Empathy and Psychic Abilities

Only recently I found out I was an empath and that my mother was also one, meaning I obviously got it from her. There is also a strong chance that my sister is also an empath.
When reading about empaths, I realised the one I am isn't really suggested. Most empaths can feel what others feel or instantly tell what someone is like, just like my sister. Me, on the other hand, I can feel pain of others or inflict pain towards myself. Despite not having the ability to tell what someone is like, I can somehow realise what has happened to them. In one case I wrote a story for my friend and it seemed to relate to her well, despite the fact I knew little about her at the time.
I don't think I have a psychic ability like telepathy though. I still want to be a telepath, though! I experience De Ja Vu, though, and a bit of Out-Of-Body-Experience and I predict things through writing.
Are any of you empaths, psychics or just interested in the topic?

I first heard the word 'emphaty' in 1982. I was told that it meant more than symphaty. Being symphatic means we feel pity for the concerned person. Being emphatic means one can feel whatever is tormenting the other person.
I had similar cases which sometimes made people fear me. Imagine talking about the troubles and life experience of a person who I have just met. I was thught to be a mind reader. Luckily I am not, otherwise there could be complications in my life. My part time activity now is as a part time psychic ghost hunter.
all the best,

Most psychics are empaths. They learn how to close them selves so they won't be overwhelmed by all waht's going around them.
I don't know if you read Sylvia Browne - she's a great psychic, for real.
Maybe you can get in touch with her too.She has her site sylviabrowne.org
I have no "powers", even though I wish I could.
Anytime you're helping someone in need, you're doing a great job!

Yeah I try to help but sometimes the pain is a little too much. This is a reason why I can't watch horrors, either! But hey... yeah, I like to help out with people and their problems, I have a great understanding for them. Some are happy that I help out.

Not many people have heard of empathy, my friends become surprised when I tell them about the whole pain thing I get. I guess lots of people wish to have some sort of ability, but actual everyone has a unique and empathetic ability but some just don't show. Anyway, feeling pain isn't all so great, seeing as when I see or think of something horrifying, like blood and a broken leg, I become numb or get pains a lot, and believe me, it is no picnic. Some people though can tell by staring at someone what they are like, say if you saw someone and they were nice, you could instantly tell that they were cruel and toying with you. Sometimes you can even hear things others can't, see what others can't and, strangest of all, taste something before even trying it!
You might have an ability yourself, just try and find it.
