Do You Have Satellite or Cable?

In the early days, someone probably denounced cable by saying, "Television is like water, and no one will ever pay for something they can get for free". Still, people subscribed. Cable provided a tremendous service for those who couldn't receive signals by local affiliates. It rapidly became part of the television landscape.
Fifty years later, the television world is littered with cable conglomerates who now compete with satellite companies by offering hundreds of digital channels and consumer-friendly interactive services. Their goal is to get your business.
Which one do you have? Satellite or cable?

I would love to have satellite but we are not allowed to have our own personal dishes! I live in a block of flats and they are strict on things like this. So, I have to have cable, I have no other choice. I am very happy with the cable service that I receive though. I have over a hundred channels and I am forever pressing the buttons on the remote control! Andrew

Cable does offer plenty anyways, you're right. People that don't watch TV a lot don't really have need of more channels and such. The downside in your situation is that satellite is cheaper, so that sucks for you. =[ If I was in your situation, it wouldn't really about the differences between the two services, but more about having the choice. There's really nothing to argue about, though, since you're content and, hey, that's life, eh?

i have a cable connection.
Satellite is having better quality pictures and is best suited for televisions having a higher screen size than the 21 inch. In cable, the picture will look like streched in large screens and the true quality is obtained only in satellite connection.
In satellite, we can choose our choice of channels but we don't get this freedom of choice in cable connection.
happy mylotting

In our house, we have cable connection. We prefer this type of connection for our TVs because we have lots of channel to watch to and there is no interruption. We have tried satelite but there are interrurtion and when it's raining or heavy wind experiencing, the connection is interrupted and we have limited channels to watch to. And the scary part is that when there is lightning we should turn off the TV so that our TV wouldn't be damaged.

I personally have cable (Comcast). I have many friends that have cable and I have many friends that have satellite. I havent really been able to get any of them to tell me why theirs is better than the other so I just stick with cable. I'm open to change though, but it has to be justified to make the switch.

We have cable at home. Cable came to India in the 80s (I think) before that TV watching was was a very boring form of entertainment with the National TV only showing whatever it felt like (most of it was 'educative' lectures by officious looking boring men and women) with a sprinkling of entertaiment programees. However, with the advent of cable TV our world changed overnight. What a rush to get connections and over months and years the gossip was only about who watches what. Funny part is that now with over a 100 channels and most of them showing the same 'entertainment' soaps and serials and reality shows...to me at least it has become as boring as our national TV was. I do still subscribe to the cable, mainly for good sports coverage and some good channels like Discovery, NatGeo and such.

Neither at the moment because I'm watching through the internet. Yet, I'm planning to have a cable connection in the future, it's just that... I have free tv at the moment and well, the programs that I like are shown anyway.

I just switched back to cable about a month ago and I am happy that I did. I live in an area where it rains a lot and my satellite was always losing reception. It was hard to keep up with the weather with no tv. I am much happier with my cable now and it is costing me about the same and I actually have a few more channels now than I did before.

We have satellite and cable here. We have satellite because it's cheaper than cable for us, and it's my parents' priority to watch the channels from Serbia (we live in Abu Dhabi, as you mentioned... xD). We bought a satellite and have it every day, while we would have to pay for cable each month - and knowing Abu Dhabi, it's just a rip off. xD We don't have weather problems here either, so it just makes more sense to have it instead of cable. =P
Satellite doesn't offer many good channels (those are the ones you have to pay for), but it allows for most of the ones we need. We have cable as well but we use it just to get those "extra" channels with good movies that we don't get on satellite for free.
Hope that made *any* sense. xD

Neither. I can't afford it. It is $60 per month just for the basic in my area.
