Your Worst Costly Mistake

As most people know I go to the gym five times a week and I always make sure I have my Ipod in my sports bag, I hate being without my music when I am training, it's always fully charged, nothing worse than the battery running down as you are about to use it!
Having music on whilst you are training makes it more fun and I am so lost without it.
But on Saturday I had an accident, I always have a bottle of water with me as well to rehydrate me, well I couldn't have put the lid on properly and when I got home Saturday evening the water had spilt out everywhere and yes, you guessed it my Ipod was in the bag!
The Ipod got soaked, and it refused to work, I tried to dry it out but to no avail, now poor Wolfie hasn't got any music to play when he goes to the gym tomorrow!
So I've got to buy a new one, and they are not cheap to replace either :0****(
So have you ever made a costly mistake?
Have you had to pay out for being clumsy?

Oh Wolfie, That is so sad to hear, one of my daughtes is like that wit her Ipod and would be lost without it. Maybe look to see if someone has a seconhand one for sale as there have been bought a newwer model for Christmas or see if there is one at a knock down price in the ever continuing sales. I think the most costly mistake I have made in recent years was leaving my mobile within my toddler at the times reach and he throw it in the bath, two weeks old and beyond repair, ouch. I find exercising to music much more pleasant too. I hope you manage to get something sorted. Huggles. Ellie :D

Wolfie, I understand you are really peeved about it but I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and it could be that the money you spend on an Ipod now delays you from putting a deposit down on somewhere that wouldnt have been right because the following month your ideal place does appear if that makes sense. Example of this was a mate who was due to do a house exhange called me to say the other person had pulled out, she was devastated, four years she had been waiting, good news though is that on the 15th of this month she was given the keys to a brand new property complete with carpets that had become available for her as when built the housing association decided on a no children policy in the block. She now has her perfect home and is thankful for the fact that the first one did fall through. Glad the huggles make you smile. Here are some more. Huggles, Huggles, Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ya wolfie34
A friend of mine once dropped her phone down the loo as it fell out of her back pocket.
I think you heard about the recent episode with my friend's daughter's DS, my son's Power Ranger kick and the bucket of water!
Apart from that I can't think of anything off the top of my head that has been a costly mistake, well not recently anyway!!

Only once. That was years back as I have returned from a shop to my parked scooter and started riding a guy just signed me to stop and I parked at the street side. I asked what and he told me that he is seeing something red under my back tire. Panicked I got down to have a look and to my relief found it is red paint. He offered a tissue and I bent down and wiped it clean. I got back into my scooter all the time forgetting my pouch which I have placed in the front basket. Well it is needless to say that I found it vanished when I parked my scooter nearby. The pouch had my credit card, one thousand dollars and a cute little Ganesha idol made of ivory which I kept inside as my lucky charm.
Now I feel very much safe inside my car.

If all you want is a few tunes to exercise with why not get an IPOD shuffle? They come in great colors and now only cost around $50.00. They hold 250 songs, more than enough to work out with. They are the size of a matchbook and they have a built in clip to clip onto your shirt and out of your way. My family has 5 of them, all in different colors. Some are used by my Dad while he works, a couple of them are mine for when I need music for housework or yard work.
As for costly mistakes - yep I've done them. But I think the most costly one was the time I backed over a pinto in a parking lot with my husband's 4x4 truck. The thing was so tiny and his truck had so much mud I couldn't see the car behind me. LOL

Hi wolfie, that sounds like an absolute disaster! Thankfully I have not had to go through what you experienced! Like you, I love to keep fit and I exercise to music, I just love moving to the rythum! I hope that you are able to pick up another ipod in the sales or something. I don't know what I would do without my exercise music and I hope that I don't face the same problem. Good luck. Andrew

I will check out Ebay, Argos and other sites to find the best deal, the last one I paid £119 for so I hope they have gone down a little since then. Mind you they don't seem to last nowadays do they. I need my music when I exercise not the same without it and I hate the awful music they put on at my gyms!!!!

Sorry to hear it wolfie. I did make some mistakes which cost me some money but not as costly as like yours. But the thing is that I often make less costly mistakes, so it adds up. Every now and then I have to throw away things like mushroom, spinach, tomatoes from my fridge because I forget to cook them in time, and they are costly vegetables . As I do it frequently it really adds up.

My worst costly mistake would have to be when I made the mistake of using a longer phone cord to connect my laptop to the Internet. Even though the cord was in the bedroom, my oldest (and autistic) son was able to grab it from under the door and pull! He pulled and yanked so hard, he actually pulled the computer right off of the dresser it was sitting on and it went plunk onto the floor! I thought for sure it was destroyed, and it would have been, but my husband was able to save it. Good thing too, because this laptop was not cheap.
Okay, so it wasn't costly but my poor laptop is all taped up now. But at least it works.

Oh, that's really sad, Wolfie! I haven't such a costly mistake in my life. :) Of course, I have lost a pair of gold earrings owing to carelessness, but I treat my electronic items with great care. :)
Cheers and happy Mylotting

First, I am so sorry for your loss...Oh my gosh!
Yeah, of course I have made tons of costly mistakes. Two month ago, for example, my brand new samsung mobile phone was broken by me. If it was not a big deal, something more terrilbe happened later. It was but yesterday, someone's electric pad was on fire. I, um, just accidently splashed some water to it. So...it cost me an arm and a leg to pay for it. Absolutely I was overstating, haha
Actually, you may not know what an electric pad is, which sort of looks like an electric fan. Me either! Both of them are so dated. As you know, most people use air conditioner nowadays. But..some people still use the things that I mentioned for reasons.

I do envy you. I should join you so that my belly will disappear. I have grown out of my jeans that I bought some months ago. I should go on a strict diet. I have made some blunders that costed me money such as dribbing my new mobile baby nokia in the dog;s water bowl. Needless to say I had to throw it away.

Once, I didnt have enough spyware protection and anti virus and I didnt run it all enough because I was working alot of hours. My computer got a trojan to the c fiees and it damaged my computer and it was never right again. I bought another computer . That was on my first computer. It was a long time ago. Ugh. Thats a bad mistake to make. So Sorry about your ipod. I have also had prefume bottles and make up caps come off in my purse and make a mess. Lots of litle things but none as big as the computer deal.

Oh Wolfie, I know your pissed! I would be too. Hope you can find another one at a good sale price. Check online today, there are a lot of sales and discounts but the only problem with that is you won't have it for tomorrow. Good luck - oh and get a new back pack, the kind that holds the water bottle outside your bag.

We must be in the same club!! I spilled a cup of tea on my laptop 5 months ago... It totally fried!! It cost me €700 to replace it. Thankfully a friend told us that it should be covered by our home insurance so we rang them, and yes it was covered. So now I am just waiting for my check to arrive for 400. It doesnt completely cover it but it helped.

Bummer on your ipod.
Yeah our most costly mistake was buying this house. It was more than we could chew as we were hoping to buy a house or start a family. I found out I was pg a few days before we bought the house. Seemed all fine and dandy til one figures out how much daycare is and then decide it's more cost effective for me to stay home. However all the things we thought we could fix with two incomes are not getting done with only one. Though I have picked up a pt job but it only seems to compensate for the increases in our regular bills not paying for the extras or paying down debt.
Sometimes life is just to frustraiting.

oh so sad to hear about your Ipod. Well here goes mys story... i am a student in malaysia doing my degree course which just started in february 08. And in april I forced my brother to send me money so that i could buy a bike. I dint had a license though but i said that nobody checks for the license. So he sent me money and i bought a bike. I drove for about a month without a license but later what happened that once late at night i was going to my friends house and suddenly there was a police road block. I Stopped before the road block but i think the police saw me and he came towards me running and yelling at me. I had the documents for the bike but i dint had license and insurance. So I got a traffic summon of RM 600.. Thats around $200. I am financed by my brothers as my father have passed away. My brothers are both married and have their own families. So i dont really like asking for money. They bought me a bike that i was a big thing they did i feel. So i dint tell anyone about this at my home. Now i spend around RM 1000 here and its almost impossible to take 600 out and pay the summon. I was soo angry at myself. that was my mistake that i dint had license and i bought a bike. Then later i sold he bike and told my brother that i had a accident and i am scared to drive it. And the money i have used it now i have to arrange some money to pay my summon as i have to renew visa soon and i think i have to pay it before reewing it.
