Your last working day of this year?

Hi! I teach here in the U.S. and my last teaching day before the holidays is the 23rd of this month. We get back to school on the 2nd of January, so that's not a really long vacation. I am looking forward to this break because I had been beating deadlines these past few weeks and I need a rest. I shall be going to New York City to be with my aunt and my cousin until the New Year. I miss my family (parents and siblings back home in the Philippines). Christmas and New Year's are really festive there, plus the fact that I will miss the feeling of being with the family. I am not that fortunate to be taking a vacation. Not anymore from the company I was working for. My last day was 12/12. I will be out of work from now on until I find another job. The company closed its door forever.

where i work, we close at around noon on christmas eve and then we are shut down for the week between christmas and new years, so i dont have to go back to work til january 2nd. which is nice because i can spend some time with my kids who are off school.

I can't believe that a year has passed so quickly!! Wow!! And I wish I was as lucky as you!! You can take such a long holiday. Unfortunately, I'm unable to take such a long stretch of holidays as my manager does not allow it. Apparently I'm too needed in my department for him to do so.. *shrugs* And I cannot even take christmas eve off!! urgh.. So I took the 26th December 2008, then 30th -31st December 2008 then 2nd January.. And the thing is, I'm supposed to finish off my ptos but I still have a day left over, and my manager allows it to be carried over eventhough it is not company policy to do so!! argh!! So here I am, stuck with work because my manager doesn't allow me to take off.. but you are so lucky!! I wish I was able to take such a long holiday.. Maybe I'll just apply for it this year in hope that I'll get it the next year and in hope that there are more capable people working in the department by next year.. lol.. I really wish I could be like you taking such a long holiday.. :) Have a great one!! Take Care!

I am retired and can work online anywhere. I try not to go more than a day without working. If I was really involved with something I guess i could. Alot of my extra money is made on here thought so I really like to keep it adding up. Congrats on your nice long vacation. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi dieorfly, I don't go to waork but my work at home is never done, I wish I can have a few days off but I don't know what that is and my husband is off for three weeks from work and he is always getting under my feet, I will have to evertyhing for Christmas so there is no rest for me. Tamara

My break has started from the 20th of December...and it goes on till the 5th of Jan. But I'll be on leave for another two days. That's quite a long break and I hope to enjoy it.

We are lucky as we have the office closed from 12/24 through 1/1, so we all get a break! Many people have taken today and tomorrow off in addition, but I didn't because I'd rather use up my holiday days off during a month where there are no holiday breaks :) It's awfully quiet here today and will probably be even more quiet tomorrow! We don't even have the option to work on the actual holiday of Christmas or NY Eve, but I have a friend who is working it, mostly for the money as you usually get paid more on those days.

In my case I'd like to keep working on my side jobs and selling on ebay I could really use the money since hubby is laid off for a month and can only go back to work in january

Oh boy, I wish I can be like you, I am not working on Xmas and Boxing day, but going to be at work for the rest of the year. I wish you a blessed vacation

I run a daycare and watch all teachers kids. This means when there is no school, I dont' work. Tomorrow will be my last day of working this year, unless we have a snowday. We had a snow day today and it is snowing like crazy out there! Maybe I am done working for this year:)

today is my last working day until 5 january 2009... hmmmm the long holiday... i will use my holiday to do my hobbies like gaming, watching television, feed my fish...

It's the 24th for the place where I work at. In most companies though the last day is on the 23rd. I don't think I'll be going to work on the 24th anymore. I'll just go on an early vacation hehe. My vacation time won't be that long but it'll be relaxing for sure. I'm excited to spend time with my girl friends and cousins from abroad.

Good for you! I also have a small vacation. I will work until the 24th (24th included) and come back to the office on the 3rd. Happy holidays!

Yeah dieorfly, it’s still four days to go before Christmas. We could feel the joy and the festive atmosphere from the Christmas music on air as well as the attractive festive decoration of Christmas tree, Santa clause, dingdong bells, on the buildings and in the entrance of the grand shopping malls, outlets, restaurants and atc everywhere. My have finished the contract of my part time jobs by the first week of Nov and I had come back from my 10 days foreign vacation. Now my husband and I are having holidays in the house of my son who stays in outstation. We really enjoy the delicious local food as well as the beautiful beaches here. I would spend the rest of my holidays staying at home watching tv, surfing net and also having local short traveling to either beach resort or mountain resort to get myself refreshed and energetic before back to work again the coming year. I’m glad to know that you will have your longest vacation two days more and I hope you would enjoy the couple weeks of vacation happily. Have a nice day and enjoy your vacation.

I'll have to work all the way through the end of the year. I will probably have to work even the first day of the year. It just depends on what I'm scheduled.
