Slipknot

i think that slipknot is one of the best bands in the world, and i have had the privilege of seeing them a few times. my favorite memory is being at the download festival, which is a festival that is held every year in england in the summer and it features only metal, rock and punk over the weekend it is a 3 day festival it is awesome, it is my mecca. www.downloadfestival.co.uk/home/ check it out trust me you will want to go there too if you are a metalhead, slipknot played there this weekend past. you can actually stream the set if you like on there too. let me know what you think. anyways i digress, a few years ago i was at the festival, slipknot was one of the headliners. it started to rain just before their set, but that did not deter 80,000 of us black clad fans. they came on stage and totally tore it up. an immortal moment was when corey yelled circle pit, picture this there were 8 huge circle pits all over the place that involved thousands of people it was awesome, the mosh pit was hella crazy but we all looked out for each other, it was cool to be a part of that.

i am a major slipknot fan. i used to live in england and every year in the uk there is a 3 or so day festival called the download festival www.downloadfestival.co.uk anyways, i went there one year and slipknot was playing they were one of the headliners. what a day, let me explain a little about the festival, it is a mecca a worshipping ground for all metalheads in the area, it is about as big as the waken festival in germany also held in the summer, all that is played the whole weekend is either rock, punk or heavy metal, bands from all over the world attend. anyways, it was raining that day when the sliplknot set was coming up, there was mud everywhere and all my brethren clad in black in that raining getting ready to throw down, the mosh pit near the front of the stage was crazy!! then corey taylor (no. 8 and lead singer) uttered the immortal words "CIRCLE PIT" OMG, everyone went nuts, there were like 8 huge circle pits going amongst like 80,000 people. i found religion there, being a part of something like that is pretty amazing. i have all their albums, i love their side bands too, corey and jim root are in stone sour www.stonesour.com and joey jordison the drummer has a sideband too the murderdolls www.myspace.com/thedolls
