Have you ever went to the mall and came out and tried to get in the wrong car?
Me and a friend went shopping last night at the mall and we came out just yapping and talking an we went to a car that looked just like mine and tried to open the door and all of a sudden the alarm went off! LOL I quickly realized it was the wrong vehicle and we took off! LOL
I found mine and when we left the alarm was still going nuts! You think we should have stuck around and explained or were we right in "leaving the scene?"LOL
I thought about it last night after getting home and I thought maybe we should have stuck around and fessed up but we didn't! LOL
We decided that we wouldn't make very good car thiefs because we make too much noise. I hate those car alarms!
Have you ever done this?
Would you just leave or be the honest citizen and wait for the owner and explain?

Oh, you made me feel much better. I have done it so many times. I was lucky not to run car alarm, but it is very embarrassing when it happens.
Other than this I have a problem finding my car very often so I skip malls when possible...

Oh I've always said they have a person who waits until you go in and moves all of the vehicles around to confuse you! LOL thanks for responding!

Yes, I have done this a couple of times. My minivan is silver and looks like most other minivans. I have actually gone up to the car and wondered why my remote was not opening the doors, and another time I did touch the handle but there was no alarm thank goodness! I would have been so embarrassed if that would have gone off too!
But if I had done what you did last night then I would have ran off too. I think that is just so embarrassing. It is funny now, after the thought, but can you imagine if the owner would have been right in back of you?
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Friday I went to the wrong car at work. I just wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. Luckily it didn't have a car alarm so I didn't get too embarrassed. I think if it had of went off I would have stuck around to explain it but only because I know my co-worker. If it had happened to me at the mall like you then I probably would have took off too.

Yes I would of done the same thing. As you didn't hurt the car or anything and the alarm will stop on its own sooner or later. My Mom had hot pink wipers put on her car as she kept going to the wrong car after that the hot pink wipers no more. Have a great day. Hey how is the Dog doing and the young man?

I think that's nothing compared to what I went through in high school. My dad was picking me up from school and I was in a hurry to get in the car because it was raining and I didn't have my umbrella and it was the loading/unloading zone so the vehicles couldn't really linger long.
So you know what happens? I got into the wrong car that looks EXACTLY like hours. It took me about 30 seconds to realize that everybody was staring at me!
I got out, apologized incoherently and rushed to our car - but first making sure that I read the plate number right!
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I've done it before. I went to walmart one time and came out and went to someone else's car n almost got in it and was like wait this isn't mine. It was the exact same model and color as my car too...I hate when some one has the exact same car as me because sometimes its hard to find you'rs. Espec in a busy parking lot!

Hey fasttalker! I have done that too! My and my girlfriend
did the same thing! We thought we were at her car and we also
weren't paying attention and the alarm went off and we left
the scene too! If you would have hung around you might have
been there for hours! The person was probably shopping and
had no idea that it was their car alarm going off! How would
they know if they were in the store that it was their car
alarm and not one of the thousand other car alarms in the
parking lot! So I think that it was ok that you left! You
just made an honest mistake! It's not like you hit the car
and took off!

I did that once! It wasn't at the mall though, it was at a supermarket. Thank goodness I didn't buy anything and that no one was in the car. It was night time and the car was the same exact make, model, and color as mine!! My actual car was parked on the exact opposite side. I kept putting my key in and it wouldn't turn. I was getting so mad! I tried opening the door and it opened and I looked inside and there was a carseat so I was like "what the heck! I don't have a baby!" I was so embarrassed but no one saw me. LOL

I am so glad that you said this. In my case I had a rental car, so it was REALLY bad. I went up to the car that I perceived to be mine and tried to open it. I kept trying and was really getting mad that it wouldn't open. The owner of the car came up to the vehicle just as I was realizing that it might not be my car. I immediately went into the "Wow, your car looks just like mine and oh! my car is over there!" I kept flinging apologies and made a mad dash for my car. You are better off fleeing the scene. That was mortifying.

Ha! No offense, but this is HILARIOUS! LOL I'm laughing so hard because it sounds exactly like something I would do! LOL If it was me, I would have just left as quickly as possible, too! Guess you'll have to add that one to your list of most embarrasing moments! LOL

I have also done this before, especially when I am looking for my mom's car. She has a very common car in the area, and it seems that everyone had to choose the same color as she did lol. I normally notice that it is someone else's car by what is left inside and then quickly try to find mine hoping that no one saw me make a fool out of myself lol.
I have to say that I have never set off someone else's alarm before. I do not think I would wait around for the person to come out so I could explain. The alarm will turn itself off in a short amount of time.
