Over the years, we have seen a few movie remakes like Texas chainsaw massacre, The hills have eyes, Halloween, and The Fog. (Just to name a few.)
Do you think this trend should continue or should we be happy with the original versions of these films? Also, If you would like to see more movies done this way, what movies do you think should be remade? All opinions are welcome, as always.

I am not into remaking old movies because in my own opinion, those old movies should be preserved in the moviegoers memories as something special, remaking them will disrupt their myth and theme. The problem with movie industry nowadays is that they seem could not make their own story or original story that will be made into movies or even television soap operas. It seems that todays directors, producers and screenwriters lack talents and creativity.
It is nice that we only watch the film once in our lifetime to showcase the talent of our filmmakers. Remaking old movies is an indication that they lack talents and creativity, well this is just my own opinion because I am not really infavor of remaking old movies.

Actually the ones that you mentioned pretty much sucked lol. The best remakes were the mummy war of the worlds and im sure the day the earth stood still will be one of them. I dont know which movies should be remade. Maybe arsenic and old lace maybe even though I cant see it being remade. And I havent seen to many classic movies latley.

It depends on the movie.
Some remakes are really bad.
You already know the story why do it over again.
I rather watch a movie i never seen before.

You have made a very valid point. Some are just the same story with a couple of new things added in to enhance the movie somewhat. But then you have complete remakes where the story is a complete departure from the original. Thanks for your response, missybear.

I think some movies should be left alone, but then I've seen movies that was better than the original version. When I was little I watched all of the Planet of the Apes movies, which I really liked back then so when the new version came out I wanted to see it, to me it just wasn't as good. There are some movies that I just can't see making a new one like E T,Jaws,Ghost,Gone with the Wind, just to name a few. I can see why they remake movies though, I watched to remake of Walking Tall and I told my son about the original movies,I think there are three, when my son got the movie he that he watched a little bit of it but he couldn't get into it, could you picture a 20 year old or younger sitting down and watching 20 or 30 year old classic?

I certainly can understand where you're coming from, sweetashoney. Imagine the younger generation sitting down to movies like A small town in Texas, Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry, or Convoy, just to name a few. I'm sure they would pass out from boredom or get up and walk away.
You're right, I think there are some that should be left just as they are and then there are those that might be really good once they are updated to the modern standards.
Thanks for your views.

i think that the movies should be remade if they come out as good as the first. there are some movies that i could just say were horrible compared to the first.
