How will you spend New Year's eve?

Several places around the world have their own way of welcoming the New Year. There are those who are still traditional and spend it with their family at home. There are also those who travel to other places to spend New Year in a new environment. Well, there are also those who convene in one place with all those fireworks displays and concerts and do the countdown with all the party-goers. Well, I intend to celebrate it the traditional way. How about you? How will you welcome the New Year?

Hi, Happy new year :) Well , i don't usually celebrate a thing called NEWYEAR, i had rather seen my celebrations in every minute of my life. :) But to answer your question, We celebrate TAMIL NEW YEAR. Some wat a traditional way. Visiting and getting blessings from my grand ma and grand pa, and ofcourse receiving a payment from them :D :P We also go to temple and make our wishes left in the ears of the almighty. this is the usual trend of celebrating with my family, but if you ask me in particular, i feel i wud rather stay at home, and njoy what my mind and heart says. I njoy evre moment :)

My family and I usually spend the time together and my brother djs but they don't feel like doing that this year. We just lost a cousin and everyone seems to be moving away from each other. We are usually a very close family but I guess when the things that have been happening we are growing apart. It sad. So this year I guess we will just stay at home and pop a few fireworks maybe watch the ball drop on tv or maybe even rent a movie. No clue lol.

I plan to spend a quiet evening at home with my family. However, if it's like previous years, someone in the neighborhood will have fireworks that will entertain us all.

At home or at church. My church will probably be the real answer though. They are throwing a New Year's Eve Party and concert, so it is bound to be a blast! When I was younger, my mom and I traveled to Florida from GA, to spend time with her brother, my uncle Lonzee and his family. My aunt Bertha would always make wonderful BIG breakfasts, lunch and dinners. All of the meals would be country style, so the portions per person were always enormous!

Hi dolce_vita, I have just spent a fabulous Christmas with my sister and her family at her house and for New Year they are all coming to celebrate with my husband and I at our house. I will be making a light lunch for everybody, just homemade soup, fresh crusty bread, cheese and pate and then in the evening we will all be going out for a six course dinner at a local restaurant where we will see in the New Year with champagne and dancing 'til dawn then we'll return home for more champagne. After a very late night, when we get up we will have brunch and spend the rest of day chilling and enjoying the start of the New Year I have been extremely humbled reading about how some people have had to spend the holiday by themselves or have had no money to buy food and gifts and so I will spend time reflecting and thanking my lucky stars that I have been able to enjoy Christmas and New Year in the way that I have. I you and your family a happy, peaceful and prosperous 2009 and that goes for all fellow mylotters. Happy New Year everybody.

Like I have done for many years now, i will spending New Year's eve at home. For one thing, I do not like the cold, so staying home would be perfect for me, I won't have to go out at all. Plus so many bad things happen, and if I am home, I won't be involved in anything. One year, I made lobster tails for my husband and I and we had a lovely evening. This year we both are unemployed, so the lobster is out of the question. I may go to sleep early, and wake up to a new year. Thanks for asking, and have a safe and happy new year.

It's funny I should come across your discussion about New Year's Eve celebrations, because I have just had words with my husband about it this morning. We hosted Christmas this year for my family and it was a lot of work and although I enjoyed it, I felt quite relieved it was over and was looking forward to a quiet New Years Eve to relax, but my husband has gone and invited everybody back to our house again! So as you can imagine I am very impressed! I will still have a good night if I don't kill my husband first!

There is always one particular way that I "ring" in the new year; that is in church. As a christian I believe in giving God thanks for what he has done for the old year and ask Him to pave the way for a brighter future in the new year. I find this experience great. God is there awaiting to hear and answer our many requests. There is always a time of testimonies and this is always fun to listen to different stories and their outcomes. It is also a time for reflection and evaluation so informed plans can be made. This can take the form of having strategic goals hightlighted. This year a girlfriend of mine has invited my husband and I to her celebration and I think I will take up the invitation. This is her second time trying to have us at her home celebratiion. I will show my face then leave. She intends to have a late dinner so i'll prepare to share in this aspect and then leave. By the way she knows my position so she will compromise. My lotters I hope you will have atime for Godly refections and be inspired through his Word. Hope you 'll have a great 2009!! By the way what is your personal priority in 2009? Why not share this?

Traditionally i spent New year with my family and still this coming new year. We traditionally welcome the new year with a prayer when the clock strikes at 12 then after that we join in making noises, eat foods, and have fun singing on karaoke. But-well this time would be quite lonely as we are only three at home to celebrate, only my parents and me. I don't know what will be our new year but i hope we are all happy. I just miss all the siblings and nieces as well. Anyway, i guess what is most important that i have my parents to celebrate with. That's what matters. Have a nice day! happy mylotting.
