I love dolphins. I saw them on movies and TV programs. I also read stories about them. They are so gentle and smart. And they are friendly to human. I wish I can see a real one. But the sea I visited don't have dolphins.
Did you ever see a real one?

I've only seen them at places like theme parks, but not in the open ocean.

We have a small gulfarium here that has dolphins and also a couple place that take you on short dolphin cruises (about 2 hours). They get the boat as close as possible to the dolphins so you can see them up close and get pictures. It's pretty cool. My daughter and I go every year but it's now more for just cooling off during the summer than seeing the dolphins.
Cheers,
Stan

I live in the U.S., specifically Southern California. I don't want to make you jealous but we see dolphins off of our coast all of the time. One of my favorite times was this summer. DH and I were in a cocktail lounge overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach and six dolphins put on a show for us. They were jumping in and out of the water as if they were performing for us and they were less than 50 yards away from where we were. They're such magical wonderful creatures.

wow!!! That's amazing! Jeepers! They play around and you just live beside them. Lucky you! This world is unfair- I live in a very dry city. For taking a look at a small lack, I have to travel several hours :-(
Enjoy your time with your lovely dolphins! - you surely make me jealous.

Yes, I've seen dolphins off the coast in Hawaii and also in Souther California. My husband and I sometimes walk on the bridge in Hermosa Beach and watch the dolphis play. It's a really cool thing to see. I hope you get your wish and see them some day.

I haven't but I really want to! Could you imagine swimming with them?
My mom and I were talking about how cool it would be to have a miniature dolphin. One the size of a goldfish and keep him in a tank.
But anyways, lol, dolphins are amazing! I can't wait to see one up close and personal.

I have seen them many times and they are very sweet and gently. I got the chance to swim with them on my cruise a few years back and they were very curious critters and loved to play and be rubbed on their belly. It was a truly magnificent experience and one of my favorite memories.

I've actually had the chance to swim with them twice. I have always loved dolphins and when we went on a cruise we got knee deep with them and learned some hand motions for tricks. A couple years later we went to Mexico and to the Xcaret park/zoo and actually swam with them. They did a trick where they put their noses on the balls of your feet and push you out of the water! It was very cool. They are very friendly, gentle, and curious creatures.

I pet and fed dolphins at Sea World, but I've seen a pod of dolphins in the wild once.
I was at San Clemente State Beach (in Southern California) one day, and my friend accidently skimboarded into me...right onto my foot! For a little girl, I'm pretty tolerant with pain, but not this time! My foot was bleeding, and I actually cried. Just then, a pod of dolphins swam by, and they were super close to shore! My bf and our friend was like, "Look! They came by to make you feel better!" Hahaha and I did feel better after seeing them.

I also love dolphins and I had always wanted to see one in the wild.
Finally a few years ago my best friend and I booked a vacation just for this purpose.
We rented a cottage overlooking the Shannon Estuary, at Carrigaholt on the west coast of Ireland, and we went out with a local Dolphin watch boat several times.
There is a large pod of dolphins living in that area, and we were lucky enough to see many - and we even saw them jumping out in the estuary while we were back in the cottage, from the windows!
The best moment by far though was when we were both leaning over the side of the boat
and a small, I assume a baby, dolphin jumped right up where we were, close enough to touch. I'd heard dolphins were intelligent, but since then I truly do believe that they are intelligent and self aware. I made eye contact with this little dolphin and it was actually quite startling as it wasn't like looking at a dog or cat, an animal, but more like a person, with a sort of exchange of recognition. Hard to explain.
There is definitely something special about them.

I love dolphins too and I have seen them in real life. It was about 2 years ago at the local beach. It was absolutely amazing. The time 2 years ago was when we went on a dolphin watch. Another time was about a year ago when me and my fiance were at the beach and we were on jet ski's it around sunset and when we were out in the water they came out of nowhere it was amazing!!
