Having my family around....and watching my two youngest granddaughters spend time together....the little one is three...she stayed over so she could spend time with her cousin....so I am sitting at the table with her and she is eating some candy and drinking a little can of sprite and she says....Grandma this is so much fun! That was the best part of CHristmas....

Now, that is a memory that I would cherish forever. I did also treasure that time with my grandchildren ....they had a wonderful time but did not want meemaw to go home and we had to explain that meemaw has to get back to take care of her responsibilities lol

This was the first Christmas since my mother sold our family home of 42 years. We always met there on Christmas Day. So we had a family Christmas at my mother's seniors' residence on December 14th, then at Christmas she went away with my sister to see her family for Christmas. So this was the very first year we had Christmas at home alone - just me, my husband and our two daughters. It was the best Christmas ever! My daughters' moods change when they are among other family members. They are very shy and don't talk much. They get bored because they are the youngest in my family. This year they were home, they had fun, they laughed, we played games, I cooked my first turkey dinner, we sat down together at our dining room table and ate a real old-fashioned turkey dinner.
My husband's family is a couple of provinces away and has always wanted to go "home" for Christmas, something I can't imagine doing. So he has never been there since we've been together (13 years). We probably would have gone there since my family was not getting together Christmas Day this year, but his parents went away for Christmas for the first time. But even my husband admitted that this was the best Christmas ever... not having to go anywhere and just being together as a family.

I think it was seeing all the family on my dad's side. We don't get together as much as usual, and we also don't live as close to them as they are to each other. Most of his family is within a 60 mile radius of each other, with a few exceptions. So I did really enjoy that.

It would have to be spending time with my family and seeing my twins play with their cousins. Receiving gifts was nice and thoughtful, but Christmas, to me, is all about Jesus and His willingness to come to this Earth and die for our sins. Jesus was born to die and return to His Father in Heaven. That is something no human being would ever do. We are a fallen people and we live in a fallen world. That is why we need Jesus.

Going round on Christmas Day to see our elderly neighbour! Her house is so quiet and relaxing that I actually fell asleep on her sofa, you see the thing is that my father always has the television on loud and I love the peace, so when we go round to see her house is lovely and quiet and I got so comfortable! She has known me from a baby and I always call her my auntie even though we are not related. We gave our presents to each other and she bought me a lovely rug for my bedroom floor, she is always so thoughtful bless her, she is 89! She came round to see us on Boxing Day and I sat and chatted with her for a couple of hours.

Because of the snow and ice we couldn't celebrate Christmas on Christmas day. But what i enjoyed most about the day was Christmas dinner with my family. My oldest came home from the army and my middle son came home from college. I was happy to have them all home safe and sound and to top it off we had a white Christmas. :)

I really enjoyed spending time just relaxing this holiday season. For Christmas, I went to my hometown in Eastern Kentucky. Everything is really simple there.
I went to my mother's and just sat around for a while. Then I went to my sister's and just sat around. We just sat and talked about old times. We didn't get involved in discussions of politics or gossip. It was really a nice visit.
All of the kids there are grown, but it is still nice to watch all of us big kids open gifts. LOL But the best gift of all was just being together.

I enjoyed best this Christmas was being with family, having a great time, and seeing the children in the family happy. I enjoyed seeing my nephew enjoying his first Christmas, my adopted niece spending her first Christmas with the family. Everyone had such a great time that they carried it over to the following Sunday. We all met Sunday Dec.28 at my niece's house for another dinner. And it was great.

Hey there my friend I'm glad you had a great Christmas.
When I read your posting I didn't have a moment's hesitation, I just had to share the following story. Aside from enjoying the 4 Fs, Family, friends, food and fun!! And
Believe it or not it involves playing Nintendo Wii. As you may know from some of my previous postings I am not the most coordinated person for various reasons. As such, we chose not to play Nintendo Wii sports, or any of the more active Wii games (although trust me I enjoyed laughing at my family as they all hula hooped in the living room with the Nintendo Wii fit). As always I've gone off on a bit of a tangent, so back to my story.
I was playing the Nintendo Wii Brain Academy. There were four of us, my sister and myself (both adults) against my niece and nephew (6 & 8 yrs). My body isn't so coordinated however my brain ain't bad. The sad truth is that my niece and nephew were whipping my sister and my butt. I mean they had beat us at least half a dozen times in a row. My sister and I are utterly humiliated that a six and eight year old are able to beat us. Not to be out done, we bear down and are determined to beat them. The kids, by this time are loving it and killing themselves laughing because we cannot beat them.
I guess in the long run a little healthy competition never hurt anyone. So, on we go trying our hardest to win at least one game. I honestly was so preoccupied with playing my side of the game, I did not look over to watch the kids. The game ends, and my sister and I are thrilled (again, 2 adults vs 2 kids), because we finally won a game. As we're celebrating our victory with high 5s, my nephew at six, with absolute seriousness and without sarcasm, reveals and I quote "We let you win!".
Yup, folks, that is the sad truth of it. My niece and nephew let my sister and I win a game of Nintendo Wii Brain Academy, and we were too busy trying to win and celebrating our victory to even notice!
Now after telling you my story, I ask you this, who said that adults were smarter than children?/
This just my 2ยข worth! Happy Mylotting!
