Yes, why not i am typing at a jet speed all this while. I am not bragging but it is an honest account. My mom send me for typing classes during school holidays in those days when I was still schooling and have been doing a lot of assignments and that improve my typing further. It is not really that difficult to type fast. The fingers do have 'eyes' too.

Yes its called tuch typing and I did it at school. But as my english was very poor at the time (had been in Australia for 5 months when I started school here) I had to look at every word because a) new word, b) dont know what it means and c) dont know how to spell it. So I had to look both at my fingers and the monitor and the book that I was doing the coopying from so in other words it was hard. I can tuch type but I feel more confident when I look at my finger but I know where every letter is and I do type fast (after 9 years on the internet it would be a shame if I dont)

Well, its only practice and practice. Typing with eyes closed is equal to typing with eyes on the screen. Many people keep their eyes on screen while typing. I also learnt typing long time back which, though is helping me a lot, but still I have to see keyboard while typing. Have a nice day!

I just learn to type when I do alot of paper works in college, I do type so slow back then and struck one letter over another desperately searching for it. Yeah, I learn from basics and never had a formal education on typing. But I think I have went through that, and as far as I am concerned, I am pretty well good now, I can manage to look at the screen without looking at the keyboard.

I went to secretary school 25 years ago and i could type blindfolded.
Now i just got back into typing so it takes a while to find the right letters again.

well i ahve never tried to type with my eyes closed ever but....
they can probably do it cos they may have learnt typing or they have been sitting on the computer for so long everyday and typing so much that they have gotten used to it now.....
i started sitting at the computer since i was around 13..... and now i am 24.... so i should say i have a lot of practice and also i love typing so when i used to sit without internet connection i used to open up the notebook and sit and type anything that used to come to my mind......
i guess that practice got me better now.....
no i am practising to look at the screen instead of looking at the keyboard .... which is hard in itself so you can forget about closing your eyes,.... maybe this is the second step and then you can start closing your eyes and see what you really manage to get onto the screen.... :P

I don't need to see the keyboard, but its nice to see what I'm typing. I have my keyboard tray under the desk, so I can't see what I'm hitting in the way of keys, I have been a data entry operator so I do type pretty well, sometimes I stick spaces in so I like to know I can back up and fix that (I'm also known to skip the last letter and start the next words when I'm thinking faster than I can type - and I sure can do that!)

Yes I can type with my eyes shut or not looking at the keyboard. I was taught to type on on typewriter not a keyboard or computer. I had two years of typing, that does not mean I do not make mistakes.

I have learnt typing when I was just five years old. I do not look at the keyboard at all when typing. My eyes are only on the screen. It is just a question of habit. I will be able to type even if I am blindfolded. In fact sometimes when typing I do close my eyes for a few seconds to rest and do not stop typing at that time.

The only time I actually look at the key board is when I am typing my password for my e-mail. And, I only do that because my fingers are always hitting one wrong key on that word, for some reason, so I look at it when I type it.
The reason I guess a lot of people can type with their eyes closed is because of the way we were taught to type. Well, they didn't make us close our eyes, but we didn't look at the keyboard when we were typing. We were taught where the home keys are, which fingers go on which keys, and you just practice until you don't have to see the keys to type anymore.

I never got the hang of typing when I took it in school, but when we got our computer, I was on it so much that I quickly picked it up, and have been typing my little fingers off ever since.*L*

I can do it, it takes alot of practice. I'm not very good with punctuation (spelling) though lol.
But most people can get what I am trying to get across. lol!!!!
Thinking about it actually, I don't know how I started to be able to do it. Typing class probably.

That's so surprising for some one who types with middle right finger! yes, i have to have my eyes on the key board and spell out each letter - that's funny but true riya. I think, we are on the same boat.

Even though my job involves computers all the time, I am quite messy with the keys. apart from one MT diploma, I hardly learnt anything to do with computers ever. But, i have a considerable speed and more pressure, more good I get at it.

It is not a big deal, I can very well type with my eyes closed, provided that my main fingers are set on the nodal keys. Actually, typing something is a reflex action, therefore, who know typing well, need not look at the Key Board, at all. I can type out with seeing the Key Board. I can type at a pretty good speed, may be 45-50 words per minutes. For the past few days, I was facing a problem, the matter which I would type will appear on the screen after delay of few seconds, but I would not stop, I continued with my words and always would remain confident that what I typed it would appear correct after sometime on the screen and it did.
You can also learn typing, there are many software available, if you do some practice, say for 15 days, you can very well learn it or please call me over there I'll be your typing tutor.........LOL!

ya, i can do it. I hardly ever glance at the keyboard while i type. It is all in the placement of your hands when you start. I took typing in highschool and just loved it. the computer keyboard is very similar to the typewriter. You could have someone teach you and then you just practice. I learned on an unmarked keys. It is a very good thing to know. I typed for a living for a while and it is something I've used my whole life.

I guess, when I am so "immersed" infront of the computer, I can type without even looking as to what keys I am striking at. It has to do with familiarity of the keyboard.
