I'm so sad to say that I never learned! My dad knows how because he's in the navy, but my mom doesn't know how to either. I tried to learn, but it's harder now that I'm older because of knowing about drowning and things like that. When you're younger you have so many memories that you don't really remember how it's like when you hurt yourself or something, you know what I mean? So how did you learn? and how old were you? or maybe you don't know how and have a story! Please tell me :)

i don't know how to swim until now... even though my parents pay a teacher to teach me when i am still a child, but i still don't know how to swim until now... probably it is because i am just too afraid to get drowned... i am so afraid of water because i am almost drowned for couple of times in the past... take care and have a nice day...

Nope, i don't know swimming and never thought of learning though in some water parks, I've tried to swim (in water of less height) with my friends but failed.

I grew up around water so I've always been in it. As far as actually learning how to swim, I think I was about 8 or so??? My grandfather taught me at this place we used to go every summer. I remember when I moved to Colorado and it was a requirement to take and pass swim in order to graduate from high school. I was amazed that kids who were 16 and 17 years old could not swim. My first husband could not swim and was afraid of the water. I made sure both my boys could swim at a young age.

I only swim in the shallow part of the pool. I actually just learned by myself when i was in my early teens. I am terrified of the thought that I would drown if my feet don't get to touch the pool's bottom. My 2 daughters had swimming lessons when they were about 6 and 9. I sometimes join them in the pool during summertime but I'm really not into it. I don't like beaches also.

dont be so sad girl!you are younger than me,i learn that you are 18 right?i am 22 now,and i learn to swim this summer with the help of my boyfriend,it is not difficult for me.some persons say that it is too difficult for a big girl to learn to swim, and i tell you it is not true.if you really want to learn, nothing is difficult.but do remember that when you start to learn to swim, you must defeat the fear yourself and if you do this, the left is easy to learn.

I may not be able to swim that well, but I do know how to swim enough to keep myself afloat. Just don't ask me to do any races.

Ys I leant to swim around the age of seven. I was terrified at first but after getting swimming lessons (they are complusary at School here in the UK) I calmed down and really enjoyed it. My four daughters all learnt to swim at School and I am glad that they can. When we go on Holiday it is good to know that they are ok in the swimming pools.

How I learned to swim isn't that exciting of a story, but oh well. My parents took me to get swimming lessons at the local community pool every summer from the time I was about 5 until 8. Ever since then I have gotten better and better, and now have a pool in my backyard.

I learned since when I was a kid. my father set me to swim on the sea when I was 2 years old. At that time, I really don't know how to swim. Until I get 11 years. I went under the bridge and swam out there and boala! I learned how to swim. It is just determination and belief in yourself.:)

Hi vanonas, I learned how to swim when I was 8 years old, my Dad used to throw me in the sea and will let me learn by my own but he is there watching, and if I can't do it, he will rescue us..LOL! I learned that way and when I was in College, we have also one semester for swimming! I know you have the chance to learn once you are very willing and very determined...Just try and try!

I learned when I was 5. My mom took me to swimming lessons. All my brothers and sisters learned except the youngest one. He fell in when he was 4 and my dad had to rescue him and he was too scared to learn. He did finally learn when he was grownup though.

I don't know how to swim, but I have had people who have tried to teach me. It might be that it is harder to learn how to swim when you are older and alot easier to when you are younger. I think my mom wishes that she taught me how to swim at a younger age, but she doesn't know how to swim. But I am very picky also with water and were it goes. I am the type of person who doesn't like it when water will go in my ears and my eyes. Otherwise it would be probably be easier for me to swim and I would have learned how to swim already. My brother on the other han already knows how to swim. He went to this school and they had a swimming class and he learned how to swim there and he learned how to swim even better when he joined the military.

My parents had me in swimming lessons each summer at the YMCA starting in kindergarten. I can still remember the terror of getting my dunked in the water that first year. By the next summer, I was use to it and I couldn't get enough of swimming around underwater. Once you get over your fears, you'll be fine. After that, it's just all good cardio exercise and fun.
