How many more sleeps to go mummy? This is a classic.

My son asked me earlier how many more sleeps there were until Christmas. I replied two, so he got on the sofa put a blanket over him and went to sleep, he woke up a bit later and said it nows means there is only one sleep left so he can have his presents tomorrow. I said 'I don't think it quite works that way but well done for trying and explained it was night time sleeps bless. What crafty things have your children or anyone elses tried to bring froward an event or delay something or any funny child logic stories would be good. Huggles. Ellie :D

That has to be the cutest thing I have heard. I love that he counts the day until Christmas by sleeps:) You should have said 4 and then he would have taken a nap today and one tomorrow with no complaints!

Hello Ellie. What a cute story about your son! I think he's quite bright to think this thing through and try to bring on Christmas quickly. Well, although I'm sure my son did cute little things like that as a youngster, I can't remember them (frown). But the other day he was visiting and told me how he told his friends' kids (age 10 and 12) that they should make their parents stay up until one minute after midnight on Christmas eve and then announce "It's Christmas so we can open our presents!" I thought that was pretty funny.

Hi PeralGrace, A happy New Year to you, hope your had a good Christmas. I thought it was cute too, I had to explain it was night sleeps instead. I can see where your son was coming from on his one bless but Santa doesn't reach all the houses at midnight so what if their pressies hadn't arrived yet? LOL. Hope 2009 brings you all you desire. Hi Ellie...that is classic bless him. My grandson has been told that santa will come on Christmas eve but the other day he found some presents in my bedroom and asked who they were for so my story was that Santa had left them with me but they were for other children who hadn't got any, but when he starts delivering presents to everyone he will collect the ones in my bedroom and leave some for me...the explanation was sufficient for my grandson to understand he couldn't open them...what white lies we have to tell around this time of year to our little ones!! lol Have a very Happy Christmas hun Love and Huggles littleowl xx

I hope your grandson thoroughly enjoys his presents. Huggles. Ellie :D

From your discussion I know how important Christmas for you and your children. Christmas is not a festival in China. But in cities more and more younger begin to celebrate for this foreign festival. I think in your children' eyes Christmas likes Chinese new year when we adults give them gifts or even money for a good hope. So in China spring festival (Chinese new year)is similar to Christmas in children' eyes. It's maybe the happiest time for children. Merry X-mas.

This story is so cute. I think every little kid has tried to pull that one, and make Christmas and presents and goodies come faster. I remember doing it as a kid. And I think my second cousin tried it this year. What's that they say? The more things change, the more they stay the same. Tell your son it's two night of sleeps, not two naps, until Santa.

Kids minds work in mysterious ways. This is a cute story. When my sons were little they could wear each others pants. One day they were sitting together and the older boy said to his younger brother. "Hey your zipper is open". His brother responded, "No it's not. These are your pants."

Children's minds are utterly brilliant. I think if we could retain their basic reasoning, we all might find a little more fun in the world. I love to hear stories about people's children who come up with the cutest things.

LOL! That's really interesting...a kid's method to speed up Christmas. I dunno if you can call this crafty or plain stupid, but when we were kids, we would make chocolates last for days by taking just a lick at a time. That's because chocolates were such luxury at that time. Now, I can't even bear the sight of chocolates. Cheers and happy Mylotting

Aren't children, and their amazing minds, adorable? My son is 24 now. But when he was little, Christmas Eve was the only night that he was willing to go to bed really early. He thought that if he went to sleep early, Santa would come early and he could get up at 3 a.m. and play with his toys.

That is so cute. My 2 and a half year old is obsessed with Christmas tress. He just loves them. When we told him that Father Christmas was going to be coming soon, he looked at me and said 'Father Christmas tree coming soon'. He hasn't worked out that they are separate things. So we have now told him that Santa Claus is coming to save any confusion.

Hi Littleone3, A Father Christmas Tree, I like that one, that is very novel. Next year you could perhaps decorate your tree with red and white and have a santa face at the top istead of the angel LOL. That is fantastic, two and a half bless him. Have a fantastic Christmas. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ellie, Awwwww that was so sweet of him, my niece used to say can't she have a surpise, she couldn't say the 'r properley so we used to say well it wouldn't be surprise if were give it to her, but her way was thinking that if she gets to open her surprise, she will still be getting another surprise from Santa on Christmas day, she wasen't silly. Love and huggles. Tamara

Hi Tamara, I see her logic but I would have said that if she opened that suprise now Santa would know and not leave another one. There are always ways round these things. I did let my little man open one today though as the girls and I will open one a midnight so I didn't see why not as he SHOULD be asleep then LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hey ellie! What is with this child? He is too funny! First he is putting poor Ziggy in the crate in the morning. Now he is counting "sleeps" to Christmas! How cute is he! I wish so much I could be there to give him a real hug and squeeze! He is just too precious! I can picture his sweet little face saying that to you so seriously! I wish I could be there on Christmas morning to see how happy he's going to be opening up his prezzies! Now give him another one of his Auntie Opal's hugs and tell him that this one is for Christmas! Love to you Ellie and the whole family! Opal
