I thought about this discussion yesterday when I woke up late. It's our church day. And everybody was expecting me to come. I just thought of to make excuses in short to lie to them. But really some sort of problems occurred that's why I got no chance to go to church. Friends started to contact me if where I am at that time. And I didn't answer to their calls or even text them back. I'm thinking what would be the best alibi. lol!
But I thought in the other hand, it was a sinned against God even though they don't know I lied but in God's eye I did.
Whenever I didn't comply with my appointments(lol! not everytime) I just thought of to make excuses. But after the day, time to face the reality I always tell the truth even though it has a consequences I accept every bit of it. I just can't stand lying not just with the people concern but with God importantly. It always give me a hard feeling.
How bout you guys, have you felt the same way?

To lie is opposite to the virtue of honesty. You know that, don't you? To make excuses because of problems that occurred and hindered you to do the actions you ought to do, is not a lie. You have not done any lie at all just by making alibi which is true. God knows what is in your heart. We make alibi is because we are preoccupied of what others say when you miss to accomplish your appointment. A lie is a denial of a truth that you ought to speak out. Well, I feel the same with you, but for a different instance...

Yeah before, but now I realized that I don't need to lie whenever I did wrong or used alibi to be safe. Its more safe when telling the truth.

I cannot lie. I used to try when I was relly young, but I can't. I think it has to do with how I was raised. In my family it was more important to tell the truth than anything else. My parents would stand beside us (even to other adults) if we told them something was true....but if they found out we lied...well major conseqences there. If we came to them and told them the truth about something we did the punishment was not as severe.
I didn't know it then, but I do know now. A person who tells the truth no matter how bad of a thing it is, no matter how hurtful it can be to someone or themselves is someone who people will not only rely on, consider trustworthy, but they can respect that person no matter what. And I would much rather be that kind of person than someone who others try to avoid because of constant streching of the truth.
Plus, it's just easier on the soul, heart and mind to speak the truth.

Yeah, it reflects how the parents raised the child. But there are some people still haven't lucky enough to have such kind of parents that would raise them well. That's why we are lucky that we have parents that is with us, to assist us and help us to be a better person.
Very well said taface412. Thanks for the great response on this. You have a nice day!

I always tell the truth to me there is never a reason to lie. Besides if you lie it is so much harder to remember what you said when someone asks you the same question again. It's just easier to tell you the truth.

Well I think everyone in their lifetime lies one at a point or another. But I personally hate lyeing. I also feel that saying truth all the time has created problems for me many times but i still like to stand with the truth. In that way I remain clear with myself & can face the mirror. But at the same time I do understand people lie just to hide some sort of problem, embarassment in their life. So first we should make an environment where people don't have to lie only.

Yeah, I noticed that too, many are more likely to tell lie and make alibi to hide themselves. Glad that your in the true side.
Thanks for the response.

The truth will set you free. Free in mind, heart, and conscienceness. A lie builds another, then another and eventually you forgot what the real thing was you were lying about or even said. The truth is much better said. No matter what and people will respect you less when they find out you lied, your trust will be an issue. For if you'll lie about a small thing your likely to do it on something even bigger.
Trust is somethnig people have a hard time earning back along with the respect of their friends and family.

I used to lie and make excuses before I became a Christian, I mean a real Christian, not the Jesus in the Manger, Noah and the Ark type, it is hard to obey God type. It was always someone else's fault and I was blameless, the car ran out of gas, I forgot, etc. Now in the case of someone else' fault, it was not as if it were all my fault, but part of what happened was theirs and part was mine, but instead of taking partial blame, I put it all on the other person and I guess that is what can be considered a lie.
But since I became a Christian, I made it my intention to tell the truth because I do feel guilty when I tell a lie. I am getting much better.

I was like that before as well, when I wasn't converted to Christain. I always make excuses never ending excuses. Until such time I realized it wasn't right anymore. And now I just keep quiet and stay away from those people that makes me do it. Its the only way. Because I'm the only in the family who was converted from Catholic. And they felt like I was different anymore from them and they keep on teasing me to do my wrong doings before. Just say no. hehehe!
Thanks for the response, and keep your faith in Him. Have a nice day a head!

Hi, I do feel the same way as you feel especially the person that we are trying to bluff are our friends but the worst of all is the God. We feel guilty when we are with them. But to me is dont ever tell them whats happen to you on that day or to be frankly speaking keep it as your secret. This is your attitude and your morale. At the same time ask for God mercyful.

Nobody is perfect. Sometimes we lie because for good reason somehow. I lied because I don't want to complicate things. I want to make sure that my lie is just a lite not heavy. This means that,a lite lie is kind of not making an issue complex. If I do something that is not proper or not presentable, I prefer not to lie. Make sure if I do an act of lying I'll make sure that I am are ready for any consequences that may happen to me. I believe that when you lie, there is a corresponding consequences depends on the level of lying. As much as possible, do what is right and do not abuse the lite lying.

Definitely, every lies has a corresponding consequences at any given level even its lite or as huge as a mountain. Better not to lie my friend. As what you've said it was just lite or simple. In that simple lie why not just make it true instead. It would be more appreciated. Just try it for once and it will be a habit you'll never know.
Anyway, Thanks for the response, happy mylotting!

Yes Of course I do. But I definately do not lie to hurt someone. If lies can do some good to someone then they are worth it. In our childhood we have all lied for the small mistakes that we have done but as we grow older they usually are told to hurt someone or save oneself from a serious mistake. According to me this is wrong.

hi, the truth of the matter is, you have lied and that is it. been a christian and an ardent believer so to speak, you are not supposed to indulge yoursel in lying. but anyway, you have been forgiven because you realised your mistake and openly cofessed it. it happened to me most time and i felt bad each time i lie. i keep saying it would never happen again, but lo it kept coming. sometime i used to called it 'holy lies' but believe me there is nothing as such. next time try to be yourself and let your yes be yes and no be no ok? it is pretty fine when you let people or church breathen understand your circumstances at anypoint in time. hope this is a bit helpful?

I don't think lies is necessary in every situation and no one is hurt when we did it. In our eyes none but God itself hurt for what we did. For not to hurt God better not lie.
Thanks for the response!

I have found that when you lie you always get caught. Maybe you don't get caught that day, or even the next, but eventually the truth comes out. Id rather tell the truth instead of having to tell another lie to cover the original lie. It just seems that lying is something that starts with just one little white lie and then grows into something huge. Not to say that I have never told a lie before but I defiantly keep it minimal lol.

I am not good at lying. If I can't tell the truth, I just don't say anything. You can do the same perhaps. It's not good to lie and then tell them the truth the next day. If that's the case, better tell the truth now and spare yourself from lying and sinning. I have tried lying to my family and some friends. It is a burden to the self. It never gives me an easy feeling. The conscience and the guilt is there, always haunting you. I fear my conscience. It is very strong. LOL. I better be quiet than tell lies.

I made it a point not to lie. Unless absolutely, *absolutely* necessary, I would much rather tell the truth than lie. For me, the truth always seems to work - although it's sometimes not as effective as a lie, I feel much better after saying where I really am or what really happened than straying from it.
I know that, if I'm told the truth by someone, even if I do not approve of it or agree with them, I always respect them for doing the right thing instead of falsifying a tale to make things seem better through my eyes. Since I appreciate people telling the truth to me, I think that the least thing I can do is tell the truth to them. =P It may not please them, but, like me, I think everyone appreciates the virtue of honesty.
I know it's sometimes more convenient to lie, but I don't feel comfortable doing so, at all. o_o
