Being an adult is fun....!

Seriously, I like being an adult. I get to do all of those things that my parents told me not to do as a child, for instance, I had a cookie this morning for breakfast. As a kid I was always told, I wasn't allowed have dessert, before dinner. So far, cookiesin the morning haven't killed me yet... They may come back to haunt me with extra weight, or heart disease in the future.
OK, I kinda went off on a bit of a tangent there but my point is this. Being an adult is fun at times. Sure, we have to pay the bills, feed kids, and act responsibly, but we also get to do what we want to do, and unless it is against the law, for the most part there's no one to tell us not to.
So my question to you is this, what things do you regularly indulge in that you were never allowed to do while you were a kid? Tell me, all of the good things about being an adult!
Please post your comments, but watch out for your mom and dad, they may be behind you reading your post and they may catch you with your hand in the cookie jar so to speak!

You know, I rather think what parents mean by being an adult is being like them, not like a grown-up kid. I never saw the sense in it myself, and I figure I've managed to get to about 14 by now, albeit a reasonably sensible 14, and I'm pretty happy with that.
I can't imagine my father ever driving along in the country and saying, "Oh, that road looks interesting, let's take a side-trip". I can't imagine either of them being keen on staying up all night drinking and bonking and watching the sun come up. Come to think of it, I can't imagine them doing anything like that even when they were teenagers. I think they were both born adults.
I can't really answer your question properly, because just about averything I've done with my life, be it as a child or an adult, would eqaute with what they might have done, they really were a serious pair. Sure, they got rich and I didn't, but hey! I'd rather be poor but honest. Well, not honest so much as poor but interesting.

When I go to buffets I eat until I feel sick. I also tend to eat my dessert first. These are things that I was not allowed to do as a kid, but I like to do now.
At the same time, I do miss some things about being a kid, and even more than that I miss being in college. Now that was great. And I am not even a partier. That has nothing to do with my love for college, but rather the schedule, the learning, and the setting.
I do wish I could revive that time all over again.

I like being an adult, too. I can eat ice cream for breakfast if I desire, I can stay up all night writing if I want to (my parents and I used to have battles about that when I was a kid), and because of my occupation, I can sleep late if I want to without anyone telling me different. I suppose if I got a day job it would be different, but presently, I don't have one.

Well we were never allowed as kids to have a Coke or Dr. Pepper in the morning....It was not allowed until after lunch and then half the time, she just wouldn't buy it so we would suffer.....Now, yes I will have a soda in the morning sometimes....Its not bad being in charge of yourself as a adult. Sometimes though when I look back on things when we were kids, and wish we could go back to those times again! Being a kid with no worries, how nice!!!

Hi there,
Thank you for your response, but I on the other hand, I have absolutely no desire to go back to being a child, I suppose some children have no worries, but that was not my experience, and so I don't really want to go back to being a kid.
Happy Mylotting!

I just finished reading Peter Pan. As much as I loved Peter Pan, this time around reading it made me feel a bit of pity for him. There are many lessons that I've learned from life and with those lessons, even though, they may have been painful, I enjoy what I know now. In that sense, I like being an adult. I like the freedom.

me too, I love being an adult. I wouldn’t want to rewind my life for anything. I just hated being under my mom with her getting under my skin all the time. There are so many things I enjoy being an adult like getting up from bed late on days when I can, skipping breakfast and having a brunch from outside, late night dinners (which may not be dinners at all but just some tasty fast food), relax whenever I want, do what I feel like …oh it’s a wonderful feeling not having anybody tick you all the time.

I guess it would be staying up later sometimes. It would also be more junk food at times lol However, I have tried to stay with what I was taught as much as possible, just because its safer and healthier. Good wise, advice came from them which I still appreciate greatly.

I dont think so that doing all this is fun for long time. I mean I am an adult and I hate being one. I think it is alwsys nice when we were kids. It was altogether more fun aand enjoyment. With the growing age you have a lot of responsibilities popping up so I would like to become a kid again.

Actually I was created by my parents so free and I was always quite mature for my age that to be an adult really means to have more responsability and to work in something I don´t want because I need the money to pay the bills. I love to live with my family and in our house I have all the freedom and comfort I need right now. My mother is my best friend and we can talk about anything and everything so the big difference is that I can do things as an adult I couldn´t as a child not because of my family but things that in a society just an adult can do.

For me, I'd prefer being a KID. Adults have a lot of problems and frustrations, whereas childrens can have fun playing all day, and you get pampered by your parents! I am a great example. When I was young, my parents pampered me, bought stuffs that I want for me(though I do not ask for toys very frequently), and they prepare breakfast for me in the morning...I do not have to clean my room on my own and all..but NOW? AHHH! THEY'RE ASKING ME TO DO EVERYTHING ON MY OWN! I'm really not used to it, though I know that it's a good 'training' for me.
happy mylotting^^

When I read this post I thought it at first to be some teenager first out on their own and able to drink to excess and eat all the junk food they want. I see you are old enough to know better, but I am sure you are posting this all in fun. Most parents have the best interest of their children at heart when they tell them to eat their vegetables and to go to bed early. The do not allow them to drink and smoke either. Some of the things you do as a child you get away with a time out or sent to your room, like hitting someone or stealing. If you did that as an adult you would be charged with assault or theft and sent to jail.
However I do agree being an adult is probably better than a child or a teenager because if you are smart you can choose the course of your life somewhat, it is not controlled as much by parents and society and hopefully there is a long period where your health is good enough you are able to do the things you want without restriction.
