OMG - I'm pregnant! I can't believe it!

My husband and I have been trying for over a year, and it's really happened! I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant! I had it confirmed by bloodtest today, and we couldn't be more elated! I used the first at-home pregnancy test on Friday because I realized I was two days late. There was a slight line, but it was definately there! So, I wrapped up the pee stick and some baby socks in Christmas paper, and also wrapped a few other Christmas presents. When my husband got home, I had Christmas music playing, and I told him he could open a present early. He talked a bit about work, made a bowl of cereal, and began eating before he opened the present. At first, he looked at the socks, and ask me if they were some kind of ornament for the tree! I told him to finish opening his present. When he saw the pee stick, he smiled with recognition! The first thing he sais was, "I can't believe you let me make cereal before letting me know!" We're both so excited and have been wanting this for a long time! Now we're trying to figure out logistics and other such things, but there's definately nothing that can hamper my happiness at the moment!

Yes, I've already been to the OB, and they've taken LOTS of blood and given me all the lectures about what to eat, what not to eat, not to scoop the cat litter, etc! I'll also have an ultrasound on New Years Eve! That'll be fun!

Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you What a wonderful Christmas present for both of you!!!! I love the way you made the news a gift to your hubby!!! It must have been hard for you to wait while he made his cereal and talked about his day and everything! Leave it to a man not to not get overly exited or in a hurry to open up a present...Socks for the tree, what was he thinking!?!? I imagine this is your first child and it is very exciting I must say! I was planning on being pregnant with my second child by Christmas but I am not! I have been off the pill since February but was on it for four years and so am hoping early in the New Year or us! Love and Hugs ~Heavens~

Lot of "Love" is definitely the key Harmony! that's how we got pregnant with our first one just a month into our marriage! It's just harder when you have a child to look after and your husband leaves for work in the middle of the night and then we work opposite shifts also! But challenges are the interesting part!! So, where is your husband going and for how long? ~Heavens~

Thanks Heavens! I have to say, we'd been seriously trying for over a year, and I'd been off the pill for over 2 years. This isn't the "best" timing for us since we're planning on living apart for the next few months, but after trying for so long, we just kinda thought it wasn't going to happen without fertility meds (Clomid,) which we were going to start in a few months. I'm happy we didn't need it! It WILL happen for you, just think POSITIVE and have lots of "love"! :D

For starters let me tell you congrats. I love how you wrapped up the stick and socks like that. That is so romantic. I would have never thought of doing it that way to tell your spouse that your pregnant. I gotta say that is a really clever sweet way to do it. I know that after my son Kenneth turned 1 and half that I wanted another one but I was told that it probaly would not happen because of health issues, but I too was a couple days late and decided to take a home-test and it too was very fated line. Although my brother and sister argued with me saying that it was negative. So I took another one a week later when my hubby was at work and I was right the whole time. I was pregnant I was so happy because we were told that it would probaly never happen but it did. So I layed my son down for a nap and he of course slept till after I got to run outside with a joyish face and wand the stick in front of him, boy did he just smile from ear to ear. That was the best day ever even if it was another boy. Just being able to have another child made us happy. Well congrats again and goodluck in all the happiness you two have with the baby. Happy Mylotting

Best wishes for a happy pregnancy and an easy and fast birth. Try to take care of yourself, don't over work and rest a lot. That's YOUR time , take advantage of it and use all of it for you and only you. Leave the logistics and all the work for after 6 months. Now, just enjoy and take care! Congratulations!

Thank you! Yes, I've been to the OB, and I have my first ultrasound on New Years Eve. We're going to tell our families when we see than for Christmas! I haven't come up with any really clever ideas yet for telling them, but I think I'm going to wrap up a baby picture frame with a card that says "Coming the end of August" or something similar.

Heary congrats and take good care of yourself for the next few days. Your doctor would advise you, but still -at this tender initial stage of pregnancy , be careful and do not get into some heavy work like lifting heavy things , running around or climbing hundred , two hundred steps and similar physically strenuous work-just for the next 1 or 1 and a half months. Good luck and God Bless!

Thanks for the reminder! We're currently in the process of moving, so I'm always having to tell myself not to lift any of the boxes - just to leave them there until my husband can move them!

Good for you. dont be disappointed when you can't get pregnant on your first year. some even waited for 5 to 10 years before they get an angel. well, just to share, if you watch house md. constantly. theres a new episode where house told this lady that she had a human parthenogenesis. meaning she had a baby without a daddy. see the bf and gf swore they will not have s*x until they get married since their both virgins. hehehe, if you know house, of course he lied coz the test result showed the girl cheated with another guy.

Ohhhh! that is great! and Congartulations! That is the two words that I would love to hear from my two friends mouth. One of my friend was keep on trying since three years now or almost four years I think. And my others friends is more than two years. I would love to see them carrying their babies on their tommy. My heart goes out to them when I learn that every time they try the pregnancy test and the result were negative. I hope and pray too that before I will my own baby they too would have their own. I feel awkward of having one if they dont have any yet because I know it would bring sadness to them instead of excitement and joy even though they told me it okay. But I already saw them cried when they found out that our others friends are getting pregnant. I have cried with them that is why the thought of having my own scares me. God bless you and may God protect the baby in your womb. Take care of your baby.

Yes, I know the feeling you're talking about. My sister-in-law has been trying for 3 years now, and they were recently told that they would never conceive. They're no considering a donor or adoption. I'm very sensitive to her feelings, so I'm only going to make a very simply announcement at Christmas and not make too much of a deal about it. It's going to be hard on her either way.
