I absolutely love candles..... My boyfriend hates it, because I have candles everywhere. I guess I sort of collect candles. I love the way that they smell... I love burning them, I love candlelight. My mom and aunt own a gift shop and sell candleberry candles... the sugar cookie ones smell just like a batch of cookies baking in the oven when you burn them. Oh my god they smell good. Right now I am burning lil' bean bean pod candles in pomegranate. How about you all... do you have favorite candle? what is it?

I'm a candle lover also. I have candles in many shapes and sizes and scents! I really do like floating candles in a large pretty clear crystal type of bowl. Scented candles are great but sometimes if the scent is too strong it irritates my allergies and I can't leave them burning for too long.

I like floating candles around the holidays.. on a table as a centerpiece. I use them when I have my own place to add a little something pretty in my living room and dining room. I don't use them here, considering I live with my boyfriend and his parents and we don't have the room to spread out that much.

I kinda collect scented candles too. I often light them coz i just want them be displayed. But whenever i'm in the mood for burning, i lit it for some time and enjoy the relaxing scent of it. I don't have a favorite scent for all of them smells really good. I have here lavender, strawberry, chocolate (yummy!!), apple and orange.

Thanks for the best response thumper11! Really appreciated, like a candle's scent...makes me smile! I actually been planning this, to buy some new candles and bring it to my bf's house. Since you mentioned about eliminating bad odors in a room. He's smoking and i want to smell some sweet good scents after him smoking. I'll put one in the bathroom and one in the living room. I know he'll like it! Thanks again!!

That's pretty much me... I use them for decorations and for scent. I usually light them before company comes over or something like that, just so that if there is any bad smell in my home, that I don't notice, but someone else would, it is covered up pretty well. My mom has an odor eliminator candle that works wonders for things like that! She uses them in the motel rooms when someone has smoked in the room or a pet has been there, and you'd never know the difference after that candle has burned in there for a few hours.

You might want to try candleberry odor eliminator... I don't know what store lines sell them.. I would recommend looking it up online. They are really good at getting all kinds of odors out.

Would you believe me if I told you i have never tried scented candles. They are quite expensive here and with our budget tight, spending on such luxries is not very condusive. So, after reading your discussion, I may just try out one, for my interest is roused. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

I can understand the cost. The last 2 that I have were gifts for my birthday from my mom. You can buy some votives.... They are a smaller version of the larger candles and they are usually quite a bit cheaper. They should still smell the same if you get a quality brand, like candleberry, yankee candles, woodwick, and various others. The smell also should not be overwhelming if you burn them in a more open ares and don't burn them for more than an hour or so at a time. Plus.. you can save the wax and use a tart burned or wax burner and it will get the same effect, but with out a flame. This helps you burn them more slowly, thus making it last longer.

What exactly are votives. I will definitely follow your suggestion and see if I can find a smaller version just to know the fragrance. I burn incense sticks instead for a pleasent odour. They come much much cheaper. Thanks anyway. Ill definitely try them out.

i dont know what kind of waxes mine r. i dont think i know the difference. i usually buy the small tea light white ones and different scented oils for smell. but i have seen all kinds of cool scented and large candles of different colors in stores. i just didnt pay attention what kind of wax they were. maybe next time i go to a store, i should buy one of each just to compare and see if i prefer one or the other.

That's a good idea.... The soy bean oil ones seem to make a bigger mess.... I don't know.. Maybe it just seems that way. Either one makes a mess if they get on your furniture..... I guess the wax is just easier to clean up though.

i just don't like the soy bean oil ones as much.... i don't know why..... i like traditional wax candles the best. Maybe it's just the brands that I've tried.. I guess I need to try a new brand.

I would open a window when you were planning to burn them, so that the smell isn't as strong, or I would burn them in a different room or a more open room. I have this problem sometimes and depending on where I'm at, those are my ways of dealing with it and they seem to work pretty well.

Oh my God, my mom loves candles and I think growing up with her loving candles gave me the love for candles as well. Now I burn candles maybe not every day, but every once and awhile. I will have a candle burning. I do like those candles too that smell like home baked cookies. Those are the best, I also like burning the cinnamon candles. I like the smell of those candles. My mother likes that smell too. My hubby likes candles as well, he loves it when I have a candle burning.

Candles are beautiful and very fun to try different scents and scent combination. The ones that my mom has in her shop are the ones that she burns at home and I think that is why I like them so much. I do buy my own occasionally from a different store, but those are still my favorites.

Yea me too. The ones that I have been burning are soy bean oil candles. I'm not as fond of the oil ones as I am traditional wax candles. I don't know.. I guess I just like the traditional candles.

I don't light candles in my apartment because I'm not home that much so I'm afraid I'll light them up one day and forget about it when I leave and there'll be a fire when I get back! LOL but my mom at home loves candles! They're really great and make your house smell so good. I love vanilla scented ones. Or any food ones they're yummy. Floral scents give me a headache. ugh

I have actually forgot mine a few times, but I always burn ones in glass jars, so they just burnt out. It was lucky actually. Now, if I leave, I check every room of the house....

ya even I like candles..The scent & the light reflected from it attracts me. My favourite scented candle is fresh flower, ocean aroma. The only thing I don't like about candles is that we need to burn them so that they give us light & at the end the candle itself finishes.

I am a candle addict! There's nothing like coming home at the end of a long work day, rushing right into "Mommy Duty" and the "Dinner Dash", then finally getting my Little Man off to bed, lighting my candles, turning out the lights and just escaping into the warm relaxing atmosphere that only candles can put off.

Yes I agree completely. I'm not a mom, but If I have had a busy day and a lot of stress, coming home and lighting candles and just relaxing is always the best thing that I can do to unwind.

I don't usually burn the candles for the light, I burn them for the scent. I do use them to relax me sometimes, but I rely more on the scent of them than the light.

I have a LOT of scented candles and I love burning them or putting them on the warmer. Right now I'm burning one called Berry Patch that smells like blueberries...I think. I don't have any favorites. I get in different moods and seem to pick candles based on that.

I love seeing them. When I was younger, I loved the smell. Now, something changed inside my bosy and I'm allergic to smells. Strong smells. And , unfortunately, even to the candle smell. I can not even go into a store, close to the candle shelves, it makes me feel bad. I wish I could burn candles, as I did when I was small. But, I have fun at least when someone else has.

Some smells aggravate me too, I have to be selective with the scents and how strong certain candles are. If I get a strong one, I'll usually give it to a friend or I'll burn it in a room where I don't usually go, to get the smell circulating..... I can deal with the candleberry ones, even though they don't loose any of their scent over time, it's not an overbearing scent, so it's not too bad.

I LOVE candles! I too love the smell, the light...it's soft, and if you're like most of us, we need a little softness especially at the end of a long day! Candles give warmth, light, ambiance to any room. I love to take a long hot bubble bath by candlelight. It's so relaxing. I love dinner by candlelight and sometimes I just love the look and feel of a room little by many different size candles. My favorite scented candle is "caramel". It's amazing! My second favorite would be pumpkin spice. Happy candle lighting and Merry Christmas!

I can't handle some of them that knock you down they are so strong. The ones that I like have good smells, that are not strong, but stay just as strong as the first time that they are lit.

I love candles! I use to burn them all the time but lately with my 3 year old I just can't. He is the cutest thing ever but he is ALWAYS getting into things. Even things I think there is no way he can get into them! lol Call me boring but I LOVE the way just plain old vanilla candles make my house smell!! They just make me relaxed I guess! Actually....maybe I need to go find a candle right now after the day I've had!

Have you tried candle warmers or burners? They help you enjoy the candle scent with out a flame. If you like candles, but just don't like the risk of fire, try a candle warmer. It's kind of like a hot plate that you sit the candle on and it just gets warm enough to melt the wax and produce the scent, but there is no flame, thus there is less risk of fire.
