I swim like a rock. LOL I can float on my back or stomach, but I cannot swim. I have tried to learn through classes, but couldn't. I can handle putting my face into the water all the way. It freaks me out. I feel like I am drowning. I don't know what causes this fear, it is just something I have. How about you, do you swim, and how did you learn?

Yes i know the basics of swimming although I am not a pro at it. I learned it at the age of 13. My cousin taught me how to swim, at first i was so scared of the water that i would only go to the baby pool but later i learned to swim. When when i reached grade 9 I was taught inn school to swim and now therefore i pretty much know how to swim and yea its a good thing to know that once you learn how to swim you really never forget it.

I learned swimming since I was thirteen years old. Although my father did not agree to allow me to learn it, but my mother insisted it's an important skill to be acquired since young age. My father worried about my safety during swimming class, but I assured that it's very safe and I was guided by an experienced teacher. I attended the swimming class every weekend at a swimming pool nearby my house. I am glad that I know swimming, and it's a lot fun. I even taught my friend how to swim when I was studying in the university.

I know how to swim. I took swim lessons from the local Rec center when I was younger but they could not teach me to swim so my dad took me to the swimming pool and he taught me how to swim. My son learned by taking private swimming lessons and my daughter is learning in a samll group setting at the local YMCA.

yes, I know how to swim :) I learnt when I was bout 4 or 5 or 6 (can't remember!) but I was very young and learnt from someone privately in their pool. Its pretty much a standard thing to learn in South Africa as a lot of houses have pools and obviously there's the ocean nearby ;)
I swam competitively for about 10 years or so and recently changed to triathlons....I'm completely at home in the water and my gf thinks I'm a fish or an otter or something in the water hahaha
I guess theres a lot of people who don't/can't really swim much huh? well, I''ll start a discussion on swimming and we'll see what tips I can give you :)

Well I can keep myself afloat for a little while! LOL I never took any classes although I did put both of my kids in classes when they were small and both of them can swim very well. I just couldn't teach them like i was taught which was "There you go learn!" LOL
