Instead of calling it a New Years Resolution I am going to call it a goal or goals. Goals are easier to accomplish for me. Here are my New Years Goals for 2009:
Get out of debt
Lose this extra weight I put on due to my medication
Submit articles and essays to higher paying print magazines so I no longer have to slave for the low paying content sites
And, last but not least, Write more fiction and try harder to get published in a book. I love writing short stories and want to write a novel also.
I have a plan on how to keep these goals but they are too many to list. I wrote a blog post about these goals but it will not be published until tomorrow. I will post the link in a comment when it has been published.
So what are your New Years Goals and how do you plan to keep them in 2009?
Happy New Year! :)

Hello fellow writer..gosh I haven't been to Accentuate Writers in ages...LOL
My goals are almost identical to yours....while I'm making some money with all those writer sites I DEFINITELY got to get back to my fiction writing which to be honest in more my cup of tea but since I've been so busy writing to try and earn money NOW..my fiction writing has bite the dust..especially the novels I've started...yup have a few...I already have over 100 pages of one novel but haven't written anything in it in god knows when. Mmmm..I too seem to have "plans" but get sidetracked...being I'm a photographer also I want to really promote my photography work more....that's kind of taken a back seat also with all the writing I do at those sites

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that gets "burnt out" from writing articles. I sometimes actually have to take a day off now and then just to revitalize myself and get ready for the next "round" of writing articles like crazy
I'll check out Accentuate soon and see about not only the better paying writing gigs but the contests too over there
And I'll check that blog of yours :-)

Yeah I really get burnt out and stressed out from writing so many articles. I write for Demand Studios and they are the most stressful to work for. They give you deadlines and then when you do submit your work, if it is not perfect enough for them then they ask you to edit this, and add that. Right now I have dial up, only until January, but sometimes I can't get the site to load and I can't get the assignments done in time and I end up having to delete and re-claim articles. They do give you seven days to do them but the way my dial up is, sometimes I have a hard time with them. Also they have problems with the site and I often get locked out. Two weeks ago I got locked out and after about 8 emails asking them to fix my account, they finally did tonight. I log on only to see that all of the good titles were taken. You can suggest your own titles and they used to pay $15 an article for suggested articles but now they only pay $5 for suggested titles and $15 for claimed titles that you claim from their site. Most of their titles suck.
So I am going to start submitting more to AC, posting more on today.com, my other blogs as well, ehow.com, and I am going to try Bright Hub out. Bright Hub pays $10 an article. I will still work for Demand Studios but not as much because the stress is not worth it. Also, like I said, I am going to concentrate more on the higher paying gigs and my fiction in 2009. I can do that because my husband has gone back to school and he will be getting a better job.
Yeah, a quiet of few of our friends over at Accentuate are at today.com. I have two blogs with them, one called rambling thoughts and the other is called my pets. It is from the points of views of my cats and dogs. I think the pet blog is really fun! I also have about 5 or 6 blogger blogs but I am thinking of deleting a couple of them because I don't have time to update them all the time like I should be. Besides, I like today.com better.
I hope to see you soon over at Accentuate! :)

We have some similar writing goals. I was hoping to get published too. I have not finished writing the book though.
I know that content sites can be low paying, but I wonder if any print publication would want my articles. But it might be good to try that channel too.
I would want to spend more time with my daughter and teach her more things. I must get my Montessori stuff out of the store room so she can play with them. All the best!

I can not believe it 09 will be the first year that I have not made any New Year Goals. I guess because I keep coming up short I have decided not to make any. When I use to make my New Year Goals I would also write down what I had accomplished in 2008.

Please give some info on being published in magazines, either small or large. I would love to be published in one of any size. My goals for the New Year are:
Pay off my small bills by getting a second job or making more money online.
Starting my own business from home, but not until June or July.
These two things will really keep me busy and I won't be finding much time for other things.

That's cool!......new year's goal instead of the commonly term new year's resolution. Well mine is hopefully to transfer from this apartment we have by now to a bigger place or possibly get our own house by next year. But before that I really want to have a job but before that I want to have my papers approved first; I mean my changed status visa and that's the very basic one. Now you see, my goals are being ranked from the biggest or the quite-complicated one to the smallest, w/c is the most attainable one...lol! Happy new year.
