I personnally like to say Merry Christmas. To me it is more than a seasonal, secular holiday. Political correctness is getting old. I found a really cute video concerning this very thing. Check it out.

I say both, althoughI probably say Happy Holidays more. It really has less to do with political correctness than the simple fact that saying Happy Holidays covers a longer period of time. To me the holidays encompass the time period from Thanksgiving thru New Years. Christmas is only one day during that time period. I send out Christmas cards and ecards to my friends and family that celebrate Christmas, and I send out Holiday cards to everyone else, as I have friends of many faiths and beliefs. So, I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Good point! We do tend to get 'in the holiday mood' starting with Thanksgiving until the end of the year. So, you're right...Happy Holidays encompasses about 5 weeks of time.

I like Merry Christmas too. But there is a time when Happy Holidays is appropriate. There are several holidays that are close together. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah. Ramadan, New Years, That way you don't leave anyone out or offend anyone.

I say Merry Christmas and I find it hard to find cards with the Christmas message on. I do not like it when store people say Happy Holidays. Look outside. Does it look like July and August to you? It certainly does not to me, and that is when we had our holidays. This is Christmas after all.

For me, it is definately MERRY CHRISTMAS. As a Christian I feel Christ is the main meaning for Christmas anyways, and so why not say it as it is meant to be said as well. It disturbs me when they try to say it is not Politically correct to say Merry Christmas, as was not the Constitution first based on Jesus from the beginning as well?

Now what have you heard. I heard online petitions were not valid. I don't know. I glanced at that site, and totally agree. People forget that to alot of people it is a religious holiday, not always all about gifts. I will be taking my two young daughters to church after present opening.

I just can't stand Political Correctness, this to me seems to be many things that is wrong with the world today. In Some parts of the U.K. they are trying to change this season to 'Winter Holiday' instead of Christmas. Funnily enough, for the last few years the first Christmas adverts on television are from a Jewish owned store and a Muslim owned one, so if they are happy for us to celebrate Christmas, then why can't everyone else?
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to everyone. Lang may your Lum Reek.

I do believe he has a point.
If retailers can't get the name of the holiday right, then why shuld we buy from them?
