Don't take seconds--this will avoid over eating. Don't eat dessert until you are actually hungry for dessert after your dinner or lunch as digested. When you do let yourself have treats, just have a tiny portion so you still get the pleasure of the yummy taste! Also try to eat more protein so it'll keep you fuller for longer..to avoid over eating again!
I hope this helps! Ohh and maybe go on family walks after the holiday meals...Help you burn some calories and spend for family time together. Perhaps even go caroling!
Please rate me if you liked my response, i'm still new to this. THanks! ;)

I excercise daly. I'm no fanatic or anything bu I usually work out about 15-20 minutes per day. I always step it up to 20-25 minutes during the month of December for just this reason. Also if I am going to a big dinner I eat something light before I go and thus I don't over indulge at the dinner. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! LOL

I try not to eat as much...smaller portions. That way I still eat everything I like, just not as much. I have a hard time resisting the sweets though. I suggest extra exercise to help keep off the extra pounds, but it is hard to do when it is cold outside. Find someone that is willing to workout with you, that way it isn't so boring.

As long as it is only a whopping 5 that is not a major threat to one's health and safety...nor should it damage one's self esteem. But as one pound leads to another precautions are in order and my general rule is eat anything I want, but in moderation. Holiday bloat is one of many reasons we prefer to meet friends at a restaurant rather than eating in other people's homes, though, because we hate to be in a position where someone could be offended if we do not choose to chow down on their offerings. It is easier to eat sensibly when one is not eating "family style" I think. Also, I make sure of having a light snack an hour or so before a feast and also drinking water a bit before, as that keeps me from diving in so fast when the real food comes.

My suggestion: DON'T! LOL, give yourself a break, it's the holidays hehehe. Seriously though, my advice is, or what I usually do, is that I don't eat rice. I save all that carb space for either desserts or all the other good food. It seems to work for me since I haven't gained any weight since the last holiday food binge (which was last friday LOL). Apart from that, I don't think I have any more advice to give as I like to eat LOL!

The good news for myself is that I have a lean figure that even if I eat 10 times a day, I won't gain too much weight. So every christmas, I eat non-stop.lol!I eat every food being served and accept almost all invitation from my friends.hehehe
During christmas there's plenty of food always and it's so wonderful to feast on them and sometimes my stomach cannot hold them anymore. But it is always fun being with family and friends with lots of food in the table. The most weight I gain during christmas is only 1 pound and by january my weight is back to normal, so not much to worry.
