What Should I Do With My Dog When I Travel to Egypt?

I want to travel to Egypt next fall. I have a dog and have never travelled much so I do not know what to do with him. I do not have many friends. And I cannot leave him at home alone. But do you think it would be better to leave him in a kennel at a vet place or should I try to fly him with me. The cost of the ticket would be cheaper than the kennel for 10 days. The only thing is do you know if he needs shots? Has anyone travelled with their pets?

For international travel your dog will need a pet passport. I got these for my two dogs but it took much much time and lots of money to get them. I had to get each dog microchiped and then they had vaccination to prevent rabies. Then I had to wait 6 months after which they had blood tests. Then each of them got a pet passport. My mum usually cares for them when I got on holiday. However she broke her arm and then was only willing to feed and see my dogs once a day. So I employed a dog walker to feed my dogs once a day, feed them and spend some time playing with them. I was on holiday for two weeks and the dog walkers bill was about £125. You could try to get a dog walker care for your dog or you could think of visiting a few dog kennels so see if your dog would be happy there. Good luck.

THere are sites you can hire someone to pet sit. I don't know if it would be cheaper but it would be easier. You can set a certain rate for the whole time. You can set a weekly rate. People will do anything just for extra money. You can list it somewhere as well. I can tell you places to list. If your interested in a sitter let me know.

After reading Maximax's post, I would get a house/pet sitter. That way they could make sure everything was taken care of at your house. Your dog would also be comfortable in his familar surroundings. I know a couple people that do pet setting here and they go to the house a few times a day to take care of the dogs.

Modomains You have 3 options. Shop around for the best affordable kennel. If that find a friend that is willing and able to keep him for a moderate fee. Third check out the price of kennel in Egypt. That could be economical also. Good luck and enjoy you future trip

If you go on the site housesitterscom you will find people on there who will house/pet site for free. They are people who want to travel around the world and house and pet sit as a means of making their money go further. There are also people like my husband and I who are retired and like to travel. We house and pet sit in the UK but there are sitters all over the world on the site. Just make sure that they have good references. We have ones from people we have sat for. Getting a sitter will mean that your dog will be happy in its own home and you have given someone a chance to stay in your home and see something of the area you live in.
