Windows 7 - the BETTER Vista?

Vista has been the most criticized OS of all time. This is because of the fact that it eats up more RAM than it should, not to mention the worthless bundles of apps and widgets Microsoft included. PC users who have used Vista blurt out a lot about incompetence rather than success.
Not to worry, Microsoft says.
The "BIG M" had just announced the BETA testing of Windows 7 - its new OS - also the successor of VISTA.
The question is:
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF THIS NEW OPERATING SYSTEM? COULD YOU PASS ON SOME SUGGESTIONS?
Hopefully, someone working at Microsoft would read my post. ^^

The new windows should still be big and bulky like other windows operating system. Not expecting much of it. I'm still stuck with xp since i want my ram to be put to better use. I also use linux but most software I use just wants to play with Mr. Gates to the exclusion of others.
As to suggestions, I seriously doubt Mr. Gates would listen.

You have tested the beta version?? cool. I want a new computer but I am currently waiting for Windows 7 to come out of BETA, then I will buy it. Not very happy with Vista right now. I really want a new computer, but I have to wait for it. =( I can't afford a MAC, maybe one day.... I can finally get myself a MAC to test it out.
HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Every version of Windows to date has required a greater amount of system resources than the previous one, so I expect that Windows 7 will follow this trend and be very resource hungry. My biggest concern is the attitude of Microsoft towards security aspects, which does tend to make Windows become more restricted with each version.

My friend, we have the same sentiments about the increasing demand for system resources every upcoming OS has. But as I've read from PC World, Windows 7 (like it or not) will be very efficient in system resources and plentiful in useful goodies. The preview also mentioned about the enhanced level of security Windows 7 has.

It had better be something really special, because the way i see things in the tech market people are getting tired of upgrading every few years, they aren't seeing the point anymore. Nobody I have talked to feels like Vista would do a better job of meeting their needs than XP does right now, even if they aren't aware of the massive bloated buggyness of M$'s new OS. I think Microsoft will have to dramatically change the nature of their business or they will start to fade in importance.

I'm hoping that the new Windows 7 can at least be better than Vista or be on par with XP. The Vista is really too problematic for most PC especially those older ones. It is too memory intensive and most corporations are not willing to switch to Vista. It's funny how some M hardcore fans are still supporting it and claiming all of us who hate Vista as people who know nothing.

dude how can u criticize Vista it is one of the best OS than windows and it has many benefit and features which we will need in our daily life and even it is reputed day by day.I accept that it using is little bit tough but if u interact with it you can learn it as fast possible and i think.......and nothing can beat vista.Windows is user friendly but it doesnt have that much protection so i think Windows should be renewed and republished into new version and can be released that will work out well i am sure if windows has some more feature then every1 will select Windows only...But the better perfomance,Better look all goes to vista only nothing else can beat it up

I don't like Vista much. I just hope that Windows 7 will be a lot improvement on the speed of the system. The security should be improvement. And the compability of most program, I hope that most of my applications still works, cause in Vista right now... I can't use some program including my webcam.

hmmm. i still am using only xp and i am just fine with it though i wish that there will better one soon cause i have not wanted to use this vista with all teh bad comlpaints about this vista. if windows 7 will be much better one then i will surely goingto get that one. but i hope it will take less RAM than all windows that we have used before. cause i have only small ram on my computer and ihave a very low computer specs and that is why xp fits my computer the most.

I haven't used vista so I know very little about it. I have however been listening to what people have been saying about vista, all the problems and so forth and so I guess I'm waiting for windows seven to come out and then I will upgrade to that operating system. Sorry I'm not much help otherwise. Andrew

Windows 7 seems to be the OS that Vista should have been: pleasing to the eyes, stable, and has reasonable system requirements. They did a demo of it once using a netbook [a netbook is one of those ultraportable systems with fairly low system specifications] and it worked like a charm. Here's to hoping that it would be a really good and stable OS once it becomes released.
And... User Account Control settings are much much better now with Windows 7.

To say vista is great when compared to the look of the XP. Just imagine who will like to buy extra RAM after buying windows Vista so all love windows XP only if vista is running at little amount of RAM Vist will be good success for microsoft. More over i think bill gates is good copy cat because i find vista is like Apple's Mac os with same style which is released before vista. let us hope there might be a release of patch or service of vista and it will work fine. Even Microsoft has to solve the compactability problems also

I actually really liked vista, and I thought it was a great addition to windows xp. Really, windows vista is more of an expansion pack to the original os, and windows 7 will be the 'actual thing.' I was really excited about vista, and now i'm pretty excited about windows 7 too. I expect windows 7 to improve on performance, and boot times, according to it's wikipedia page.

I agree Vista is highly resource intensive and takes one HELL Of a lot of hard disk. 16 Gb of harddisk space on my comp is filled with Vista and its updates and codecs alone. this is while i've put all my programs on another drive.
It is though a little less problematic than XP. I already get a Generic Host for win32 processes has crashed message a few minutes after i connect to internet on Xp.
Vista doesn't have this problem though. I think UAC is kind of good too. It does do away with all those nasty IE toolbar auto installers. The least priviedges rule is kinda good. So Vista has only exorbitant resources as its downpoint...
Now about Windows 7, i haven't tried it...Frankly I am kinda afraid of it backfiring(since its preBEta). My friend who tried it tells me that its rather good
I'll wait to see if his computer crashes often and then go ahead and get it

Whatever i have heard is windows & is also a resource consuming OS i think i saw a wallpaper and a screenshot of one it looked pretty good but i think a minimum of 1 GB ram is a must i guess.

it seems that Microsoft programs by adding in lots of useless features or features that only a small number of users would ever use. I believe Microsoft recognizes that they are losing photographers, videographers, etc. customers to Apple and linux. I really hope that Windows 7 will try to attract more advanced computer users by reducing OS RAM usage and increase the ability to run high end media programs efficiently.
