That is not who i am. You got it all wrong.

I had a tough time this morning trying to convince an electoral officer that the details he had on record was not me. The name was different ,the address correct and he would not for a moment accept that i was whom i claim to be. I did not exist in his records . After a lot of persuasion , convincing and explanations short of banging my head on his table , i managed to convince the guy and get him to prepare the identification for me. To add to it the quality of the webcam photo he took for the id is so pathetic , i don't know who is in the picture. Have you ever had to go through an instance of trying to convince someone on your identity ?

So you are persona non-grata then alok? Sort of like "The Saint"! lol. I have had to go through this on many occasions when applying for visa's etc and the more information I seem to give the officer's, the more they want further validation and will argue its validity. At one time in Mumbai, I even had to take a policeman to my aprtment to meet my landlord and show him my residence just to prove it was me living there and I was who I said I was! Apparently my passport, birth certificate, work contract, drivers licence, work photo ID and marriage certificate were not enough! It's so frustrating when this happens but I am glad to see you managed to work your own stuff out eventually. And who in this world has ever had an appealing ID photo anyway?

The Saint. But i thought he was an assasin. So you have had this problem as well .It must have driven you against the wall. I did manage to work it out James, but what do i do with an id in which i do not look like who i am. Thanks for the response

Having an ID that does not seem to be you means that you get to moonlight alok! MOONLIGHT! Very much like The Saint, but minus the assassinations.....

See, I have always doubted your existence and even when being asked you were skeptical! You believe in PERCEPTION REALITY, now what is that!! I do not blame the officer. How can he believe that blurred, dubiously manipulated looking photo with a wrong name on it! And after 26/11, he has every right to question your existence. And as for me, I never had to go through that for I may be a responsibly irresponsible, weirdly matter-of-fact person but I have my facts all straight.

But that was not my mistake Mimpi . He add all the details all wrong , someone else's name residing in my residence. No photo. I believe in the perception reality, but the guy made me for a moment think that i do not exist anywhere at all. now i have the id, but i still wonder if it looks like me. So do i exist ?

I can relate to you. It is a real tedious, boring and cumbersome job to get the Voter Identity Card made (I understand you are referring to that). They people are so careless and hopeless that after having seen the approach and attitude, you will like banging you head on the wall. I also did not have good experiences, while getting my VIC made and finally when it was delivered the photograph on it was just disgusting and repulsive, but what to do, we have no option.

Poor you. It sounds that you are from my very own India, so everything like this is possible with government agencies. I can even see the funny side of this, what with you trying to prove yourself. Maybe you should have tried to show him some other document like passport or some fixed deposit o r whatever with your name and address. Anyway, so long as the work got done, Amen. Something like this has never happened to me, so thankfully Im saved from all this. Anyway, vote carefully after you get your electoral card.

When I'm on my way to India, I get a little bit trouble in the Philippines immigration telling me that I have fake passport and so on. I have few visas and stamps on my passport and they never question me before. All of sudden this woman immigration officer, told me that my passport is fake and she kept checking it through pages and ask me some questions, thankfully the question and answer doesn't lasts for a long time. Actually my passport has been wet a couple of times, because I just put it in my bag without cover and put bottled water at the same time not knowing that my passport is there also, lol. At least you manage to convince the guy and I think that is important.

That must have been avery awkward situation Cjay. Thankfully it did not take long for you to convince them. I was able to convince the guy, had i not i would have had to run around a long time as today was the last day for issuing the id. Thanks for the response.

this may sound stupid but it really did happen to me..we were married in the chruch who took our signatures, after that we both became busy in our jobs, that we both forgot to get a official registration.it was only recently(after 10 years of marraige)when we had to renew our passports,we needed this certificate.we had no choice, but to get ourselves registered.we had a harrowing time,as my looks like a teenager and me an old woman(not literally, but there are some changes)finally after lot of haggling,we did manage to get.

There are people who manage to get their gender wrongly written in the records. What do you think would be the procedure they would have to go through to prove their gender???

No. Yet, when I have to go through processing some pertinent documents, I make sure that I carry 3 valid identifications with me as supporting proofs. If there's a problem with entries, I always handle it as a professional myself. You could ask for a "legal officer" in that agency or the proper authority who could address the problem once there is such a problem occurs.

I haven't had any experience as bad as you did, alokn but I always get people calling me by my wrong last name. You see, my last name consists of two names and the latter of the two is a girl's name, so I always have to correct people that I contact myself.
