I have!! UGH!! And let me tell you that it was NOT clear water! EWWW!!!
Anyway, my friend just did that, too and I wish I had seen this to give to her BEFORE she wound up getting a new phone to replace it. Of course, if it had NOT been clean water, I would have said to toss it anyway (double EWWW for anyone who keeps that one!).
So, now, see this so you know HOW to save your soaked cell phone.

Thankfully dropping my mobile phone into water is one thing that I haven't accomplished yet! (Touch wood). At least I now have some tips on how to handle it if I do though. I rememer reading an article a long time ago that stated how many times a year people dropped their phones into a toilet, but I can't find it. From memory, the number of people that have done this is quite high!

I learned NOT to keep it in my pocket, ever!! I only carry it in my purse. That is how it happened. I had to lower my pants to sit on the seat and it fell out. Lesson learned!!

dropping your cell phone on the bucket of water once.... on the toilet thrice....on a puddle of mud once and lastly on big bowl of boiling soup!! im mr careless.. in all incidents except in the bowl of soup my phone survived.. god i love that phone..it was a sony ericsson k600...miss that phone sigh. rule number one dont turn on your phone once its soaked on water. turning it on would just short circuit the phone and its gone forever. remove the cover and battery and do your very best to dry it up.. a clean dry cloth would do and a a trusty hair dryer. dont turn it on not unless its dry.. if your in doubt pray and then visit your nearest service center and hope everything would be ok...
rule number two dont use your phone in awkward situations...(as if iam the authority to say that... hahahaha)

Well I haven't had my cell phone ever dropped into the toilet (lucky me!) but once when I was taking a bath and my friend called me, normally I don't answer phones in the toilet but this one had some urgent matter to attend to. my body was still full of soap with shampoo on my hair when I answered the phone, after a few seconds it slipped out of my grip and fell into the bucket of water, for a moment i was stunned but immediately I just took out my cell phone, removed the casing, batteries everything I could and shook it quite vigorously until all the water had come out, then I let it dry for an hour or so thinking good bye cell phone but it worked fine and didn't cause me any trouble later on as well.

Well, thank goodness that you got it out fast. I think that is the key and to not use it. I have gotten other electronics wet and know that as long as you keep it turned off and let it dry out, it will work. Many people think it is ruined once wet, but that is not true.

that's eeeeeew....and also aweful,,,,better buy a new phone if that happens. if i were you, i wouldn't use the phone anymore. give it to others or sell it so that it will be more useful....they wouldn't know that it fell to your toilet, hehe, aside from that, people would think that you're oh so generous!!!! haha

Very interesting information! I had no clue that you could actually dry out a cell phone.
One time, my son left his cell phone in his jeans and washed the cell phone. He figured it out when he took his clothes out to put them in the dryer. The phone wouldn't work, of course, and he had to buy a new one. I wonder if this would have helped.
Happy MyLotting!

You can dry out anything electronic and it will work as long as you did not short it out. You short it out if you try to use it or turn it on while wet. When I dropped mine in the bowl, it was off and it did take a week to dry out.

Yes, I have dropped my cellphone too, It happens when i was inside the bathroom to take my bath and it happens that my phone is inside my pant's pocket and i hung it. And there's this drum inside the bathroom and simply fells right on the drum and sank.
After two days i was not able to use my phone but it dries... I removed the battery and
leave it to dry itself. And too good when i tried to turn on my phone it works still!!!!

This is a pretty good discussion and cell phones seem to be very important in peoples lives nowadays and it seems like no matter where you go people are always carrying cell phones whether it be kids who carry cell phones to school,or teenagers who carry cell phones where ever they go such as to school or hanging out with friends,to adults who carry cell phones to work or anywhere else they have to go to elderly people who carry cell phones where ever they go,and there are always people talking on their cell phones no matter where they are just like there are people who rudely talk loudly on their cell phones at restaurants which interrupts other people, and the polite thing is to go outside if you want to use your phone and that way no one else is listening to your business so it is also the smart thing to do,and there are always people who are driving down the road, while talking on their cell phone and I know it is hard to concentrate on the cell phone and on the road at the same time because I have tried it before myself,so it makes it dangerous, and it puts other motorists at risk, because if you are not paying complete attention to the road you are more likely to cause and accident, and there are already to many accidents happening on the roads today since so many people seem more reckless and in a hurry, and do not abide by the laws and rules of the road, and the only time you should need to talk while driving is if it is an emergency because that is understandable but other than that it should be against the law to talk on the phone while driving, and I can honestly say that I have once dropped a cell phone in the toilet it was back when my parents had Sprint, and I had a little Nokia phone, and I was interning at a computer shop for school, and I went to the bathroom and my phone fell off my belt and right into the toilet,it did not work after that, but we had insurance on it,so we took it back to the Sprint store, and they gave me another phone exactly like it.

It is good that they have a solution for this because there are persons who this happen to and cannot afford to purchase a new one. A radio announcer was talking about it this morning. Thanks for the link.

I've never dropped my phone in water, but I have a friend who dropped her phone in the toilet, it was clean water though. I've dropped my phone all over the floors though so there's plenty of scratches on it :( I'll keep this handy in case my phone falls into water!

Well personally this has never happened to me before but it has happened to one of my friends. She was at a public bathroom n she simply dropped her cell fon in a toilet (luckily the water wasnt dirty) so she took it out and threw it away bc it seemed it didnt work properly if i'd known there was something she could have done then i'd have highly recommend it.

I have read that in other places & it makes sense that it would work. Fortunately, I have NOT had to test it to see if it works. The next time mine hits the water, this will be the first thing I'll do!!!
I've also been told to find out if the phone is truly water damaged, you should remove the battery. In the corner near where the battery is, there should be a white square or circle, with or without red lines. If this square/circle is pink or red, your phone does in fact have water damage. The person who told me this is quite knowledgeable about electronics.

i have never done it. I am always afraid that it will happen when i go to the bathroom. I know some people dry it with a hair dryer and it works again. My friend dropped hers in a coke drink. She left it in her car for a week. Then it started working again. I guess the heat in the car made it dry up.

My daughter just had this happen. She dropped it into a pool of water. I wish she had known about that link. It might have helped her salvage the phone. It wasn't working well but she lost her contacts. I think that upset her more than anything. Thanks for the information. Now we'll have it for next time - if there is a next time anyway. :)
