Does this make any sense? It doesn't to me

Over the weekend I made my favorite cookie for a cookie exchange that we're having in our neighborhood tomorrow. After I was done baking, I asked my husband if he wanted some and he said "No, I don't like sugar cookies". Well, these aren't sugar cookies, I don't like to make sugar cookies. He insisted that he only likes cookies that have something in them, that aren't just dough - like chocolate chip. Well, these weren't just dough, they had cinamon things in them and colored sugar sprinkled on them. He said they were just dough and he didn't want it - I don't even think he's ever tried them.
Do you have to "have something in" your cookies or do you like the "just dough" ones too? To me, a cookie is a cookie - unless you put coconut on it then I wont go near it.

Yes, to me a cookie is a cookie. I love to eat most of them, even sugar cookies. It doesn't matter that there is nnothing in the dough like chocplate chips, nuts or something else. The dough can have a flavoring like vanilla to add flavor to it.

Sounds like we need to send sweets to two sweet guys. I think anything would be a success if we served it to you two.

Well, with me around, the dough usually only gets half to the oven - the rest gets eaten while I'm making them!!!
I remember when we were kids, we would about make ourselves sick from eating cookie dough all day when my mom made cookies! We would always have either grilled cheese or maccaroni and chees for dinner on those nights.

Sounds like maybe he needs to make his own. I guess he would not like snickerdoodles, either. I like them all, and seldom bake them because they call my name, loud and long until every last one of them is gone. I read so many yummy recipes, I will have to get busy, now that my work schedule is slacking off a little.

I have not made these kinds of cookies in probably 15 years... I just go over to my Mom's and eat them there. That way I don't have TONS of them calling my name - yeah, they do that here too!!!
I'm going to a cookie exchange tomorrow night or I wouldn't have even made these. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the cookies I get tomorrow - most likely donating them to a food bank or I might send them overseas to my son... But if they stay in the house I might as well just slap them on my thighs!

I guess it all boils down to personal preferences.
For me, a cookie is a cookie. Plain or with fillings, I love them just as much!
Now that you know his preference, you will understand the next time if he refuses to touch the cookies you bake. And in this case, if you ever make them, you will know what to do to avoid him adding to his waist line!

Overall, he's not as big of a sweets person as me, he'd kinda picky about them. Better for him because he stays lean!

Yeah, they're long gone now! I think it's so funny because he ate the ginger snaps - which he's always said he hated - and they don't have anything in them either, they're just flavored dough. Men are weird

I am glad he did not realize he was eating just dough. My hubby slept through dinner last night and after I had cleaned up the mess he woke up hungry. I then had him get it out himself.

I don't know, I mean I like cookies lol. Does your husband not like peanut butter cookies either? What about brownies with nothing in them? I'm not picky. The only thing I don't like is anything with raisins in it. I am not a raisin fan.

My sister will not eat anything with raisins in them. A long time ago she was eating some of our grandmothers cinimon buns and thought it was pretty cool that there were raisins in them - our grandmother never put raisins in them before. They were actually ants... Since then she can't eat raisins.

Nope it doesn't make any sense to me. My husband would rather have cookies with nothing on them. I Personally don't care. I will eat any kind of cookie. To me a cookie is a cookie.

Well technically any cookie that has sugar sprinkled over it, ever if it is colored sugar are sugar cookies. The only cookie that is plain that I like are shortbread and they are made of butter, but because of the amount of butter in them, they are not considered as sugar cookies. I like peanut butter cookies, cookies with nuts or chips or both, coconut cookies, cookies with raisins, so I do not like plain cookies.
So I am sort of like your husband. Next time skip the colored sugar, add some raisins and some nuts and you will do fine.

hmmm.... Then I guess ALL my mom's cookies at Christmas time are sugar cookies because she docorates them all with colored sugar. The peanut butter, chocolate chip, press, and sugar cookies. I'll have to tell my husband that he wont want any since they're all sugar cookies now :) Eh, he wont really mind too much though because he's trying to to eat as much junk - aren't we all????

As Hubby says "Tookie, Tookie, Tookie" LOL He chants that when he wants me to bake him some...it drives me nuts and I bake them to get him to quit LOL
I like mine both ways. I like ones that have raisins, choco chips, mint chips, fruits, m&m's, nuts, you name it in them. I also like some plain like the danish cookies...Oh man, those things are to die for. I just bought me a tin yesterday and I'm already planning my first hot cocoa and 2 cookie morning (I have to ration them or I eat them all at once) LOL
[b]MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Well, any kind of cookies are my favorite for as long as it taste good.. I don't know how to make a cookies so it means I don't care what ingredients does it put for as long as it taste good and safe to eat. Same as you, for me "cookie is a cookie".. I think your husband just don't like to taste your cookies that's why he keep on giving reasons.. He can just tell you frankly that he don't like to taste your cookie that's why he keep on giving so many reasons about his like and dislikes about cookies.. These are just some of my opinions..

The only sugar cookie recipe I know of is my grandmothers, and it's NOT simple. One of the ingredients it "add milk until it's the right consistency". I let my mom make those! Hope you find one to make.

Hi reiny! Nope! I just love cookies! It doesn't matter to me!
Just as long as it doesn't have raisins or prunes in it then
keep them away from me! And I love coconut too! I love sugar
cookies! They are some of my very favorite! I had a neighbor
years ago who baked the most incredible Christmas Cookies
I have ever tasted! She made so many different kinds. I
don't know how many kinds she made but they all were amazing!
I used to love to go up and watch her bake so I could taste
the samples! Every single one of them were unbelievable!
So I don't know about your husband, but he sure is missing
out on alot by not tasting cookies because they don't have
something in them!lol

When we were little and we'd help my mom make cookies we'd get to eat the "testers" all day long - those were the ones that broke or got smooshed or something. Amazing how when you have 4 or 5 kids "helping" there tend to be a LOT of testers!!!

I agree with you 100%. A cookie is a cookie, but don't get me wrong though I do like a cookie with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips in them once in awhile. Although I like the ones without stuff in it more because you get the taste of the dough better. Plus we try to eat cookies that have nothing in them because of our 2 year old son. He is a chocolateolic, so we try to keep him away from it because he gets hyper from chocolate. But other then that my son is a big sugar cookie fan. My hubby and I are big fans of snicker doodles.MMMM thoes sound so good right now. To be truthful I sometimes make cookies that calls for chocolate chips without the chocolate chips because the dough taste so good without the chocolate chips. So I agree with you that a cookie is a cookie.
Happy Mylotting

I've only made chocolate chip cookies without the chips when I've gotten to the bottom of the batch and there's no chips left. They are good though!

sorry but I Can relate to what you're husband is saying. I will eat sugar cookies (with icing on them)but I would much rather have chocolate chip or the ones with the Hershey kiss on top, oreo's, oatmeal, no bake or my favorite the oatmeal raisin. I think that with so many different kinds , maybe we are just spoiled. Sorry, I'll go to my room now

sugar tastes good in fact great no one dislikes sugar but just think about the disadvantages of eating more and more sugar, as we all know eating more and more sugar causes health problems so prefer cookie with out sugar some times just for taste i may take cookie with sugar
