I've been using AVG for many years and it has been fine for me but my uncle uses Avast (He moved from AVG) and I am not sure why he changed software. How good is Avast compared to AVG? What are the pros and cons of both software and should I make the move? Should I leave AVG and get Avast? I use Windows Vista x64

I think both are best and both are equally good if you are happy with AVG antivirus continue using it you need not change it because your uncle has changed he may have some other benifit with that anti-virus.
If i have to say best antivirus of all available antivirus i will say McAfee. it is really nice. i am using McAfee.

Hi though avast is less popular compared to kasperasky, avg like anti virus but avast is very powerful antivirus ,its detection capacity is very high but apart from kasperasky these antivirus has one demerit ,that is they can't disinfect the files but they delete it.That may cause some problem.

Well, since I am no longer use Windows, I would not know. However, after using Windows XP for over seven years, I would say it is a matter of personal choice. I have seen both programs being highly recommended and rated very highly by sites like PC Magazine and other websites about PC software.

both are a waste according to me. i am sorry to be a bit rough but thats my experience. i like Mc Afee Virus scan enterprise. this is no promo. i am stating from my experience. even this is not 100% perfect but i have found it slightly more effective than AVG. avast is very bad according to me.
what i like in this McAfee is the ability to prevent the formation of new exe files in program files and windows directory. activate this option and you can prevent virus outburst (if it happens). i am using it at office. very safe for the past two years. to be frank i also tested by running a few virus files in my PC.
