Do you ever wonder what your dog is staring at?

I sometimes wonder what my dogs are looking at. I have 2 dogs and sometimes they are both staring in the same direction as if they are watching something, but nothing is there. They don't bark or growl at it. They just keep staring. I feel like they can see something because what ever it is, it seems to hold their attention for a few minutes. It especially freaks me out if they start to wag their tails. Is it possible that my dogs are seeing a ghost? I don't know what else to think, but I was wondering if other dogs do it too and why?

It's kind of weird. I don't get freaked out when they do it while we're on a walk. I only get freaked out when they do it in the house and they're staring in the direction of a wall or the dark living room. It reminds me of how they look at me when I'm doing silly things to get their attention except no one is there.

oh yeah, that is freaky.
my dog has done that once or twice before, just starting at the wall and looking at it weird, turning his head as if someone or something was there doing something.
totally freaked me out because they say dogs can see ghost and all that...
and that first thing that popped into my mind was that hes seeing something along those lines.

I don't have a dog yet. But I believe that there is another dimension coexisting with ours. Maybe the dogs can sense it, see it. hehehe... Imagine that you are in your bedroom and there is someone there with you too, but you can't even see or hear them. But they can see you. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh..

If it was a cat,I would definitely say they see ghosts or something supernatural, with dogs you never know. Dogs are goofy and often do things that make no sense to us. My dogs stare in space pretty often but most times they do when they are bored or embarrassed. If you scold them, one of them goes away but the other one actually sits with his back to you and will turn his head to look at you over his shoulder veery slowly like a flirting girl lol If I was to take a picture of that,I'd name it "Pride and Hope clashed"

That happened to our dogs as well. We don’t have them now so it’s past tense. Before we noticed them staring upward, looking on something on a wall or the ceiling. Of course we wonder what was on there because we’re seeing nothing and they would bark as if there is a big intruder in the house. Sometimes we would think and believe it’s a ghost hehehe.. Well they do have different eyesight from humans so they do see tiniest things (maybe) that humans can’t.

I'm glad someone else experienced that other than me. It's so scary when they do that. I would sometimes walk right up to the wall that they are looking at and I really don't see anything. It freaks me out when they stare at nothing then they lose focus for just a moment and then focus back on it again. I always think that the ghost moves to get their attention again. Ooh, I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

Ironically, once again I'm unique from all others who have yet to respond to your discussion. It is not the staring off into space that bothers me. (I have one cat, and a dog) Quite frankly, I don't know what they were looking at, I've considered a bug, or perhaps spirits or ghosts. Unlike the other responders I would be quite comfortable with the presence of ghosts or other unexplained phenomenon.
What absolutely drives me crazy is when my dog barks! She scares the living daylights out of me!
She is a trained service animal, to assist me as I am disabled and use a wheelchair, and she is only allowed to bark on command. For example, I can ask her to "speak" and she will bark to bring me assistance or to draw others attention to us. I also live alone, and so when she barks without my asking, I'm terrified! What does she hear that I do not?! Is that noise I hear an animal in the bushes or a prowler?! The list goes on and on, and I have a vivid imagination so before long I end up, working myself up into a tizzy all because I have a dog that barked!!!
As I've already said, it's not the unexplained phenomenon that bother me, it's the potential for humans to do completely bizarre and irrational things I'm afraid of.
That's just my 2¢ worth. Happy Mylotting!

Dogs can be funny sometimes. It never came into my mind that dogs can see ghosts. If they could talk I would ask them if they do believe in them after all.

My boyfriend told me when i still had my dog, that right before i came home everyday she was sitting in front of the door just looking at him.
She knew i was comming home any minute.
I think she could hear me walking.

Moochie my dog is usually like that. He would just stay on something i don't know. Sometimes he would just stare at me as if he wants to say something. I really don't know about ghosts but i think dogs think deeper when they're like this.

The dog is probably staring at nothing, but smell something and like it. Maybe it is a ghost. I dont think it would be,though.
