For Nothing!!!! I was clearly on the schedule but so was one of my co-workers...for the exact same shift...It turns out she was on the floor plan and I wasn't and so after taking a bus there and being in the building for all of about half an hour, I was gone again and with no pay for today! I had so much I could have done today had I knew I was off as I would have planned my day much differently and not took a bus ride either wasting money! I walked home and it took forty minutes but I could not justify wasting another three dollars!!! What a waste of day! So, how was your day today? ~Heavens~

hello heavens! wow, that sure is frustrating! but just think of how lucky you are that you have a job to go to. i have been looking for a job for 3 months now and still have nothing :( I used to be a full time freelance artist but due to the recession I have decided to go back to the workforce. I still have a few online clients but the projects have decreased due to the economic crunch :( my day yesterday was spent making worksheets for school (for a client), making a customized greeting card and surfing the net. anyway, hope you feel better and merry christmas to you! :)

So sorry that you are out of work and have been for so long! I wish you all the best in finding work in the New Year! I know I should be thankful for my Job and I try to be because I know many are off work now due to the horrid economy! It sounds like you had a productive day...Wish I could have...I know I am off tomorrow so I'll be making good use of that day for sure because then I work all the rest of the week! Customized Greeting cards are so nice, a gift in themselves! Merry Christmas to you as well! ~Heavens~

I've had something similar to this, happen with my part time job too. There are two Rachel's at the Dept store and our last names are very similar. I got a call from the scheduling manager to come and work and when I arrived, the other Rachel was there. She was told by her Supervisor to come in to cover that shift also. What happened was her supervisor just read the first name and never bothered to check the last name on the roster. I was rostered but she wasn't. She got really upset when she was told by another manager that she wasn't suppose to work - I wasn't really bothered by it, so I told her she could stay and I clocked out. I had a birthday to go to anyway that afernoon so I didn't mind not working. It did mean no pay for that day but that was ok as I made up for that weekend.

That's one thing but this instance, we both have very different names and were both actually on the original schedule for the exact same shift!!! So glad though that is worked out for both of you! ~Heavens~

Yes, I agree! The bus fare is $3 and a half hours pay would be $4.80 but I know there will be no pay out of this! Not to mention I walked to my son's school from work and it took forty minutes to do so...all so that I could meet up with my Hubby as he was doing a photo shoot and so I went with him to help out with our boy while he worked!! Such a frustrating day! Love and Hugs to you also! ~Heavens~

Hi Again, heavens, I'm so sorry to hear about your work fiasco. It's a good thing this doesn't happen very often. I guess they didn't realize their mistake until you got there? My day yesterday (now) was okay. I was feeling quite tired, because of my busy (for me) schedule of late. I hadn't heard from 'my employer,' and I use that term loosely, so I assumed I was babysitting after school. I'd just 'struggled' into my boots, and was about to go out the door, when the phone rang. It's a good thing I didn't go anyway to pick her up, because it was her mom calling. By the time I got back into the living room to the phone, she'd left a message. Once again, she'd forgotten to call to let me know that K's dad was picking her up. She thought I was already out waiting for her, so was quite apologetic. I just wish she'd remember to phone me, as this happens far too often. Other than that, I did some more decorating, and straightened some things up. I have my gifts for tonight to wrap today, and then have to get ready for the evening. This is one day I shouldn't be babysitting late, if at all, so will see what happens.

Hi Mom! They were actually shocked to see me as they were not expecting me! I showed them the posted schedule and they saw their mistake it was right there in black and white and so they checked the floor plan and Betty's name was down and so I left...punched out after about ten minutes and went back up to my locker where I took off my clean uniform top and threw it in my locker (I'll wear it tomorrow) Absolutely ridiculous really! Glad you got some more cleaning and decorating done yesterday! I do hope that you were successful in getting your gifts wrapped today and were able to enjoy your dinner tonight and the time with your brother and sister! I am sure you are at your brother's house by now and truly do hope you are having a wonderful time there! My day today (off work) was much better than yesterday...I made sure I made the most of it! I had two outings...Tea at Tim's on my own and a look around Zellers and then an outing with my Hubby all in all a much better day and managed to do some tidying and a sink full of dishes as well! Oh and I did the two display boards I had left to do for Christmas...My Mom's and My Husband's Moms...got all the photos printed out and everything arranged and stuck down...I am actually glad to have these done so early! Still have my sugar cookies to get to if I get the chance and wrapping to do as well as laundry that I think I will be doing on Friday morning...I have to get something put together before Friday for my son's Teacher and EA and then I have until next Tuesday to get something put together for my son's therapist...Still quite a bit to do this week with the next four days of work as well...Hope I can accomplish it all! Love and Hugs ~Heavens~

I can't remember where you work, don't they have advance scheduling so you know ahead of time when you work? I know when my son use to work for KFC, he couldn't plan ahead more than a week at a time because they would get their schedules once a week..This is why when I get a job, I will say that I will only work so many hours on so many days, then I know when I am free.. As for my day, starting out slow, but hoping to get much done in the next hour or so so I can defragment my computer. Then this evening I hope to go shopping, but I won't know until around 5 tonight..

I work at a grocery store and it is week by week....nothing ahead of time! As soon as the schedule is up, I write it down and I was clearly wrote down to work on Monday from 2:15 to 9:15 but so was Betty and she was on the floor plan, they were actually shocked to see me as they did not think I was working that day and apparently I wasn't!!! Very frustrating!!!! Today (My Day Off) was much better :) I made sure that I made the most of today! ~Heavens~

Well, I don't like to waste my time at work, though it's on normal working days. I don't like to waste my time doing some nonsense work, especially it's because of poor management or planning. Well, I was sick yesterday so I didn't really work.
