as in give Toys, or donate stuff, or spend time with them? Or were you too busy to even notice and too worried about yourself. We always try and find some extra time to do things for some of the less fortunate, and it is always a nice feeling to be able to do so as well. It all started this yr. when our Church was able to give out Turkeys to those who could not afford them at Thanksgiving to finding people from my job, etc. who have kids and money is tight and buying them a little extra to enjoy. I have actually been buying gifts for the less fortunate for many yrs. now and find it a pleasure to do so. Personally even if it ends up costing me a little extra in Cash I may not always have, the blessings that come from it, and seeing the smiling faces makes it all worth while as well. Personally I Love seeing the reaction on their faces and the many Thank You's I get, so I shall be continuing this tradition hopefully for the rest of my life. Did you do anything for anyone this yr., and how did you feel when you did so? ~~TINA~~

I guess if my two daughters count, I am always doing and getting them something they need. Sometimes it is appreciated and other time's it isn't. Though as they get older they do seem to be more appreciative.

I hate to say less fortunate because she isn't, my neighbour and very good friend lost her eyesight about 8 yrs ago but was left so she could see shadow and outlines but over the past 6 months she has been in a lot of pain with her eyes and it ended with her going completely blind, so I've been extremely busy helping her come to terms with the loss of the little eyesight she did have and it's been heart renching for me to watch her and try to encourage her to readjust to a very different way of living and trying to slowly regain her own independace with my help. Over Christmas my efforts have really paid off and she is now coming to terms with her blindness and slowly she is starting to help herself has she just seemed to give up and that for me was fantastic to see in her. Not quite the same has you I know but still so very rewarding for me to see the improvement in her spirit more than anything. Happy New Year.

Yes, I've already posted about one of my major endeavors to help the less fortunate. I'm giving up a portion of my food stamps (the share I usually use to buy junk food) and buying canned goods for the needy instead. My waistline will be happier, my soul will be happier. Now there's a win win. As soon as I finish sorting through my clothes and buying new ones to replace those that don't fit anymore, I will donate my ill-fitting clothes to the survival center which is a free store in our area.

We gave canned food to the drive at my daughters school. And also to the boy Scouts. We gave the toiletries and paper products to the Girl Scouts. My daughter went through her toys to give to the local Childrens Home. And we gave clothing to the battered Womans shelter in the spring.

I simply give coins to the children on the streets, I gave 10 percent of my 100 dollar prize at an online activity contest to the church as the church are giving donations too to the less fortunates. The family gave money to our relatives in need. As long as there's an oppurtunity to give and there's cash in excess to paying obligations we do give in any manner.

I'm donating more money than usual to the local homeless shelter and my state's food bank. With a lot of people this year either unemployed or under-employed, the soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries are seeing a lot more visitors.

I always try to donate some extra change to charities and stuff every year. Whenever I accumuluate so much change I make sure to put some into those little donation boxes. I know people thing that change isn't a lot but it does add up and every penny helps those charities provide for the people that they deserve.

I really do not know. I am not supposed to boast about the good deeds I do. I know that we have offerings in our church for the poor and all the congregation, including myself, put in money and that goes to help the poor in our community and abroad. So I am not going to go through this last year because I do not want Christ to say at the end "Verily she has her reward."

That reminds me I am going to donate some unused clothes to salvation army. there are other things I want to donate too but they are my husband's so until he sorts them out I reallt can't do anything with them yet. It would be easier to donate money but right now we have to make sure we have enough in savings for next year just in case

Unfortunately, this year I am part of the unfortunate. I have been out of work for six months, and my husband does not have steady work. We are really struggling, everything is being threatened to be turned off. Well, kind people from my church have done a nice thing for me, by giving me a food basket. I am so appreciative of it. I normally would help out those less fortunate every year, you never know when it is your turn. Have a Happy New Year.

Hi there, I was really lucky to have done something for less fortunate this year. Not as a count but, yes, I got chance to help them quite a few times ... 1. I contributed some part of my salary to an organization called "Oxfam". This organization works for less fortunates across the globe. 2. I got an opportunity to visit helen keller blind school and serve food to visually impared children. Apart from this I also had chance to tell them a story, which they enjoyed. 3. I got a chance to organize a xmas activity for my company employees. I distributed some amount to my company employees who were in three groups and asked them to do any kind of social work with that amount. To my surprise, they contributed from their pocket to the company amount and every group did a fantastic job. They went on to the streets and distributed shawls and fruits to underpreviledged people. They went to the old age home and special need children shelter, distributed chocolates amongst them and had funtime with them. 4. Last but not the least, helped street children a few times. Yesterday, I was eating icecream with a friend of mine and a couple of street children came up to us and asked for money, my friend asked them to go away but I stopped them and asked them what would they do with the mony? They said - we will eat. I asked them if I can buy them some biscuits. They pointed towards my icecream and asked, if can be given that. I bought them icecream and they enjoyed it! I wish and ask god to keep me on top of my thoughts and always keep me at a level from where I can help others! "Give happiness and you receive it for sure!"

At my local shopping centre at christmas time they leave boxes out with "St. Vincent De Paul" on them. Its a charity organisation here in Ireland to help the less well off. I had just finished my shopping, but when I saw the boxes I went back in and got more food. I gave a good bit of my shopping away. Hopefully some families got to have a nicer christmas. I hope it went to good people.

I only helped one person out this year. Money is so tight. I purchased some small gifts and wrapped them for this person. She wouldn't have had a single gift if not for me. She thanked me for the gifts today. They weren't really anything to rave over, but she did. It did my heart good to see her so gleeful.

I give to one charity and ONLY one charity every year... it's not that I don't have the money I would rather be giving more to one than a little to a lot and when you start giving to others you have 10X as many knocking at your door asking for money Thanks Zelo

The only giving I've done has been monetary. I sent an extra check to the local Humane Society animal shelter this month because I knew that some people would be too busy with Christmas to remember them and their budget is so stretched already. I gave to the Salvation Army Santa a couple of times. I also gave to a veteran collecting money for other vets when I took my daughter to the airport the day after Christmas. I also bought ten raffle tickets for a fundraiser for a local charity raising money for Christmas gifts for poor children.

I am doing something right now for someone whos less fortunate then my family. The other night I was in a local resturant with my brother and his wife. We were having some drinks and talking to other people in there. All of the sudden there was a lady who walked in and you could tell she wasn't in the nicest clothes. She was homeless. She is staying the the owner of the resturants warehouse down the street. She has a real thin air mattress to sleep on with 2 thin blankets. She would walk down to the good will at night and rummage through the bags of stuff that people had left after hours for clothes. So today I went through my closet, and things that I no longer wear, I put in a bag for her. I am also giving her a old purse that I don't use anymore, and some blankets. I was going to donate them to the goodwill anyways, so I will just give them directly too her.... Its sad, and even though I have been unemployeed for over a yr, I still have my husbands income. He too is being layed off from his job, his last day is Jan.9th....I thought things were bad for us, but I guess they could be worse. We too could be homeless..... Shihtzumama
