Well I have tried and tested most of the anti virus like mcafee and symantec but I have been impressed with what I am using now. Its avira. You may try it and see the difference. It free to download. Simply go to www.free-av.com. I have scanned my flash disc with Mcafee, Norton and other antivirus including avg. But it was avira who found those that the other have not. So, I am now currently using avira. Best of all its free. It also does not slow down your system like other anti-virus do.

Now I'm using AVG Free 7.5 and ClamWin installed on my desktop. The combination of this two free antivirus is very good. I never attacked by virus until now and I hope forever.

I use Avast, www.avast.com. One reason is that it is completely free (legally free) to home users. The second reason is that everytime is uninstall McAfee or Norton from a computer and install Avast, it always finds several viruses that McAfee and Norton missed.

I use McAfee and love it. It is the best I have ever used and I have used several different ones. You have to pay for it but it is the best. I have used the free version of AVG and found it effective, but not always working quite right. McAfee runs about $60.00 for a year or you can get two years for $99.00. It really isn't a bad price considering all the protection you get. You even get protection against hackers. Good luck and happy holidays.

I have tried Kapasky and antivir on Windows.I think Kapasky is stronger. But then I used Returnil to protect my system. It will clean my system from viruses each time I restarted. So I do not have a strong demand for powerful antivirus,I just use antivir-a much smaller antivirus on Windows. What's more,I am mainly using Linux to do daily work now.It is an operating system for free and almost virus-free.Very cool.It is said that a Linux system without antivirus is safer than a Windows system with antivirus. However,I am now using Avast and AVG on Linux, they are both free, but they keeps my desktop even safer.I love linux, for example,Ubuntu,-once you decide to use it,you will get the hang of it pretty soon.

Avg 8 is best at this time. It provide u better security than before, it has also real time protection which is the best feature in any antivirus. Downloading updates is also easy so that u can remain updated all the time from latest virus.

Well, I use ESET NOD32 Antivirus software for maximum protection for my computer. And it is helpful to prevent my pc if I download some harmful component from internet. AVG 8 is also good antivirus software.

I too have tried many antiviruses and is currently using McAfee. I think we should consider any particular antivirus as the best antivirus but the particular version of that antivirus which we are using. As for example, Symentec antivirus 2003 use to slow the computers very much but the latest 2008 version is far better and improved.
Similarly AVG antivirus's 6 and 7th version was also almost useless as it could not identify the viruses efficiently but the latest version may be better as others are saying.
What i think is that we should refer to various surveys and ratings which are providede by various sites for particular versions of an antivirus.
Some good among the rest are: ESET NOD ANTIVIRUS, AVIRA, MCAFEE , KASPERSKY AND NORTON.
