I recently went out shopping at my local store, and after I left the store I looked at my receipt and I found out that the cashier over charged me 40.00 dollars because the cashier rung up the same item 5 times, who do I go too for a matter like this, and has this ever happened to you, and if so what did you do, did the store refund your money?

Call the store or go in and talk to the service desk or a manager. They have to refund your money by law.

You need to take the matter to customer service as soon as possible and get help. They will resurely refund you the over charged amount. It has never happened to me. I check the bills before I leave the store. It helps as any errors are easy to be corrected at that moment.

Whenever this sort of thing happens to me I take the receipt back to the store and either go to the cashier who rung me up or any available cashier or to customer service and get it taken care of..

Yes this has happened to me before. I try to watch cashiers all the time but it is hard to keep watch and make sure they dont goof up. I am glad to hear that you got it all taken care of.

Hi there apples99
Wow that seems a lot, I think I would have noticed straight away and said something there and then! I would still go back to the store and explain to them what had happened and I am sure they would refund you your money. In the UK we have a costumer service desk that deals with this sort of thing which I am sure you have in the US too if my poor memory serves me correct. Go and talk to them because $40 is a fair amount of money!

Hey there humbug25, usually I would have noticed it too, but I bought a lot of items that day, and I had a really long receipt, and I was in a hurry and there was a long line of people in the store so I didnt have a lot of time to look at my receipt that closely, but from now on I will look at it no matter what.
Anyway theres good news I went back to the store shortly after making this topic and spoke to the store mangier and I showed him my receipt and thankfully he gave me a refund WOO HOO.
That was close. thanks for responding happy posting and enjoy your holiday.

I always check the bill before leaving the store.
if there is a mistake(and lots of times I find one), I go back to the cashier .
if the cashier can not refund me, I go to the "cistomer service" representative and after having to wait for 10-20 minutes, they reimburse me the money.
Some stores, have such a policy that if the price on the shelf is smaller than what you paid, you can get that product for free.
So, it's worth waisting few swconds to check your bill.

I usually check my receipt too, but that day there was a long line and a crowed of people in the store and I was anxious to get out of the store that day, but next time no matter what I will make sure and check my receipt before leaving the store
Anyway after I made this topic I decided to go back to the store and I talk to the manager and show him my receipt and he gave me a refund so everything worked out ok, thanks for responding.

well the only thing that you can do in this situation is go back to the store and speak with the cashier itself..... but you should have checked the bill right there and turned around and gone back and showed him that you had only purchased the item once and not five times...... cos once you reach home and then go back no one is going to believe you that the cashier did the mistake and you dint ...
they will think that you left the rest of the four items at home and returned with only one item ......
thats why it is always advisable to check your bills before you leave the place incase you get over charged......
it rarely happens to me.... but i still like to check !!
