Hello friends,
Here in my place we have a very long vacation this month. It is more than one week which is the longest vacation so far that i ever incounter for mostly it only takes 3 days. Since i am only at home i bring my unfinish work from the office so i good finish it as soon as passible before the end of the year. And also inorder for me to keep busy and refain me from going outside the house that leads me to unnecessary expenses.
Do you have the habit of bring your office work at home during holiday.?

I never did, but that was before computers, but I know both my sons have. One of them is in computers and the other works for the province, so they both bring work home. I do know that some businesses take advantage of their employees by emailing them when they are on vacation and I hope that your business is not doing that. You do need a break once in a while. If the work is unfinished and you have to complete it at home, that is different, but if your employer is piling extra work on you so you have to do it at home that is a different story.

I was watching a program on Tv a couple of years ago and they were talking about employees who because they had lap tops and their employers knew it, were asked to go to work while they were on vacation and it seemed as if their employers expected them to be at work twenty-four hours 365 days a year. So I am glad to see that you have a nice boss and what you do is on your own.

No, definitely not and I would not like my hubby to bring home any work either. As long I am at office, my attention and dedication are to my work but the moment I step out, I am for my family. After all I am earning to keep my family happy, if I am not with them mentally while at home, what’s the point in trying to make them happy?

I never do that and i don't like people who bring their unfinished work to home and ruining the vacation or fun. My dad use to bring his office work to home also so everyone was not happy with him but he does not these days after having some discussions on the matter by my mom. But it depends on what kind of work you are bringing home, as for my dad it was his assignments and projects so, we have to keep quit or not go near him which was not very healthy specially during vacations.

Hi healer,
Well there are things that are unavoidable, We have to bring home our work so we could make it to the deadline. I understand your Fathers for what he do is your future too. Be supportive to him, as long he can spend time with you when he is available. Happy new year.

I always do, because I work at home
Kidding aside, I always do bring work from the office even before I worked at home. I don't know if I'm bored at home or I'm just plain workaholic. I just want to keep myself busy, that is. So why not spend time on those unfinished workload? Besides, it keeps my mind off my worries, aside from the fact that it makes my job easier. Others (especially my boss) also appreciate the extra time and effort I spend with my work, it goes without saying that I love doing my work!

hello Margarit,
I am an engineer in a semi-conductor company and I support the production line. We have three shifts working everyday to cover twenty four hours a day. So incase, I have a problem with my assigned device I can endorse it to the incoming shifts. Unless, it's so urgent that need to be shipped out at once I'm extending my work till such time that the device is out for shipment.
Other than that, the incoming shift will take charge of everything. Paper works or report works must be done every after shift.
And because of this set-up, I'm not bringing home unfinish work at home.

Hello Margarit!
I teach in one of the universities here in the Philippines and there are times when I really need to bring an unfinished work. Like this Christmas break, I had to bring home some papers to check. The students had their periodical exams before we went on Christmas break. On the other hand, we teachers are required to submit the grades of our students few days after classes resume in January. Well, rather than rushing things when I go back to work on January, I would rather work on them now.

I try not to. I really don't have more than a couple of days at a time anyway, but unless I have a pressing deadline, I'll leave it at work. I do check my e-mail though to make sure everthing is ok. As a matter of fact, this weekend which I was off, my boss sent me a message to pick up a new file from a customer on the way in today. I have enough to do at home without having to take extra stuff home! Enjoy the New Year!

As much as possible, I separate my work with my friends and family. I have my own time with my family and friends so as much as possible, I finish my work at the office, if I can't make it then there's tomorrow... Thanks for the discussion!Happy mylotting and happy holidays! Cheers!

Hi, Margarit
i have always brought work at home, especially during holidays. my working habit is usually a "strike anywhere" thing. i could work industriously at home and then just goof off at the office. there is really no problem with that as long as i do what i am supposed to do in time.
take care!

Recent days, I bring my unfinished works to home. And I have to talk through skype at home instead of at office. I feel the job now is a little heavy burden for me. It seems that works crop up continuely. I'm at a loss . My personal spared time is occupied by the work. Is my working effiency low or the work burden high? Now my department is staking in new members. Hope the situation will be improved soon. Anyway, I can't enjoy the holiday now. I'm worried about the heavy burden.

At the most I won't bring work to home.. But due to some unavoidable circumstances I will be in a position to bring and finish it in home.. This will happen rarely during project closing date or when a take a long leave.

My last two jobs, I would bring work home on the week ends to complete them. I worked as a Payroll Administrator and as an Accounting assistant. If I was having a problem balancing a report, I would bring it home, rather than waste at workd trying to figure it out. At home I had my husband help me, since it is easier if someone is calling out the numbers and the other person is checking them off.

Well, for me my work is always at home. I work from home. So, my work is always at home with me. I did force myself to take some time off for the holidays. Even if I had planned on working a bunch, it would not have happened. The kids are on Christmas break. So, they are home all day. With all 6 kids in the house, it is kind of hard to talk on the phone most of the time. So, I am just enjoying spending time with my family. I will get back to working a lot more after they go back to school.

My company gives me a corporate laptop for a reason. One, is to ensure we can be mobilized to go to client site in the shortest amount of period. Two, is for us to continue working while at home. Because if they want us to work in the office with the desktop, they will have to pay us a certain amount of money as dinner allowance based on our country's labor law. Unfortunately, they don't because we're supposed to take our laptop and go home and work. Hahaha. Also, there are times we are allowed to work from home and a laptop is definitely convenient.
I know some colleagues of mine will not bring their laptop back and leave their unfinished work in the office. For me, I wouldn't do that. I will always try to work a little at home especially when the deadline is close.

I usually bring work home every night. It takes me 1-2 hours each night and on the weekend, I spend 2-4 hours working depending on my work load. Before I take a vacation and after a vacation, I typically double my at home work load so that I can get everything caught up.

My sister also bring her work everynight and sometimes she forget to sleep inorder to meet the deadline of her work, it is very stressful job, and i dont think i will like it. I only have to bring my work once a year during this month for i cannot finish it in a single day, it take more than a month to finish it. Thanks for the respond.

No, I don't have the habit of bring the work home. I hate do the office work at home. I will do my best to finish my work in the office even if I have to finish it off the working time. Home is my private place, and I hope it's a relaxant and comfortable place.

As much as i would like to do it, it will be very difficult & complicated for me to bring my work at home. I work as an accounting staff and most of my work requires checking details om our acctg books which are very big books & there are so many of it. I cant afford to bring all these acctg book to my house because it will be too much of work & complication & might just end up in trouble. Also i would like to spend this vacation really free from stress so i will just continue working after this vacation. :P

Thanks for the respond.
