Sometimes I would get a cold, it's uncomfortable for me. But I wouldn't take the medicine to cure the disease, I would drink a lot of hot water and wait for the body recover itself. I think take too much medicine is harmful to my body. My body is stronge enough to recover itself. But if I had a bad cold I would take the medicine. How about you? Would you take the medicine if you got a cold?

Unfortunately, I usuallly take medicines to recover from a cold. I am a liitle addicated to the medicine. And I'm very easy to get a cold. So, I think I should make my body strong to anti the virus. Eat healthy is a good choice for me. As I don't like practice very much.

Cold is the common disease which affect the people for many reason some body may get cold if they suppose to drink cold water or take bath in the cold water and it may also cause due to climate change i think it is not compulsary to take medicine every time you get cold and i really agree with your words that "i would drink a lot of hot water and wait for the body to recover itself " this is really a good decision many doctors give some powerful tablets so that we get some side effects if we often use them so it is better to wait for some days to get recover from the cold .

Being cold, taking a cold bath, or even drinking cold water will not give you a cold. A cold is a virus that is only passed from one person to another. It has nothing to do with weather or temperature.

You're right...too much medicine is harmful. A cold is nothing more than a virus, one that your body will eventually weaken and take care of. When you get a cold, the best thing to do is eliminate dairy products, and as many processed foods as possible. Eating healthy foods, like fruit and veggies will help boost your immune system. Drinking water and fruit juices will help to thin the mucous build-up and add needed nutrients and vitamins to your body. These simple steps, along with proper rest, will shorten the duration of your cold. Continue living a healthy lifestyle will help to prevent the virus from taking hold the next time you come across one. I don't take meds, I try to eat organic foods, drink water and juice and take suppliments to keep my immune system healthy...and it works!

Taking the cold medicine makes me sleepy. Having a good rest is also a good way to recover.

My situation is similar with you. I seldom do sport practice, so I'm not strong. But I do not catch a cold often. I don't like to take medicine too. When I catch a cold, I usually drink a little more water and wear a little more clothes. An my body will usually recover itself. But sometimes my body can't recover itself or even get worse in two week. So I have to go to hospital at the time.

When I was pregnant, I got a cold. I really couldn't take much. Now that I am Br*ast feeding, I still cannot take much. It doesn't just effect me. But my son too. I may consult a doctor. Other than that, I'd try and muddle through.

I try to avoid medicine even when I know I'm sick, I know I will get better eventually, and I usually try to go on as If I'm not sick which I guess is a good thing. If I get really sick I will though

When i feel a cold coming on I start using my Zicam nasal spray...and then take two echinaceas a day for a week or two. I also up my vitamin C and I try to drink more water. I use tylenol when I feel achy and hot. I know these things do not cure the cold, but they are there to help ease the symptoms which make life a little more bearable considering I usually have to work through my colds.

What on earth would drinking hot water do for a cold? There is no cure for a cold so all you can do is either suffer or take some medicine to help with the symptoms.

Well there is no actual 'cure' for the cold. You can only take medicines which will help to relieve the symptoms until the body is able to clear the virus from your system. I do usually take some sort of medicine when I have the cold. I take paracetemol as it is one of the safest forms of chemical pain relief. I don't see the point of suffering for no reason, especially if I have many things that I need to be getting on with

Hi Ben! I have a very low tolerance level for pain and discomfort , so whenever I get cold or headache etc I take the pills or syrups almost immediately. However my husband is liek you. I believes that water can cure almost any illness and that having a regular diet-sleep-motion cycle keeps your body fit at all times. So, he never takes medicines unless he has to. Hope this helps! :) Happy Lotting.

It is great that you have a sturdy constitution and can manage and wait for the body to heal without recourse to medicine. I was not too scared of cold earlier but at one point of time I got such recurrent attacks that would end up in a cough which once again lovingly clung to me for more than 3 months . It hampered my activity in a big way-I was taking classes for various groups of students and was forced to cut a few of them and finally I had to sacrifice my music classes too. As a result, now ,whenever, I start a cold I pop in an anti allergy tablet as though lightning is about to hit me.

Currently I am pregnant and suffering from a cold without taking anything. I choose to take medicine when rest isn't an option. Unfortunately rest is something many of us can't afford. When work is a must then I take something to mask my symptoms and allow me to function at a somewhat normal pace. I would also boost water and nutrition to help me get over the cold and actually fight the cold off (cold medicine doesn't actually get rid of the cold, just the symptoms). I agree that taking a lot of medicine isn't good for you and that you have to pick and choose when, what, and why in order to try and make your life the best that it can be.

If I got cold then I would also not prefer to take medicines. I take ginger water as it helps a lot in recovering my cold. I think you should also try it once. You just need to boil in a lot of ginger in hot water and then drink it. It gives a lot of releive in cold and cough.
