I have the diabetes that you just need to watch your diet and take this one pill, but I was wondering with all the folk recipes, we are rather limited to what we can use to fight a cold. Sure I take vitamin C and echinicea , but it takes a whole chicken or chicken parts to make chicken soup, and sometimes we do not have it all, and we cannot buy chicken broth all the time. A good remedy is hot lemon and honey, also adding ginger, cayenne pepper in addition to the bed rest. But sorry honey is a sucrose and we have to watch that. As for the other medicines, aside from Aspirin and Tylenol, they may contain sucrose, so what does one do?

First I would like to clarify one thing. There is no such thing as a borderline diabetic you either are or you aren't. That's what the doctors say....
You can use chicken bullion cubes to make a hot drink that will help with a cold.
Since there is no cure for the common cold there is no need to waste money on all those over the counter remedies. They only cover up the symptoms.
The honey and lemon will be ok if not used 6 to 8 times a day. One teaspoon of honey wont make your blood sugar spike when mixed in a cup of hot water with lemon and ginger then sipped slowly. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Ps. You get borderline diabetics. Aka insulin resistance aka factor x. Same as diabetes 2, the difference is that your pankreas still produce insulin and the cells rejects it. If the rejection goes on untreated, then it turns into full blown diabetes. I also have it, so i know. Its a terrible thing to have.

I know the doctors say that, but I can have a little sugar, and I do not need to pr*ick my finger every day, so mine can be controlled through diet and exercise, and I can go a couple of days without that pill with no effect. To me full blown diabetes mean having to have a very strict diet, and having to use insulin. So it means that if I went on a strict diet, my diabetes would disappear, but saying full blown diabetes when you can control it by exercise and if you do not have a large tummy sticking out leaves you without hope.

I know my friend. I look pregnant. I know exactly what you are talking about. I was just clarifying to the other poster. I have had it for 3 years now. The docs say that i was supposed to have lost the tummy already, but alas, they are theorotical creatures. I am trying a strict diet now, eating only carrots, tomatoes and grean peas. Everything else is off limmits. I take vitamins as well.

Having your blood-sugaur checked only once does not deem you a diabetic, it has to be checked more than once and beyond the normal range each time. However, a little honey, some lemon juice mix in some hot water, drink that several times a day and rest, that ought to help, it works for me. You can also blend a concoction of a little alovera juice and some orange jice and to that add a dash of lemon/lime juice and drink and drink twice a day; but I would also that would probably send you to the bathroom too because of the alovera.
My recommendations are some of the natural things that I use, and am supposed to be a borderline diabetic, but am not on medications.
I wish you good health!!! Dont forget to exercise!!!
