What's the Longest You've Went Without Eating?

Isn't it sad how lots of people around the world has to go days or longer without eating? I can't imagine what they go through day by day NOT knowing what their next meal will be or even come from. When I go just one day without eating I feel weaker and my stomach starts to hurt and growl loudly disturbing the peace, and I can't focus or concentrate on nothing I'm trying to do. The longest I've been without food is 2 days because I was on a juice diet and no food. It was supposed to be 5 days but I was starving so I didn't make it. What's the longest you've been without food? Can you go a week without food?

I went for five days with nothing to eat once when I was out of money. Luckily, I had a place to stay but there was just no money for anything but busfare to get to work. As it was, the last day I had to walk 3 miles to work. Then took my lunch half-hour to walk to the bank and cash it. No time to eat, had to get back. I bought an apple on the way back and nothing ever tasted so good! I ate it, core and all. It hurts the second and third day, like cramps. It's horrible. After that you just feel incredibly tired and hopeless. That's the longest I've gone without eating but there have been 1-3 days stretches in my life where I had no money for food. Once I picked something from a trash can behind a restaurant, a worker had just taken out the trash and the food was still steaming..someone had thrown away half a baked potato, green beans and most of a very nice steak. That was over 30 years ago. I save money like crazy now so I'll never have to go without eating again.

I can't go 5 days voluntarily without food , but if I had NO choice, NO money or just NO way of getting it, then I would have to. I just pray to God that day won't come.

There is nothing like hunger to sharpen your resolve on keeping employment and honing your skills. I doubt many US citizens have been in you position, but I suspect more than is admitted.

One place that I worked at, I was always busy. We hardly had time to eat, and therefore, it could be hours before I ate. I generally went in really early in the morning, and that means no eating then either. When I say early I mean 4 AM. I quit the job because of the lack of nutrients I was getting during a day of work... plus they worked me excruciatingly long hours. In any case, that's beside the point. I would say that there has been times when I would go without eating for atleast 12 hours. I know it's not much. Then there would be times I would go without eating for a day, or two... but that was before I started that job.

No it is not possible I can not go a week without food. This is because I am about 59 years old and it is difficult for me to keep me alive without food. Keeping you without food makes you weaker and weaker. juice is also a type of food. If you are taking juice or such other diet it means that your are satisfying your hunger. you should go one week in this type of week.

When I was a teenager, I did the typical act of abstaining from eating. Sometimes I would go several days without eating, and with diet pills suppressing my hunger, sometimes I would go a couple of weeks on only a bite here and there. It has been years since I have done any sort of fasting or went without eating for more than a day. Usually if I do not eat or eat much in a day it is because I am not feeling well. If I go too long without eating, I now get weak, feel aggrivated, and my stomach makes all kinds of irritating noises. Things I did not experience when I was younger. I doubt I could go a few days without eating naturally. It makes me feel terrible at times that most of my life I have had the choice ot eat or not when others never get that choice.

The longest I've gone without food has been about 3 days. It was for prayer and fasting. I want to go 30 days at some point but I don't think it will happen. I like food way too much.

I eat three meals a day. And sometimes I may snack on something when my son does. I couldn't imagine not being able to eat when I'm hungry. I know that some people have to go without eating though and I really do feel sorry for them. The only time I really don't eat anything is whenever I'm sick and my husband usually tries to get me to at least eat some mashed potatoes or chicken noodle soup to make me feel better. There is no way I could go a whole week without eating. I would be starving and my stomach would be growling so loud. When I'm hungry and I don't eat it makes me feel like I'm going to throw up sometimes.

I am one of those people who cannot function well without food in my stomach. LOL The longest time when I didn't get to eat during the may be about 7 hours and that is between lunch and breakfast. I metabolize food rather fast so I get hungry fairly fast too. Good thing that I also move around and so a lot of physical activities so I did not end up tipping the scale so much.

When I was in college I was a starving student and just to save money, I use to fast every Sunday, just all day. I cannot go without food at all! My stomach starts to growl horribly also, you can hear it. It's terrible that people have to go without around the world, we have SO many choices in the USA, if we can't afford food, there are always resources for us to get some, food banks, churches, I guess, even dumpters behind restraunts, etc.

I usually go a couple of days without food, but this is either down to stress or an upset stomach which means that I cannot eat. I could not go a week without food because it is just such a horrible feeling to be weak and unwell through hunger and I cannot possibly imagine what it must be like for those who do not know when they will eat from one day to the next.

Thanks God I did not experienced that all my life. And I'm deeply sorry for all those who suffered in extreme hunger especially those who are very poor.

I have gone 6 days with NO food. All I would have is a Dr. Pepper or water. I was going through a tough time in my relationship, and I was so depressed and sad, that I couldn't eat. I would try and the site of food made me sick. I dropped 9 pounds in those 6 days, and all I could do was get up to go to work for the 4 hours a day, come home and sleep the day away..... Unfortunately, that weight didn't stay off once things started to get better.... Shihtzumama

The longest I have gone without food was 36 hours. I was too upset to eat. Funny I don't remember what I was upset about.

About 36 hours. I went in to be induced and the night before my last meal was at 6pm. The next morning we checked into the hospital at 5am. The whole time I couldn't eat and being pregnant and hungry was hard lol. I didn't have my baby until 6:12pm and I didn't get into a room until 9pm so dinner was already over. I was too tired to eat anyway. I finally got to eat for breakfast the next morning. I did have an iv in so I guess that may not count b/c something was still going into me. I wouldn't be able to handle not knowing if I would be able to eat for a couple of days. I eat 5 small meals a day so I like my food and no I'm not fat.

Probably a day or two when I was horribly ill. I have gone almost a whole day on purpose without eating because I simply was not hungry...but when I did get hungry I could not quench the hunger, so I don't try that anymore. I could not imagine what it would be like to not have food...I mean any food. I know what it is like to not have the food you like, but still have some other foods to eat...but that is completely different. I thought about once doing one of those detox diets where you fast for a various amount of days (depending on the level of detox you want)...it was for dieting and natural well-being. I culd not make it past the fist day...and I tried doing the weekend detox where they suggest you do not do it while you would be working....because it would make you disoriented...well like I said I did not follow through with that one.

I have tried a 48 hour famine. It was supposed to show some of the suffering around the world and to be a humbling experience. It did make me very appreciative for the food that is always available to me. This is the longest I went without eating at all. I cannot imagine not eating for an entire week unless you slept most of the time. My body seems to shut down when I do not eat. I get shaky and have headaches, so I do not think that I would try not to eat for an entire week.
