not really racist comments, but it's a good simile though, comparing negative comments of islamic religion to racist comments, don't you think? Hope that helped to make you feel better as a muslim.

I like your comment. Interestingly in a recent survey Atheists came out more unpopular than Muslims in the united states (although I'd say that those who hate atheists do so less intensely as a rule than those who hate muslims), but it seems like no matter what religion or non-religion you are there are hateful people out there who are ready to attack you. It's a crazy world, too bad these superstitions have taken hold and divided everyone.

yeah.. let them. Let them argue against me that I'm such a d@mn fool for not following God as an atheist. Well guess what? THEY are the ones who are fools, because they are being bunch of hypocrites by HATING or "dissing" the atheists because my belief is different, instead of loving them as enemies, like what Christ has taught them. In fact, I used to be a Christian, but I just couldn't follow the teachings of Christ, although I did like some of them. I guess I relied too much on reality, and Christianity and many other religions are almost opposites of reality. There are times though, that I convince myself to become a Christian again, but I am not too sure if I am really going to go back to church or not. I guess I thought I was being a hypocrite as a pretend-to-be Christian, but I really didn't obey the Christ, so maybe I didn't want to be a hypocrite. Perhaps I should change my mind and become a Christian again, but that might happen after my own little debate. Happy mylotting and enjoy :)

I think all religions teach more or less the same thing.Afterall religion is an institution that was formed , and is meant to regulate human behavior, but the question is do they do their job? I think not.None of the religions in this world are peaceful as of now. There are certain elements that spread hatred and ill will and target other religions.that is to be strongly condemned by all, no matter what religion you belong to
And another thing is that you should have the strong conviction to call an anti social act wrong and condemn it , even if it comes from people belonging to your own religion. It's only when their own people are condemning their cowardly act of killing innocents that things can be set right.here the religious leaders have a great role to play in condemning the act and boycotting anyone who indulges in anti social acts..

You know if we fine tune our conscience , then we do not need any religious leaders. It has to come from within us.Once we start respecting other religions and faiths , then there is no need for any guidance from anyone. It is only when people are not mature enough to think for themselves , that they get led by the religious leaders, most of whom are teaching the wrongs now.

normally the religious leaders are supposed to be a good example. those who are teaching wrong are mainly people who wants to have a good status in the society. they say anything just to impress people. most of the time saying anything. a true leader is the one who thinks before saying. under what circumstances he need to say it and to whom he's saying. thanks for posting.

it means fighting in the path of god and conditions are applied certainely. some of the real jihad conditions are: kill only the person that is concerned. terrorist using bombs and killing innocent people ius not doing jihad. and jihad is mainly done when your country is under attack(muslim country) thats means defense. in jihaad you don't have the right to kill woman, children, old people and other also.

Every one have to think before criticizing a religion. I am HINDU but I should not say other are doing all the wrong.Every one should have honor on others. One should respect others. We should have minimum responsibility. In INDIA no one can expect that WE ARE UNITED. Yes I have 7 friends who are Muslims. I really trust them. they are ready to do any thing for me. What I am saying is all are equal. Please think about all the people. Don't comment based on some events. Terrorists, I hate this word every time I have heard. They don't know why they are doing nonsense.Really they don't have sense. With that people only lot of members are criticizing. I really want the people to be united. Do not hate ISLAM, HINDU, CRISTIAN. WE ARE UNITED. INDIA is United. The entire world id United. We should have minimum common sense before responding to such sensitive things. Killing innocent people is very disagreeable incident ever. I really support my dear friend's review

No religion including Islam teaches violence. It is the followers, not all but a few, use the name of religion for their own good. It easier for a person to use the name of religion to mobilize people to do something wrong. The same thing is happening right now. A few persons are creating all the trouble and the persons are stereotyping them for the entire community. Because of a few miscreants, more than 90% of the good persons belonging to the community are held responsible.

I am catholic but I don't see anything wrong being a muslim, much more about Islam. Killing innocent people, kidnappings, inequalities done by other muslims can't be generalized that all muslims are like that. It is their own decision, choice to do that. I do believe that killing is a sin no matter what religion you are into because it is against the law of God and man. I am against any terrorist attacks because terrorists are wasting their time and some waste their lives and so with many innocent people. I pray that God will bless everyone of us no matter what we believe in. And grant our world the peace we all need.

A good Muslim is just the same as good Catholic.I've never had any problems with people who are honest with themselves, who believe with all of their heart and see the life as a precious gift.I could say that true believers are filled with love and they don't know hate.Hate is a weakness. If someone knows any religion that teaches to hate or to kill, I would like to know what it is.

hey thats nice to know. People like you are the one because of which the world is still good place to leave in.
I have a good friend who is a muslim and one of my friends wife was pregnant then my muslim friend donated blood to this friend's wife. Nothing is good or bad in world only thinking makes it so. Every religion has same thing in common to love you, yourself, people, country and other. help the poor and needy. Telling people about what are bad sins and how one should avoid them.
If any religions person including mine does a bad work he will be punished sometime later in his life.
And ISlam... i like the traditional food that muslims make after the EID festival.
