How do you market your writing online?

In thinking about goals for 2009, I realize that it is not only important to improve my writing skills, but also how I market my writing. If I could figure out how to get more people to read my work, I think that would give me some encouragement to continue to work hard at improving. How do you publicize your work? How do you get more people to read your articles online?

There are many websites where you can start submitting your articles. They have certain guide lines like the writing should be original and content should not be less than 400words and similar others. Copying not allowed. Helium is one such established site, they will publish articles right way and start earning on page view. Earning could be more if you have at least on rating and one writing star, they called it revenue sharing. Associated content is also an established site for creative writers. They even paid out a bonus amount of $10 to each new writers. Republished contents are republished straightway after 3 such publication. For new creative writing their editorial teams check and ig approved, then only published. They pay for republished articles on page per view method and for new articles upfront. But again upfront payment is to USA resident only, other gets based on ppv. There are numerous such websites and new sites are being added everyday.

I write for both Helium and Associated Content, but maybe I should take your suggestion about publishing more articles (that is, republishing for page views) on AC. When you write for Helium and AC, how do you get readers for your articles?

There few ways. Try to use good and effective keywords so that search engines find your article in its top level. Link your articles to your blog or websites. Helium itself has some guideline for increase page view.

I have some of my articles linked to my profile page here. I also post about topic on my blogs and then add links to my articles on the same subject. I have just started adding my articles to Twitter, and I have made my article list the weblink on my Twitter profile. I have also joined some writing forums, where I can have a signature link to my articles list. My articles also get found from search engine results. The best way to do this is to include some top keywords and phrases in the title, in the body of the article and in the tags.

I'm new to Twitter so I'm still finding my way round the system. I have added my Twitter link to my profile here at myLot. If you want to follow me I will follow you at Twitter.

Well, a lot of times I have passed on along some of my links to some of the articles and such I have wrote to some of my friends, or I have also joined various Yahoo groups and any article I have wrote there I feel could benefit someone in that group I have posted the link there as well. You can also join Safelists, and such to promote your Writing as well. Just my thoughts.

This is an area that I am not very good at. I hate working toward getting people to read my work (I would so much rather write). However, it is important and can make a huge difference in traffic. Here are a few things I keep in mind and try to do with my articles. Promoting your writing can be something you do online as well as in your everyday circles. Most of us have friends and family that would love to read our work if they know about it. You can also add links to any of your personal pages (including blogs, websites, and even e-mails). While you should always be careful when and how you leave links they can help you promote your work. If you are interested in reading my article about promoting your online writing then let me know by sending me a message!

There are a lot of writing sites. You might try Helium, Associated Content, Triond, Epinions, Gather, and others. Most want original content. The difficulty seems to come when you are trying to get people to read what you write (in my opinion).

If you can write good quality material then the rest will become much easier. You should join good forums and website like Helium(.com). What sort of writing do you make?

For the past couple of months, I have been writing at Helium every day. I also write a lot for Gather. I write book reviews for a couple of different sites as well. I guess what I am looking for is readers. Where do you write?

Well for me, the easist way I have found to market my Writing online, is to make lots of friends who I can then Trust and in turn make sure and read and respond back to their discussions in here as well. Even if it is here or AC I find this usually will work the best. Then I also try and take time to pass on links via Email to Friends or people in my Yahoo groups if I feel my work is something someone in there might actually enjoy reading and responding back too. Just something that might work for you as well.

I normally use social bookmarking sites such as Technorati, Digg, Yahoo Buzz, StumbleUpon, Facebook, Twitter and a few others. It does take time to send your work to these places, but it does help to get your articles out there faster. You need to sign up for each one of the sites and then start submitting them. At Facebook, I put it up on my profile so that my friends can read them. I linked Twitter to Facebook, so I can do two things at the same time. Promoting is very important. Times when I'm not promoting, I do see a dip in my pageviews and earnings. So go and promote them as much as you can.
