I am planning to buy sony W-120 digital camera. Many of the guys present here may be using digital cameras. What is the review of the camera? Is there a better option available in the same budget range? Camera is a 7.1 MP camera, has 4X zoom and has an ISO sensitivity of upto 3200

The W-120 is an excellent camera. The camera shoot in 1080p and if you have an HDTV, you can show your pictures on your tv. The camera comes with a lithium ion battery, a battery charger, and cables that can be hooked up to your computer or to your HDTV. I love the ISO on this camera. You will be able to take excellent pictures indoors and in any low light situation like dawn or dusk. The only Sony that I like better is the W-150 that has all of the same features but has a 5x zoom and 8.1 MP's. It costs a slight bit more but worth it. Buy this one soon. My job is selling cameras and tv's. The store that I work for took the price on the 120 down to $119 (Can you believe that. Retailed for $179 before the sale) and we sold out in a couple of days. We're not able to order the camera and that tells me that we're not able to get them from the manufacturer so if you see it buy it now.

Thanx for ur knowledge enhancing post laura..I'll keep ur views in mind when I go to buy the camera. Can you believe it!, in India W-120 costs Rs 11000, i.e. 220 $ (11000/50)...Isn't that a very big profit margin for the company!!

On the hard drive, you're only going to get a couple of minutes of video on any digital camera. Of course, the size of your memory card will give you more shooting time. The quality will be very good for a digital still picture camera. It own't be the same kind of quality however that you will get from a good camcorder but with the camcorder, you won't be able to get a still picture that is as good as from a digital. I think that the manufacturers do it purposely so that they can sell you two cameras. I would buy the W-120 and if later you want to pick up an easy to use and inexpensive camera to shoot film, try the new Flip camera. Very simple to operate and takes good quality film. CNN issues the Flip to its' reporters because of its' simplicity of use.

I like Sony cameras, and the reviews I have read of this one seem quite good, especially at the price. The relatively low ISO is an advantage, giving less noisy images in low light conditions. Nevertheless, it isn't great in poor light. You might also look at the equivalent Canon and Panasonic offerings.

My comment on noise was related to the ISO capability: it might go to 3200 ISO, but my experience with Sony and other similar cameras is that you won't get anything worth keeping above 400 ISO.
