My mother and grandmother always say never leave your house untidy you may never know how you will reach back in, meaning to say that you could fall sick and someone else has to bring you in. I think they are speaking to the embarrassment you would face in light of persons seeing you messy room but I doubt that in your sick state you would be thinking about that. With that said though I do appreciate what they were saying but sometimes it seem so hard to leave everything in place for every morning .It seems no matter how I try there is always some reason for me to rush in the morning and displace things in the process. I even tried organizing the night before and that worked for a time before I went back to my old habits.
Do you have ths problem too and what do you do ?

Your mother and grandmother sound lovely.Do they check behind your ears and make sure you put clean pants on ,just in case you get hit by a bus. That always made me laugh as that would be the least of your problems.I used to say to my mum do they check your knickers before they treat you,no that one will have to die her underwear is dodgy, mind you after being hit by a bus even clean ones might not stand up to the challenge. In answer to your question could not give a monkeys in actual fact all my mates don't care either no pride us youngsters.

A couple of times. When my son and I had to hurry for his doctor's appointment. By the time we got home, I was too tired to do the needed cleaning. So, I decided to let the mess wait the next morning. But unfortunately, my husband's relatives came to visit (in an early hour) the next day. I was still groggy from my interrupted sleep and had to pry my eyes wide open to tidy up the house in a flash.
Because of that incident, I now make it a point to "pick up and clean as I go". That way, the clutter won't pile up and that won't overwhelm me again. So, the next time I get another unexpected visits from my husband's relatives, I'm ready!

Maintaining a clean and clutter-free home does require discipline and vigilance. But when you're doing that for a very long time, the task gets easy and uncomplicated. And in my case, I have to be like that. Considering my husband who tends to be messy almost all the time!

Good technique that will never fail.I use to do that too but it seems I am back to my old messy self. The disadvantage with this technique is that it takes contiuous vigilance to ensure that small things are replaced before they turn into big mess however it will take less energy in the long run than to clean one big mess, granted this is a one time operation. So I guess one has to weigh pros and cons of this technique to decide which is more suited for their temperament

not really the house that i left mess but my room. if i am on the rush most of the time my bed really looks awful with my clothes and stuff all over the bed and i would usually fix that when i get home from work. If I am a bit early before going to work then i see to it that i fix the room and clean it as well. hope this helps.

I like when everything is organized - makes me feel better.
For myself, not for anyone else.
There are times when I can not keep clean and in order, but most of the time it's for my pleasure to do it.
Usually at night, before retiring, I clean as much as I can. This gives me satisfaction and a good night sleep.
Try it for a week and see how you feel.

This is also my problem everyday we are all rushing in the morning going to our distinations if working days. Even i was not a working mom I have also my work to do first and because all of them are rushing to finished their activities before to school so they don't arrange things in proper and it will leave to me after a while. Looking a house messy makes me feel dizzy! It was hard to be a stay at home mom with no other to do fixing all those messy things.

I think it's important to define what 'mess' means. According to my standards, Yes, I have left my house in a mess. But I am a university student, so I spend late nights studying and cleaning up and keeping my house spotless is not high on my priority list. I clean my place every week thoroughly but there is something always misplaced as I am in a rush when the week commences.

Only very very few times, I must admit. Its on days when I am extremely late in waking up. Usually there’s nobody at home, my son’s at my parent’s place and hubby’s gone on tour, so I have no such work to do. however, I have to leave for office on time. so if I am late, I just rush thru the basis, the things that just have to be done. In the rush, the house does stay untidy, though.

If I am in a hurry, I do not care what the house looks like. I will put things away if I can, and give a quick once over, but I am not going to wipe the counters clean, vacuum the floor, and take the dishes out of the drying rack. I do find it is easier to clean the house at night though. Kind of hard when your husband is watching Tv.

My house is always a mess, or at least it always seems that way. I get it clean, and not more than 48 hours will pass, and it will be a mess again. I have a husband, 2 kids and a job. It gets rather difficult at times to keep up with the cleaning. It's not fun, especially when it seems like you're the one doing all the cleaning.

Hi ronnyb! I am very meticulous when it comes to cleanliness. I really see to it that everything is clean and in order. But there are really times when I can't help but leave the house unclean specially when I have some important appointments to attend first and there's no more time to do the cleaning. But when I get home, the first thing I would really do is clean the mess even though how tired I am. It's because I don't want to relax when my surroundings is still dirty. It really give me a headache !

Yes it has happened a lot of times, specially when i go to the college in the morning i do not even arrange my bed in proper manner as it will be getting too late. I only arrange everything in my room only after getting back from the college. Yea i do get frustrated when i come back to see my room left untidy but i don't have any choice i need to go to the college in time so that I don't get expelled from my college classes.

Quite a few times I have left my house in a mess when I have rushed out in a hurry. This has happened often after I had kids. Before that, I was quite organized and was always ready to rush out after finishing my chores. But with kids, it doesn't always happen.
And about the embarassment bit...that has happened too. My son fractured his leg and a friend had to come in to drop him home....it was embarassing with the whole house in a mess....but I couldn't help it.

hi ronnyb, my dear friend, i always use to leave my house in a mess. whenever i use to leave for my work, i use to leave my house as it is. my bed as it is. nothing wrapped, nothing settled, shoes, socks, all in a mess. sometimes when i use to be late reaching home, and my house use to be in a mess, mainly my bed, i never use to clear it up. i use to shift the things a little side ways and then use to sleep in the centre of the bed. i was very lazy at that time. now too i was like this, its just that now i am married and now she looks after all this thing, i mean all this mess. she loves perfectionism. and she herself is a bbig perfectionist. she keeps all things in proper order. she is a very well organizes female, and i am very thankful to GOD that she is in my life. we are very happy together but she is all ways after me to keep things in order, organize them properly.but as you know old habits dont leave you that easily.
