Do You Always Respond To The Discussions You Read?

I will have to admit that there are a lot of discussions that I read here on MyLot that I don't respond to. I just sometimes enjoy reading the posts and the responses and feel that I've learned something. I also feel at times that I don't really have a comment, suggestion, idea, tip, etc that would fit into the discussion so it would be better to not respond. Do you ALWAYS respond to EVERY discussion you read? Or are you like me and sometimes feel like you don't have anything to contribute to the discussion and just move on to the next discussion?

No. I sometimes open a discussion out of curiousity. Or The discussion title sometimes is interesting but the entire discuss is a different story so I don't respond.

Yes, I too often read entire discussions including the responses and still do not make a response myself. It could be for a few reasons this happens. One is that everything I would have said has already been covered by earlier respondants or when I read it entirely, I realise I know nothing at all about the topic so I can add nothing to the discussion. One final reason is that there have been times when I have read a discussion and then had doubts about the discussion. By that I mean it could end up being deleted as the topic or discussion contravenes the rules. Personally I can see no valid reason to respond to a discussion just because I have read through it as well as the responses already made. Yes it does take time to read and absorb the entire discussion sometimes, but top pretend to know something I have not the first idea about is wasting everyone's time. Also there is the possibility by pretending knowledge, that incorrect information could be passed on to someone who takes it at face value. No one person can now something about everything. Or at least not in enough depth to give a decent response to every discussion that is started here on myLot. On that basis, I am more that happy to stick with those subjects that I have more than just a little knowledge.

Thank you very much for giving me best response for this discussion. And in the future, I hope that most of the discussions you read, is missing that little element which allows you to respond and add something to the discussion. lol

Well thank you for giving such a wonderful response to my discussion. I hope you find more of my discussions interesting and you have something that you can add to them too. Happy MyLotting friend!

I definitely read more than I respond to. Part of the reason is a lot of the discussion are about the same thing, but often it's because people have already responded and I have nothing else to add.

I don't respond to every discussion that I read. Sometimes I read a discussion just because I am interested in the topic or because I would like to learn something new. There are many topics that I don't know the least bit about, but I am still interested in reading about them. I only respond if I feel that I have something useful say.

Hello, singlemommy. Most of the discussions I read are responded by me too. However, not all of them. Sometimes I want to learn about something, and the title catches me. It is a subject that got my interest, but I don't have any knowledge to contribute. Then I read the discussion, go through the responses, learn what I wanted to and just move on to the next one. I believe it is the correct thing to do, since I did not have anything important to add. As you said, I will only respond if I feel like adding something to the discussion. If I cannot give any information on the discussion, then I just skip it. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Hello There! Most of the time yes, I do respond to their discussion once I was able to read it and find it interesting but there are times that even if I read it, I can’t get myself respond to the discussion for lost of words… I mean, either I can’t relate to the discussion though I find it interesting or simply, I have nothing to share since I haven’t experienced it… For me, responding to a discussion must have thoughts or at least, you must know what you are talking about… but I try to respond to them but with a very simple thought or question just to let them know that I read and appreciate their discussions. Happy Holidays! And Happy Mylotting! Cheers!

Well I must admit I don't respond to everyone mainly because I am really interested in posting my opinion on that discussion. However that being said - I would rack up some more money if I did post to more discussions! ((HUGS)) Momma B

Normally I will read those topics with interesting titles then I will respond to most of the topics that I have read. I like to give my opinions to topics which I find are interesting. Lol. I think most of the Mylotters whom post their topics will like their topics being responded.

I'm like you... I dont always respond to discussion I've read. There are times I dont feel like responding, I don't like their post and such. I'm a bit moody though, when I feel like it, I feel like doing it! Anyway, sometimes I cant realate to their post or I dont understand their post so I just exit that discussion and look for another that catches my interest.

No, I don’t always respond to all the discussions that I read. Some are so interestingly worded in ‘today’s top’ section that I just feel tempted to read them. However, having read, understand that either I don’t have anything to comment (like you) or that the experience described is so alien to me that I should not comment. Many times, the experience described is interesting to read but there’s nothing to comment really. At other times, I refrain simply because I have burnt my fingers before by responding to ‘foreign’ discussions, which apparently I had no ‘right’ to. Sometime I do get upset by such caustic remarks, sometimes I do see the merit in them, but in a global discussion forum, I guess everybody’s invited. Anyway, so as I said, I do not reply to all discussions that I read.

Most of the time I do that. I read the good ones and store it somewhere in my brain but can't really give a response to it. Don't know why, but maybe I can't relate much to that discussion, I lack confidence sometimes. That is my problem that needs to be corrected.

I do not respond to all, too. When I'm interested in the discussion or I have some ideas about these discussions I'll respond to. I do not like to say something which is useless.
