Well, I havent had one on my body so far so I dont have any personal experience to share on this one.. but yes I have overheard people saying it is risky.. although I often see many people carrying it proudly on their body...
One instance I can remember is of my friend who had some weird scratches on his hand where he had his tatoo...
What do you think?

If you go to a reputable, licensed tattoist, assuming they are licensed in India, then the risks are very small of anything happening other than waking in the morning and wondering what on earth have I done. The other danger is that you'll be back there next week getting another one, they can be a bit addictive.

I think when deciding to have a tatto done, you need to make sure you choose a reputable tattoist who does the tattoo for you. Therefore you can ensure that your tattoo is done as safely as possible. I would say the biggest risk is whether or not the person that does the tattoo is using clean instruments, as if they are not, there is a very high risk of getting an infection.
Are you thinking of having a tattoo done?

i totally agree with you the risk in that part is the instrument being used on you that would even lead you to such communicable disease such as hepatitis or much even worse. Another risk is if the community your living in is tattoo accepted as an art already because if not they think you bad thoughts such as you are a bad person. Another risk is if you are a keloid former and what after having a tattoo you will form keloids.

There is a possible risk of developing abnormal or minor skin conditions that a person gets from a permanent tattoo. The needle part on the tattoo instrument that an artist use can become unsterilized because we never know when that needle ever pricked a former client that is currently suffering from AIDS/HIV/STD. Other clients after getting a permanent tattoo, develop rashes or skin conditions due to the ink's chemical reaction to the sensitive skin (allergic reaction). The ink used for tattoo services contains poison or harmful chemicals as far as I know.

I have three tattoos and it's all about where you go and what you look at when you go. By that I mean that the shop is clean and sterile and that they use new needles and they show you the packaged needles and them opening them for the first time. Believe it or not Tattoos now adays are pretty safe if you make sure that everytihng is a sterile environment.

i've just had one done a week ago, on my right wrist. so it looks more like a braclet and can sorta get hidden with a watch if needed. i didn't find the tat i wanted on the net nor at the studio, but in my head i knew what i was wanting. so we designed one. didn't hurt that much really, just near the bone and under side of my wrist. but as soon as the guy stoped doing the tat it didn't hurt. It's not as painful as having a child.
it's taken me nearly 10 yrs to go get one done, am i'm thinking about more (have to find the tat i want thou) i went to the guy who did my belly button bout 4/5 yrs ago, he's still in the same shop. it was consistently busy while i was there, people coming in and out asking about tats and pirecings.
yes you've got to do all the research, and places you'd like go to. my boss has a few tats, and one thing she said was if you can't smell the cleanness of the place leave. price is another thing, how much you want to spend.
life is risky, so whats new in that. may as well have some fun while you can.

I suppose getting a tattoo can be risky although you need to take precautions. I have one tattoo on my left forearm, it's a tiny tattoo and I thought that I would experiment many years ago and so I chose this. I went to some place in Soho in Leicester Square and the chap seemed to know what he was doing. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo then you should perhaps do some research and only visit a reputable joint. Don't just have it done anywhere. Make sure you think about everything as well as there is no turning back once the tattoo is imprinted on your body! Andrew

Yes I agree. It can be risky if the tattooist does is not hygienic about his/her needles. There are diseases that can be spread by blood contact if the needles is not changed or sterilised between clients.
That is not a matter of tattoos being risky but the tattooist not taking care to protect the health of the client.

I am very astonished to see people who choose to have tattoos do the body. has tattoos is very risky and dangerous. Seen from the side of health will not recommend that. That is as harmful to the body which is given by God to you because we know that the condition of your body will not be back as the original.

I do not think tattoos are risky or dangerous. They can hurt and they are hard to remove if you decide you do not like them later in life. If you are sure that you want one for life then find a reputable tattooist.
I think the only risk is a tattooist who does not take care to sterilise his needles between clients. There can be a risk of blood viruses carried if there is a quick turnover between clients and the needles are not cleaned etc.

I have written an article on tattoo in helium about 6 months before.
Tattoo could be risky sometimes. In the process of permanent tattoo first customer's chosen design of tattoo is drawn on the skin at choice location of the body. Then needles are pierced several times and special colored ink are inserted. Depth of needle piercing is very shallow and felt very little discomfort during the process.
The risk involved are:-
1. In very rare cases there could be infection.
2. Researchers has established a few cases of skin cancers which was resulted from tattoo.
3. After becoming elder one may feel the very liked tattoo as most unwanted mark on the body. Removing tattoo is very difficult task and sometimes is not fully removed. Laser treatment itself is expensive and some times leave with white spots on the skin from where tattoo has been removed.

Tattoo can really be risky if you will let your body be "tattooed" on a non-professional shop or something like that. Sharing of needles is one of the reasons why tattoo can be harmful because a lot of medical illness are brought about by exposure to blood or body fluids. like aids, hepatitis.. etc. I didn't mean to scare anyone but we must all remember to be careful and to take really good care of our body. Stay healthy! Stay happy! Cheers!

I certainly have tatoos and they arent risky if your going to a place that is using new sterile syringes and needles. They dont cause anything some people swell at the tatoo site for a few days but nothing serious.

You need to make sure the tatoo shop is clean. I do not know where you live or what regulations there are in place. If you are in the states there are regulation they must follow. Make sure the needles are steralized and wrapped in air tight packages. Clean new ink is laid out in steralized small tubs. They wash your skin before and after the tatoo process. The tatoo also must be wrappewd when you leave the shop. Only wash it with unsented soap, antibacterial soap. Then use a lotion with no scent to moisturize the tatoo. This is all very important for the best result. No sun on the new tatoo for as long as the artist tells you, I can't remember just how long. It is really important for you to follow the directions so your tatoo can have the best healing time. I have 2 tatoos. One on my calf, and one on my back. I hope this helps you.

it is not only risky but dangerous. It comes with the needle use and where it came from. AIDS are being acquired through contaminated needle and it might infect someone who are having a tatoo art of his/her body.
