Anyone else find the shoe incident with Bush disturbing?

I find it disturbing that people think it's okay to throw things at a countries leader. I don't care if you don't like the man, you don't be disrespectful. Also, I found it disturbing just how slow the secret service men were. Hello? What if that was some weapon? They could have easily killed him. I have a feeling a lot of these people laughing about the shoe incident wouldn't be laughing if it was Obama that someone threw a shoe at.

It was very bad and you are right , it could have been a weapon. I am surprised that security was not better and has anyone found out who he was or why he did it? I would be curious about all the reasons he threw it and what motivated it, was it planned or in response to something President Bush said at the moment?

I am sorry to say this, but I really found the incident hilarious.
Still, the symbolism of the act should not be lost. I consider the shoe-throwing incident less a physical attack on President Bush than a political statement about the outgoing President's policy on Iraq. Rather strong in symbolism and impact, and very hilarious too, but it was a goodbye act, a sort of giving the boot to the backside.
It is a wake-up call on America and President-elect Obama.

I also found the incident very funny. If he had actually been hurt, or if it had been a weapon, THEN it would be bad, but come on, it was shoes! Though, actually, I've heard that in Muslim countries that is a major insult- like when Saddam Hussien's statue came down, people threw shoes at it, or so I heard- becaue the feet are considered the lowest part of a human's body, and its a big insult.
I actually think Bush's dodging the shoe was one of the only smooth moves he has ever made....but he's good at dodging things, imho

What I find even more disturbing is that someone from another country would feel such anger towards out country's leader that he'd even think of doing such a thing and even worse that Americans like me who, while we may agree it was disrespectful and indefensible, can really understand why he felt that way.
