Mother tongue or a first language is the language a human being learns from birth. My mother tongue is BANGLA and I am very proud of it. Many of you possible don't know BANGLA is the solitary language on this earth for which establishment as the state language many activists sacrificed their lives in 21st February,1952. Later, UNESCO proclaimed 21 February as the International Mother Language Day. Now, tell me which Language is your Mother Tongue?

Hindi is my mother tongue, though my education was in English medium school, we speak hindi at home. I am happy that Bangla is your mother tongue and you are so proud about it. But somewhere I still feel that since we all are Indians.......we all should have known Hindi........Hindi should have been our mother tongue........our national language.........but unfortunately, we are called Hindustani, but most of the Hindustan does not know Hindi.......and this is one of the drawbacks in our country which is used by selfish politicians as weapon to spread religious and other racial hatred ........ united we stand - divided we fall, this we learn in schools,.......but who really understands this.......it is too late now to make any changes........so let each one be happy with their own mother tongue.........I think there are about 21 mother tongues in India.
Have a nice day.

My mother tongue is Punjabi but as was born in Kanpur, UP, I speak good Hindi. I also speak Bangla as I have stayed in West Bengal for 10 years. So you see I can speak 4 languages but can read and write only 3, as I can't read or write Bangla.

My mother language is American English. I'd love to be able to speak other languages, but I don't have any talent in that area.

But let me tell you guys Bangla is such a sweet language that if you learn it you will fall in love with it..there are so many beautiful poets, songs especially tagor's song in Bangla which made this language so content & popular throughour the world..Though I stay out of bengal But whenever I hear someone speaking in my mothertongue I feel like someone pouring honey in my ears..
