Cruelty Abounds

Did anyone see the interview on this morning Today Show with the VERY brave 75 year old lady who was beaten, tortured , may have suffered a mild heart attack during the attack, and then kidnapped in her own car? Her face was a mass of bruises that she survived being locked in the truck of her car for 26 hours was a miracle. Everyday it seems that more people are losing their sense of humanity. I hope that these 3 teens are punished to the full extent of the law!! One Suspect Cried, Another Rolled His Eyes http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28200470/

Teen criminals are an amazing bunch of low socially skilled, inept, out of touch with reality, confused, and stupid people. Guys like these seem to have watched too much TV, seen too many movies, and don't know the bad boys they see in the picture shows are not to be emulated. What to do with such people? I've long said that one of the things Iran does right is how they treat their criminals. Over there, these thugs would be stretching a rope with their necks in a public place hung from construction cranes. After a fair trial, I'd support that for these thugs.

I agree with you. IMO most of the young thugs just get a slap on the wrist. Stronger punishments would perhaps make them stop and think (if they know how to think) before they commit such crimes. What also pisses me off is that so often the parents get blamed for every rotten thing their kids do.

What has what these punks did have anything about war? Have you not heard of just wars? Would the world have been better if the Japanese empire had been allowed to conquer all the Pacific and the Nazis taken over all of Europe? I mean peace is not that good if that peace means under the rule of one man.

Thank heavens for the good people. I think they are the one who give God hope that He did not make a mistake by giving mankind free will.

I cant believe that he would sit there and roll his eyes. That is not showing any remorse. Where has respect for elders and the sense of right and wrong gone too? You would think out of all of them at least one would have tried to help her or called the police. A truly sad story!

They were probably enjoying themselves too much using her credit cards to think of helping her or feeling any remorse.

This just confirms what I've thought a long time now. The world is just going crazy. Unfortunately alot of these teens are not raised - they just grow up. If you don't raise a child with morals and values they won't know how to act in today's world. These guys need to be tossed in prison for a long long time. Sigh, is it any wonder I don't like to watch the news anymore? I think I could be a hermit quite easily at times.

Me too. That is why I like living alone with just my three pets to keep me company. After 2 husbands and a rotten child I am happy with solitude.

I am with you on this one. There is no excuse for this and it seemed as though they had planned on her dieing. They had a shovel in their car so I suppose they were going to burry her somewhere. I hope they throw the book at all of them. What is wrong with people that they think of this kind of thing? The lady I am staying with won't listen to the news much so I was wondering if these kids said why they did this? Is Human nature that demented? I wonder what their parents are like? I think I have alot of questions. I saw her on TV today and she is healing pretty well and fast. She is alert and seems like a pretty strong person. Bless her for sure!!!!

I was surprised at how she appeared in the interview. I thought her face looked terribly bad and she said there were also many bruises on her body.

The first time I saw her in the hospital she looked terrible. I was amazed that she was alive to tell the truth. The next time a few days later she looked so much better. She was able to talk more and I was incouraged that she was going to make a full recovery. What a terrable thing for a 75 year old lady, or anyone to have to go through. Especially someone of her age. I do not understand what goes through someones mind that they could do something like that.

In most instances it is caused by a lack of parenting. Show me a teen that does such a thing and I will show you a pair of parents that have not stood up and done their job. It is OUR job as parents to teach these children and mold them into respectable human beings. Apparently someone forgot to tell these kids' parents. I can ensure you they haven't been brought up appropriately because if they had been they would have been terrified of what their own parents would do to them for disrespecting their elders. I can't even imagine what would drive someone to do such a thing. God was definitely with this poor lady and she is a very brave soul to go on television and speak out. God Bless Her!!!!

Sorry I have to disagree with you on that it is lack of parenting. That is a cop out because the perpetrators do not accept responsibility for their actions. Most 19 and 20 year old do not have the least fear of what their parents will do to them. They are already considered adults. I personally know young people who have been given the best of parenting and still turned out bad.

I hope the teens get a real good punishment. I am glad the lady survived. I hope that she does not have too many injuries that will not heal. The worst thing is she will be very hesitant to trust anyone. People are losing their minds.

guess they should be beat and put in trunk for that long or longer for they are alot younger. together as would be really no room to move about or if tehy did maybe they would beat one another for who ever thought of doing this to and old women in the first place!

They should be punished to the full extent of the law and that one crying and the other rolling his eyes, just sorry that they were caught. Maybe they should have been locked in the trunk of a car for 48 hours because they would have survived the 26 hours. It is a miracle that elderly lady is still alive.

Wow... it is a miracle she survived that! I am sure the law will take these three kids into hand and punish them accordingly. I sure hope they will not attribute this violent behavior to computer games again and then pass a light sentence like counselling and then brush off the case! Like you said, more and more people seems to be losing their sense of humanity. Behaving more like animals, meting out cruelty, one act after another on another human being! Sad, isn't it?

This type of thing makes me feel physically sick. I wonder what kind of society we have become when this kind of thing goes on and the suspects don't understand that what they have done is beyond wrong. Personally I'd fly them all the way to NYC. Take them to the top. Tie their wrists together with duct tape attached to a broom handle and push them out whilst the old lady sits on the other end. I hope she's heavy enough to stop the broom from going over the edge! Now don't remonstrate with me. I know that I am soft!

This is really terrible. She is a really strong woman to have survived that long. I'm glad she did. Those who committed this crime definitely should be punished. I think that it's what they deserve.

When I saw her today on the show I could see how hurt she was not only physically but she seemed surprised that these young people could have done that to her.

It is really a shame to hear of stories such as this one. It is terrible when anyone is accosted or violated in any way especially if it is a person such as the elderly where younger people know that the older generation can't possibly defend themselves if they are in a weak condition. I also believe that it is a cowardly act to inflict pain to someone that isn't able to fight back. It doesn't make any one a man just because they were able to briefly have control over a weaker human being such as this old woman. I am glad to hear that this lady survived and it is still bad that she could have suffered worse being that it looks like she might have suffered a heart attack. I think that anyone would probably have some kind of physical and emotional trauma after an incident such as this one. Appalling I tell ya, simply horrible. These violators will probably be punished to the extent of the law and hope they never try something like this again. Sometimes I wonder if perpetrators against the elderly ever think about their own families and how they would feel if someone was to hurt someone that was close to them. I guess the point is that these criminals really don't think or care about those they are hurting when performing these terrible acts of violence.
