I can sleep with the lights on or in pitch black. It was the result of self-training on acclimatising oneself to various situations or conditions. Nevertheless I prefer having a small light so that I can see if I have to wake up before dawn. The thought of being face to face with something dangerous or poisonous without being able to see it sends shivers in my spouse.

Totally dark is my vast preference, but having been married forty odd years to a guy who has your preference it has been difficult to come to a satisfactory compromise there. I don't want him to stumble and fall, so we have a night light. Now really, in truth, he could use a flashlight, couldn't he? But you know how it goes in real life. The big gruff guy gets his way because that is easier in the long run than putting up with the grumbling.

i can't sleep well with both. i would prefer to sleep with a ray of light from the outside window. i like a dim light on so that it is not to bright or too dark. i just like the cozy feeling that the dim light brings. i find it really soothing and that ensures i don't bump on something when i get off the bed.

After we are slept we cant see anything isnt? hence I prefer darkness while sleeping. My sleep will be perturbed if the lights are on.

Hello, shiloh_222.
I can sleep with the lights on. However, it will be harder. The lights have a certain influence. They keep me awake for a bit longer. When everything is dark, it is usually easier to sleep. But I like to sleep not in the complete darkness. Only a bit dark. Lights turned off, but still a bit enlightened, to the point of me being able to know where I am going if I decide to leave my bed and start walking around. That's the perfect light condition for me to sleep.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

I am happy to say I can sleep anywhere. With the lights on or off, with or without noise, anytime.
Given the choice though, I would go with lights out and quiet. I think you get a better, deeper, undisturbed sleep.
Sweet dreams :)

For me it's impossible to sleep with lights. I really hate lights on during night time while sleeping.

Well, I can sleep with the lights on because I already get used to it. And when the lights are off, of course I will easily fall asleep. :D Actually it is better to sleep with the lights off because the body will produce some hormones that will send some signals to the brain and order the brain to shut down for awhile and the body to rest in sleep.

When I was single,I used to put off switches and slept in the pitch black dakness and I never mind that. After we had kids,we are used to have a zero watts bulb switched on all the night through. It is because our kids are not used to explore the toilets in the dark. Also, they might be scared waking up in the middle of the sleep.Only thing is we have to change those bulbs often as they go wrong due to voltage fluctuations.

I don't mind sleeping with the lights on or off, but I hate when there's noises around me. If the television is on, it has to be on mute or the volume very low before I fall asleep.
Right now I usually sleep when it's pitch black, or when the lights are on only in the hallway (I'm used to them because I've slept with them on for a long time, so I don't notice them at all now). I don't really see a point in sleeping with the lights on, it just wastes electricity, but I could do so if I had no other choice. =P

No I never sleep with lights on, I can't sleep like thst it has to be dark, the light would interfere with my sleep unless I am tired and don't get up to turn them off.

I have no problem sleeping with the lights on or off hehe. But I prefer to have a small night light on so that it will not be hard if I had to get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. Having the room light on for the whole night can also add up to our electricity bill so its better just to have a small light on. I also read somewhere that the body is able to rest more if there is little or no light.

I can not sleep if the lights are on. I need my room to be very dark, all the lights off, and heavy curtains on my window so that the moonlight does not shine into the room. I know that most people can deal with a little light, but I cant. I live in a large city and there is always traffic noise and things of that nature that I can deal with, but when it comes to getting sleep I need it dark.

Honestly, I can't sleep with the light on.. I can imagine that somebody is looking at me while I am sleeping. I want a total black out when I sleep. The light also disturbs my eyes. If it happens the light is one for some reasons while I am sleeping, I will cover my eyes or myself with a thick blanket to have a total black out. then I can sleep.
