What if you woke up one morning & found that you had set alarm an hour late?

I can imagine the scramble that will take place. Imagine one hour less in the morning when you are always rushed for time would put you in a very tight spot. I sometimes have to skip a lot of things if I am late. No breakfast. I can have some extra biscuits in the office. No yoga. That is the most difficult part as I keep feeling lethargic all day. No bath? No no no. Bath is a must. Can’t go to office without a bath or a shave, can I? Imagine the plight if you suddenly find that your car is short of gas and there is a long line at the petrol pump? Beware all wrong things happen at the same time.

Then I guess I would wake up shouting - hooray, hooray, no work today so I guess I'll have another lay!! On a serious note though I wake up to natural daylight and don't rely on alarm clocks anymore. I'm not too keen on the either of being rushed off my feet although I accept that some people live very busy lives and so they have to get the balance right which can be quite hard. Once I'm up I have a strict routine that I stick to. I have to have breakfast, can't miss that and then I have a shower, can't miss that either! After I have done these things I will take a breather and then go about my day. Andrew

If I set my alarm an hour late, I would probably just need to call in to work and let them know I wouldn't be there. :) No, not really! It would make me well over an hour late though. After the initial panic wore off, I would go about my normal morning routine and head on in to work. I would call them and let them know about my being late...I wouldn't tell them why I was lats.

Not really much I can do with that I would probably cuss about it and rush around trying to make up time I had probably already lost and just generally make sure I got new batteries for my alarm clock for the follwing day.
As I said you can't really cry over spilt milk, unfortunately from time to time things like this can happen.

That would be a disaster since I tend to wake up 30 minutes before I have to go to work:)
Actually happened no longer than today.I did not forget to set up the alarm but I set it up on my computer. Usually works great but somehow it didnt wake me up,I only got up because of the alarm on my cell phone. Imagine my fury when I found out that my computer needed some software updates and that's what stopped the alarm! So that annoying little message" There are several sofware updates available for your computer.Would you like to install them now?" has been on all night! Well, that was my fault for not considering that option.:)
I brushed my teeth, warmed up the car,no time to take shower though and I don't eat breakfast at home anyway. A little speeding and I even made it 5 minutes early!

The panic you feel when you wake up an hour late is unimaginable. My husband wakes me up when I don't wake up early.
The funny thing that happened to me was when I woke up this morning and I asked my husband where he is going. I thought it was still Sunday. He said he is going to work. Gosh, I hate Mondays. I was even confused last night why he told the kids to go to sleep early because I thought it was still Saturday last night. Well anyway I am glad as of now I am not working. Waking up early is always my problem especially when it is too cold. I am some kind of a night person. Most of the time I like to read and respond discussions on MyLot.

hello mercuryman3a,
Good for you if you set your alarm an hour late. For as for me, I set my cell phone's alarm much much later. For instead of setting it to am I set it to pm for twice already.
Good thing, I was able to weak up thirty minutes before the desired time for if it's not, my children and I will be late. Though we still need to eat cereals beacuse have no time to prepare our food already. But still, my children are angry because I'm thirty minutes late in waking up.

it actually happened to me and my husband. he had set the alarm unnoticed of the time he set and it was 1 hour late. luckily i went for a pee and notice the daylight i looked at the watch and got shocked that it's almost time to go. so if you can just imagine how we rushed in fixing ourselves. since my husband leaves first he just brushed his teeth and washed his face and just changed his clothes and run.... LOL the room was a mess then.... so now, i always make sure that the time is right!!!

This hasn't happened to me because I use my cellphone as my alarm clock. Thus, it's always accurate. Sometimes, I set it a bit early so I have some free time on my hands and when I realize this, I try to go to sleep again. That's what gets me in trouble because if my phone doesn't ring then I might not wake up on time!

When i was working with a private company before (Computer Hardware Shop) i had encountered this "late employee memo". I cant remember what exactly happened with my alarm clock but it alarmed 2 hours late than i expected it to BUZZ. Anyway maybe my niece touched it or something. So what happened next day is that i still managed myself to come into office, but received my first "memo" by being late. I just thought with all my effort to come into office i still got a "warning" =(. Anyway company rules. So next workings days i make sure that my alarm clock is properly set before i go to sleep.

i faced such problems many time. when i get up late. i need to walk out of my house by 9 am then only by 10 am i can reach office so when ever i get up late then usually i have to skip my exercise,my tiffen. then only i can make up to reach office on time else i am late and well the traffic outside in morning too makes the situation so worst when its late that it creates lots of tension.

Hi! These things can just happen when you least expect it. If something unexpected happens, and I am an hour late, I would merely call up the school administration (I am a school teacher) so that they would have somebody to take over my first class or whatever duty I would miss. I don't want to stress myself by running around quick. It happened to me before. I was able to get there in the nick of time, but I forgot some very important things that I needed to bring to school. That really sucks!
Happy myLotting!

I'm always paranoid that I'm going to oversleep somehow. I went through a period when I was going to college that I was constantly oversleeping, which means I was missing my classes. I eventually got over that, but it was definitely interesting.
So now, I double check my clock before I go to bed. If setting the clock is the last thing I do before I go to bed, I'm fine, but if I get up during that time, I always recheck the clock.

Hi Mercuryman, if that happens, and nothing important is planned for that day (no meetings or appointments), then I'm going to call in sick.!
I can't imagine the panic I will go through, if I'm behind time by 1 hour and have to rush to work - the traffic jam would be simply killing!

An hour late? I will not take my morning shower and quickly change to my office wear, and rush to work immediately. Insufficient fuel? That kind of thing never happens to me since I will always ensure I have enough fuel to go to office. The problem is coming back. Hahah.
