Did You Have an Advent Calendar When You Were a Kid?

When I was little I remember my parents would always buy me and my brother an Advent Calendar in December. For those who don't know what it is, it is a calender that has the month of December on it. On each day there is a little door that you get to open. Behind the door is a little piece of chocolate in the shape of something related to Christmas. You keep that days door open and then the next day you open that door and eat the chocolate. It was really exciting having this as a child knowing I would get a little chocolate surprise each day. I'm going to go out to find the calendars today to buy for my kids. Did you have an advent calender when you were little? If you have children then do they have one?

Thank you for this message. I actually saw one for sale online, but it was expensive. I wanted to try looking locally, but I forgot. I am going to try and find one tomorrow while grocery shopping.
I always had an advent calendar. I loved it and remember it fondly. I would be a few days late buying one for my daughter, but it would still be nice.

I can't remember if we had them as kids or not. i think that we probably did. My mom has started buying them for my kids. So they get to open up the door every day and get their piece of chocolate.

My aunt used to buy one for each of us when I was little. I hadnt' thought of Advent calendars in years. Thanks for bringing back the happy memories! What a great idea for a special gift for a kid. The ones that we got had a picture on each little door too, so they were great teaching devices.

My kids aunt got them each one this year and they are having so much fun with it. They can't wait each night till they can open another box and get their chocolate out. When I was little we never had them but we had similar things to count down christmas with and it was always fun.
